Should We Treat Nominal Christians Any Different Than Unbelievers? | ask Theocast

  • Why do we get so angry with false converts? They are sinners in need of a savior, and yet we demand them to behave as Christians should. If someone is truly a false convert, how should we engage with them? Should pastors preach harder, more fiery sermons so these false converts will change their ways? Pastor Jon Moffitt offers some insight on how we should engage those who claim they are believers but are not.

Actually, the First Purpose of the Law is to frighten unbelievers about God's wrath.
You're right, LAW in no way ENABLES them to obey. But it does make them recognize that it's IMPOSSIBLE for them to obey. Only then will they understand the value of the Gospel, fall on their face and ask for mercy.
You don't preach law to contrite Christians. But you most DEFINITELY preach Law to prideful unbelievers. No, not out of "anger." But certainly in confrontation.

@@joelee8200Bro you consume too much free grace content. And this is my problem with this channel. The cater to free grace but pretend they don’t. You need to understand regeneration. Paul Washer preaching a more full context of the Bible. We are saved by grace. It is a gift and we can’t obtain heaven by a single work. But those who are regenerated live a completely different lifestyle. They live holy because God has started a work in them. A born again Christian walks on the narrow bath, battles sin, fights sin, makes war with sin, hates sin, grows in their hatred for sin, grown in their eagerness to be obedient to God, feels broken to the point they may weep over the sin they are struggling with because it crushes them to disrespect and be disobedient to their God and savior. Thats they Paul preaches examine yourself. Because it’s actually preached in the Bible, because many people just don’t care about God at all also many are duped into believing they’re Christian because they say they have faith, but if u could look at their life over the course of 5 years video recorded you will not just see struggling with sin. You’ll see them willing indulging in the practice of sin as a lifestyle without any remorse whatsoever. Thats a great big sign that they don’t truly have the faith they say they do. And that’s not faith plus works. But genuine faith produces those type of fruits. And free gracers for whatever reason can’t seem to grasp the concept of faith produces are genuine serious walk of holiness, but that doesn’t mean we are trying to work for our salvation. But just because we aren’t working for our salvation, it doesn’t mean that we just casually walk through this life without a real heartfelt hatred for sin and a real heartfelt love and desire to please God.
If u want a weird way to word it ( AND PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY)
We live almost as if we are working for our salvation ( KNOWING FULLY THAT WE AREN’T WORKING FOR OUR SALVATION AND CANT WORK FOR OUR SALVATION)
It hurted so bad to just say that because I hate to even think of something that sounds even that close to “working for salvation”
but I said it like that because I really want free gracers to rethink the way the think about salvation.
we strive to please God and we follow and obey him, we don’t just live good or decent lives or even delivish lives while saying we have faith.
We submit ourselves to our Lord and walk in holiness, not to gain or earn salvation, but it seperates those who have genuine faith from those who have a falsified faith… and no I don’t think we can be perfect in that walk but it is a serious walk setting our eyes on Christ and giving him our life and allowing him to change our ways, going from the old man to the new man, who lives a totally different lifestyle

He's toned down the yelling a lot now. This video actually made me think of Paul Washer, who tells the story of how he gently told a minister where he was guest speaking that he was going to preach the Gospel, even though the minister said, "They're all saved."
I especially appreciate Paul Washer's softer preaching style, where he focuses on the love of God for us.

@brucedavenport7016 obedience is important but not for salvation from the wrath of God. It is for the good of our neighbors. You have to read it in context. Abraham is still declared righteous through faith alone. But since he is a new creation, he is encouraged to do good work because faith without work is dead, aka useless.
