- Episode 6, "Kin," has a similar runtime as Episode 5, clocking in at 60 minutes.
So far, the series has seen Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) heading to Wyoming in hopes of finding Joel’s younger brother, Tommy (Gabriel Luna). The new trailer previews the pair on their journey, with Ellie opening up to Joel about the events of the prior episode. In a response that highlights how their relationship has developed over the season, Joel offers a consolatory message saying, “Well, I reckon it’s a lot more complicated than that.” Next up, we are faced with the moment many had been anticipating, the reunion of the Miller brothers. In a season laced with bittersweet moments, this seems like one of the sweet ones.
However, we quickly realize that the reunion isn’t all peaches and roses, as the brothers have a tense discussion about their shared past. “Tommy, those things that you judge me for, I did those things to keep us alive,” Joel remarks. In a sharp rebuttal, Tommy replies, “We did those things,” then adds, “And there weren’t “things”. We murdered people.” The trailer then introduces the character of Maria (Rutina Wesley), the leader of Jackson, the Wyoming settlement where Joel meets his brother. From the game, we know Maria shares a deep connection with Ellie and Joel, and in the trailer, while advising Ellie on whom she might trust. She warns, “The only people who can betray us, are the ones we trust.”

Based on the game's story, this installment will potentially cover the Wyoming and University of Eastern Colorado portions, likely including the much-awaited comeback of Gabriel Luna's Tommy Miller (Joel's brother).

Having finished both games, knowing what happens and recognizing scenes just adds to this show instead of taking it away. I haven't loved a show this much since early days of Game of Thrones. Pedro Pascal is on fire these days and shot to the top of my favourite actors list.
Can’t stand him. No charisma, doesn’t look like a tough man. The only reason he is in every show/movie is because he is “diverse” (even though he is Western European Basque ) and a raging leftist. Liberals love him!

TLOU is thee GOAT PS Game and probably top 10 for one of the greatest TV series. Loving the adaption so far. The whole lead up to Henry and Sam all the way til the death of them is my favourite chapter/sequences in the game. Period.

There's gonna be a lot in this upcoming episode, from finding Tommy to the shootout in the University. I'm surprised it's only gonna be 60 minutes.
Yeah. It's too much, in my opinion. Also considering that Graham Greene is playing what appears to be a new character, so that's more time they have to dedicate within the 60 minutes. So in the space of the hour, are we supposed to have the journey West, Wyoming, this Indian couple (whoever they are), Ellie running away, then going to Colorado and the fight at the university? I really hope this is showing scenes from episodes 6 and 7 and not JUST 6.
I’m not sure we’ll get the university section at all, including Joel’s owww moment. Tommy and David. Looks like they are using the Jackson village from part 2 instead of the hydro dam for Tommy’s place - meaning there may not be the time jump between seasons as there was between part 1 and 2.
@@MarkArnoldMusic the shot of them on the horse with Ellie pointing the gun backwards sure does look like Joel is sagging in the saddle, which makes me think that it's the university. If it is, it doesn't make sense why they would squeeze all of that in one episode. I really hope I'm wrong.

I hope they do it pretty much the same as the game. It's the most powerful moment between them. So far they've been kind of copying lines from the game and adding in new ones and it hasn't always worked as emotionally as that scene needs to be.

My predictions for the rest of the series based on this and the game (SPOILER WARNING):
E6: meet Tommy, Separating ways convo, shootout at the university (a lot for one ep!)
E7: Joel being injured, Ellie scrounging for food and medical supplies, interspersed with flashbacks with Riley, very similar to the Left Behind DLC. Ellie meets David at the very end of the episode.
E8: Episode surrounding David and the cannibals, ending with Joel rescuing Ellie.
E9: The giraffes and the big finale!!!
In this czcams.com/video/0pnokWTGTOo/video.html trailer for episode 6 there is the scene of David slamming the hatchet beside Ellie's head. Makes me very unsure about the timeline because how could they get that far in the next episode. I found David's crew to be the best part of the game so I really hope they don't rush it.
Or alternatively, every episode has more or less been an isolated storyline with the exception of episode 4 and 5. I think the same will be a two parter for episode 7-8, with episode 6 not introducing the cannibals at all which they first appeared in the university sequence.
E6: Meet Tommy, separating ways convo (quite frankly this episode doesn't need ANY action sequences they can all be removed not important, they were just random bandits. Which I think is good pacing considering episode 5's heavy action AND there is a lot of character development Joel and Ellie / Joel and Tommy still need to go through. I just want to see them walking around chatting fixing the dam, all that jazz. Doesn't even need bandits at the house at the end of the episode.)
E7: Intro scene is shootout at the university (so they're already there, this could a 10 minute sequence, the episode is 56 minutes long), Ellie taking care of Joel interspersed with flashbacks with Riley (so effectively cause Joel is injured and there's flashbacks - this is Ellie's episode and the theme is her not wanting to lose yet another person she cares about. Going between present and flashbacks could serve to move the plot of this episode forward over several days. I think having Joel injured and Ellie trying to deal with the situation in the same episode would be more of an end-to-end story without introducing the cannibals as a cliff-hanger
E8: Ellie meets David (End-to-end story about the cannibals ending with Joel rescuing Ellie)
E9: The giraffes and the big finale.
I think the main change is that from the having the university in the same episode as meeting Tommy again will really ruin the pacing too jam packed. And they seem to have additional scenes talking to people about not going west.
E8 is going to be about Ellie and Riley i think

@@powthehamster most of the game wasn’t actually combat, I’d say it was mostly cutscenes and dialogue while exploring the world. There’s some combat intensive missions like the Dam but most of the time I would say it’s focused on the story.

I don't think thats accurate. They have been mixing in scenes from future episodes into these episode previews before. The bloater was in more than one of them, despite it just finally happening.

@@segevkrespi8609 I would guess, we know this upcoming episode is 1 hour long so I’d wager Jackson takes like 15-20 minutes since it seems the dam combat is completely cut out. The University probably takes up most of the episode. The next few episodes though I think will be very accurate to the game, especially episode 8 and 9. 7 will likely cut in between flashbacks and the mall like in left behind, and it could very well be the longest episode however I think the last two episodes will be the longest episodes.
Edit: Completely disregard what I just said, they revealed that the following episodes will continue to get shorter. As to why I have no clue, it makes no sense at all since especially the winter sections are some of the longest in the game. Spring is the shortest but still the last episode will be 43 minutes which doesn’t make much sense. It’s possible they cut out the combat from episode 7 since it’s going to be 56 minutes long and will just show Ellie wandering the mall and reminiscing, episode 8 will be 51 minutes.
Honestly I feel like once this is all done the main criticism of the show may be that it’s too short, an extra episode would be better I feel like, especially for the winter chapter. I’m guessing Ellie gets captured in episode 7 and David will be introduced as a cliffhanger like in episode 4 with Henry and Sam.

if they are trying to squeeze Wyoming AND Colorado into one episode, that's too much. I'm sure they're doing this because they're going to dedicate a lot of episode 7 or 8 to the Riley flashback, but still...too much to cover in 60 minutes. It wouldn't be that much of a problem if it was 80 minutes like Episode 3, but it's not.
Wyoming and Colorado were the two shortest parts of the game outside of spring. Including left behind winter is the longest part of the game but leaving that out Pittsburgh (in this Kansas City) was the longest. The Dam was just a combat section that I’m guessing got cut out, so most of the episode will likely be dedicated to the college.
Edit: The episode after this will likely be dedicated to left behind but I think it will be very similar to the game and probably one of the longest episodes, the only episodes I could see being longer are episode 8 and 9 which are very important to the development of Joel and Ellie’s story and will probably be the closest to the game in terms of how much they adapt and change. I’m guessing Troy Baker’s character will show up here and throughout episode 8, or might get killed in episode 7.

actually what the game tries to show is that everyone is bad depending on which perspective you're looking from, in the second game you can see this better (if you understand it because some people didn't and hated the game). For us, for example, Joel can be a good person but because he's the main character and we're seeing everything with his perspective, but in the eyes of others can be an awful person because he did awful things to survive and killed many who were innocent

Before meeting Ellie, that's who Joel was. Especially early on when he was still with Tommy during the first few years of the infection. Losing his daughter turned him into a monster
@@vidmasterK1 I think his point is that they are trying to line him up with the Joel from part 2 (like it or not alienated alot of fans) and that alone is really worrying as it would seem like a cheap retcon to an otherwise flawed character. Yes he does terrible things but he's more than just some guy who murders cold blooded. Neil wrote the first game but had others turn his ideas into something good. Neil wrote the 2nd game without much intervention and it really fucked up the balance of everything. So yeah. I'd be concerned too.
