  • Have you been experiencing activity in your uterus and you're not sure is it BRAXTON HICKS or TRUE LABOR CONTRACTIONS or is this a case of an IRRITABLE UTERUS or are you having PRODROMAL LABOR?
    Let me break it down for you:
    - I'll talk about what braxton hicks contractions are
    - I'll talk about true labor contractions and what they feel like
    - I'll compare the two with a nice chart you can screen shot if you want to keep it for your reference
    - I'll show you braxton hicks AND true labor contractions and what they do to your cervix with a demo
    - I'll tell you what prodromal labor is (and why it's awful!!)
    - I'll talk about an irritable uterus and how it differs from braxton hicks
    - I'll talk about the rule I use for figuring out when I should go to the hospital
    Hopefully by the end of it you'll have an better understanding of if what you are experiencing is the real thing and you should pack that hospital bag for labor and delivery OR if you should rest at home and save the trip for another time!

    With my first I thought it was Braxton Hicks at first. I was shopping in the afternoon, so I went home and had a lay down. After two hours, I came to the conclusion that this wasn't Braxton Hicks. They were consistent and getting closer together. When my husband came home, I had him take me to the hospital. The midwife (title of labour and delivery nurses in Australia) monitored me for a bit, but felt that I wasn't really acting like a woman in labour. I was sent home after being diagnosed with Braxton Hicks. I couldn't sleep. I ended up getting my husband up a while later and demanding he take me back to the hospital. I was fed up, and annoyed. They were going to stop the bloody contractions so I could sleep, damn it. The sun rose on the way back to the hospital. It was the same midwife who saw me the first time. She said "oh, it seems a little more serious now, let's check you." She checked me, and I saw that briefest look of horror, then she declared that 'we're having a baby". I was fully dilated. They had me hold off on pushing until they had a pediatrician for my son, since I was only 35 weeks along.

    With my first, I thought I was having braxton hicks at 35w, but I was spotting and decided to go to the hospital. Before we got in the car, I started bleeding a lot more, and it wasnt until i hit transition that they were...more uncomfortable. They were never really painful, it was just pressure. My labor was 4hrs 15min from the time I woke up to when he was born, and that included like 30min of them telling me not to push while they found a doctor.
    With my second, I had the same pressure, but my cervix felt like it was being ripped apart. He was actually breech, so maybe that was why. No epidural until they found out, after I'd reached 10cm, that he was breech. The BP monitor went off in the OR the same time I had a contraction, and I was surprised it wasn't high. My OB said it was because I was breathing well through contractions.
    My water also didn't break until after pushing contractions started with my first, and it broke on the OR table after I was numb with my second and ive heard intact waters help. My second labor was 3:45min. I count it as that because if my water broke after I was 10cm, there's no way I wasn't having pushing contractions already and it only took me like 10min to push out my first so...
    Still wish there would have been a doctor trained in vaginal breech delivery because recovery would have been SO much easier.

    I had prodromal labor for 2 weeks before my water broke at 37 weeks and it was hell. I got so infuriated when people would misunderstand and act like I was being a baby about Braxton Hicks. It helped that I was always in triage and they measured my contractions which were every 1-2 minutes apart, spiking at the top of the chart and extremely painful. I just wasn’t dilating (although I was almost fully effaced). I was out of my mind near the end of the two weeks but no one would help me besides Terb shots because I was “too early” to be induced. Never again!

    I have a strong science background & This video was so helpful esp with that balloon demonstration & oxytocin causing contractions from top of uterus !!! I’m a FTM due 2.19 and experienced my first tightening sensation 2 nights ago! Still awaiting true labor sensations! 😅

    I was having some crazy contractions with my second baby 3 weeks ago. I was watching a video on all the prelabor signs. I thought it was weird I was checking every box. 30 minutes later I started getting my first contractions. I thought I was hyping myself up and tried ignoring them. They were inconsistent timing but felt intense. I layed down and felt better but they never stopped. I hadn't felt this pain since I gave birth the first time. I actually fell asleep during it. Still had the contractions while asleep. Woke up still having contractions. Just as painful but the timing and pain was still inconsistent. Wfter 13 hours I go to the hospital and it was real labor. Doctors told me it was so inconsistent because baby was breached.

    Hi!!! I'm looking for any advice on breastfeeding with inplants over the muscle! Thanks so much.

    • @mamanursetina
      @mamanursetina  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I’m not well versed in this to be honest! But it will be determined based on if any connection to the nipple has been disturbed or if any glandular tissue was removed or damaged. But if the implants went in via the armpit and not in through the nipple there’s probably a great chance for breast feeding to be successful!

    I am currently 39 weeks pregnant, me & my partner had sex this morning & my contractions have been so strong all day nothing like braxton hicks that I was having before we had sex . But now I am not contracting anymore . Why does sex cause those real like contractions?

    • @mamanursetina
      @mamanursetina  Před 10 měsíci +6

      Couple of reasons. One is if he ejacul@ted inside you semen has prostaglandins that could potentially cause cervical softening. And two if you 0rgasm that can cause oxytocin release which can trigger uterine activity!
