Hwasong-16 ICBM: North Korea’s Monstrous New ICBM

  • The new ICBM, presumably a Hwasong-16 intercontinental ballistic missile , appears to be approximately 25-26 m long and 2.5-2.9 m in diameter about 4-4.5 m longer and about 0.5 m larger in diameter than the North’s Hwasong-15 ICBM flight tested once in November 2017. Indeed, the new missile has been correctly characterized as the world’s largest mobile ICBM in part because countries with ICBMs generally seek to make their road-mobile ICBMs smaller so they can be more mobile and concealable. Nevertheless, we estimate the new missile’s launch weight at roughly 100,000-150,000 kg, compared to some 80,000 kg for the Chinese DF-41 solid-propellant, road-mobile ICBM and about 104,000 kg for the former Soviet SS-24 rail-mobile solid ICBM.

That's why the author said it's the largest ROAD MOBILE ICBM in the world.. Although 100 - 150 tonnes is extremely heavy and I wouldn't call it mobile. It has a capability to move I guess, but with that mass it would be a juicy target for any advanced missile...

Oh, Rocket man built himself the biggest road mobile ICBM... What's next? 200 tonnes tank? 500 m tall gold plated statue of himself? Can people eat those missiles? Can they travel on them to Pyongyang? No.. Then I would call it a juicy target.. That monster would be tracked by the US satellite and ground based radar systems at a very hint of hightened tensions.. And of course hit it with a hypersonic missile within few minutes of their launch...

When Iran hit those bases in Iraq, they gave hours of warning, saved life but not the base. With these ICBM's you'll have 1 hr at most before it flies at a speed almost impossible to do anything about it. With MIRV's it'll be impossible.

ICBM cannot be Launch and Fired in Mobile Launched Platform thats what they said actually it can be Launched and Fired in a Silo based system even US and Russia numbers of these ICBM still these kind of Missile can be Launched and fired in a Silo type Launch . Unlike the SRBM and MRBM Missile System can be Launched and Fired in a Mobile Launch Vehicle

No one knows if works. Just because it is the largest does not mean it is any good. Also the reentry warhead is a very tricky piece of technology. So no one here knows if it works or not. Can it fly, reach sub-orbital and hit its target? Unknown, untested as far I have heard.
