    Don't really think losing the race was Raikkonen's fault considering the state of his tires.
    Ferrari pitted him too early after Mercedes dummy stops that they're apparently free to do and he was backed up by Bottas because Vettel was nowhere after failing to defend against Hamilton because he was too eager to get past Kimi. Both Ferrari drivers said after the qualifying in interviews that Kimi was allowed and would be expected to race for a win, Vettel threw it all away trying to get past on lap one instead of biding his time and trying to get team orders when a Ferrari 1-2 was secured.
    Despite Raikkonen being treat like ass by the team, from damaging race strategy to ignoring driver feedback and getting a retirement in Spa because Raikkonen said the car felt broke and they ignored it, he's still 3rd in the championship. I don't understand how Raikkonen is "past it" with that in mind.
    Also completely agree with the theater aspect of F1 in terms of booing. I don't partake in it and used to be unfond of it, but the reality of the sport is that when you're at your home GP you are the hero, the support will be overwhelming, when you're playing the villain at the opponents home GP you ARE the villain for the day.
    The drivers are being paid millions for doing their job, the audience shouldn't be obliged to pay homage ontop of that.

    • @Rui-wb4hu
      @Rui-wb4hu Před 6 lety +3

      @@minigungaming5915 if Vettel have not decided to try to pass kimi on the 2nd chicane, he probably would have been able to defend from Hamilton and keep Kimi in 1st and him in 2nd, while Hamilton was still in 3rd. After this it would just be a matter of team play and both helping each other to not allow Hamilton to overtake. Vettel still had 52 laps to overtake Kimi, if that was the case, so I don't know the rush on that 1st lap move...

    • @boostav
      @boostav Před 6 lety +1

      +Blockah Wrong. Mercedes would have kept Bottas out in this situation as well. Lets rewind it: Hamilton pits before Kimi and undercuts him, Hamilton then catches up to Bottas who is staying out on worn out tires, Bottas lets Ham through and then blocks Kimi who is behind him. Hamilton increases gap and wins the race. As you can see both situations yield the same result, Mercedes won the race thanks to Bottas acting like a roadblock. Nothing Ferrari could have changed by pitting before or after, as a matter of fact Kimis pit stop was phenomenal at only 2.2sec so if anything his toxic fans should be praising the Ferrari pit crew instead of always talking shit. Once Vettel crashed out Ferrari was fucked, there were no safety cars or rain to help out like what happened to Hamilton both in Silverstone and Hockenheim.

He was properly in the championship battle last year at this point as well and it was only his crash in Singapore that for the first time in last season clearly gave Hamilton the upper hand.

    I will say this, Vettel's temper is suspect and that's what will kill his chances, it's totally Lewis' to lose no matter what he says on the contrary. The weight on a driver's shoulders to deliver for Ferrari eventually grinds them down if they don't. And we're seeing that play out now.

  • @Nasko00

    I want to throw some thoughts here hopefully not toxic fans will see em.
    Let’s go to the qualification. You are not giving enough credit to KIMI for the lap. He didn’t make a single mistake. Well deserved fastest lap in the F1 History and I will argument with you why. Because HAM was pulled by BOT right , then VET was behind HAM but he left too much space between them and also made some mistakes. I think was absolutely fair KIMI to fight VET and HAM like real champ in the race for his win and he did it although Ferrari clear messed up with the strategy with the lack of data about the Soft types.
    In general I think Ferrari are losing the championship not by car deficit or drivers errors in the season so far , but the problem is the management and the strategies in every race. They screwed up so many times both drivers during the season. Honestly Mercedes just playing they cards better up to this point. Yeah everyone made mistakes, VET , HAM, RAI , BOT. But it’s clear who is in the lead even with slightly less powerful car.
    Also I don’t supp the 2nd driver thing. I know it’s a team sport and Ferrari have done it with almost every driver since 98’ but tell me that .. did anyone liked it?! No! And that’s the reason they have changed the things, and fair play for that, although clearly Mercedes are gaining advantage from the same management. And still no one likes BOT to be clear wingman..

    In my opinion, Ferrari’s strategy was just right, to ensure both cars are ahead of Lewis. Final Q3 run, Seb was behind Lewis and Kimi behind Seb. Unfortunately Seb did not have a clean final run in Q3 and hence didn’t benefit, else it was a clear Seb pole.
    Seb wasn’t pleased about it and it kinda indicated that he’d get too anxious at the race start. He just had to focus on keeping Lewis behind in the initial laps, which would let Ferrari have better strategy choices and eventually (even if Kimi was ahead), the swap would happen. Unfortunately, I feel Seb wasn’t thinking of the bigger picture, was impatient and suffered a mishap. All Seb needs to do is, focus on being ahead of Lewis, it’s a bonus for the team if Kimi is in the mix and eventually the team strategy will get played.

It was at the point where Mclaren advised their staff to not use team issue luggage and clothing/uniform in case Italian customs would go through their gear. Super extreme but also understandable.

    interesting point by Jess about Vettel, I have seen a bit of a pattern with him, when he is under pressure to drive rather than being in front as he was for his title wins he tends to make unforced errors, the more pressure the more often the mistakes. FYI Hamilton also knows this and takes advantage, that is why he is winning the championship at the moment. it would be interesting to see Vettels' 2010 season again.

    To be fair to Verstappen when he said he didn't care if he was loosing time to Vettel, I completely agree with him if you look at the standings: now he is at 130 pts, wich is 29 pts behind Bottas and 12 pts in front of Daniel and Hulkenberg is like a further 66 pts back, so he will most likely finish in fifth or sixth at the end of the season. And when you look at the teams standings, it's pretty much done for Red Bull, they're 3rd and can't get any other places than that. My point is, basically, he can finish his races wherever the hell he wants to, because his position and the one of the team are settled for the rest of the season.
