Lol love the comment.
bahahah omg this comment
This kicked me in the head. :D So true
I was here so early Ferrari still had a chance to win the championship.
Vettel wasn't fighting Max, he was looking forward to catch Lewis. Vettel had the right to make the move on Max. This would have helped him to reduce the gap with Lewis.
I was looking forward to punching everyone called Itoe on the head. Therefore, I have the right to punch you on the head.
Stupid logic.
Wow! How was 2008?
Or to watch the race
Nice one :))
"If you go for a gap that no longer exists, you are Maldonado."
It's interesting about Vettel and Verstappen, I heard somebbody say a couple months back that Vettel is quite easy to read in his interviews, there are a couple simple things you understand, there is one driver that Vettel truely respects on the grid and that's Hamilton, and there is one driver that he truely fears and that's Verstappen. And then everytime there is an issue I get reminded of it and just how true it is.
TheGreatSplurge you where spot on with that vettel fears verstappen, you can see it in the way he always overtakes him, its always clumsy and rushed
I might have to pay closer attention to those 2 now. Though I'd have thought that he also respects Alonso who gave him a run for his money in an inferior car.
This was on skynews talkshow with natalie pinkham. Was an older journalist and hes absolutey right. I remember seeing the video aswell
E3, I would agree however some of their tussles in the 2014 season (Silverstone being the one that sticks in my mind most) Alonso and Vettel were treating each other and reacting in much the same way that Vettel and Verstappen were last season at Silverstone, which points in the direction of what the guys on this video we're saying that Alonso treats Vettel in the way that Vettel treats Verstappen and vice versa.
Also Adrian, Yeeeeeaaaaaaah!!! Couldn't remember where it was from, having said that I think it was there post race analysis after Singapore last season, but can't be certain
The thing that is wrong about F1 at the moment is, that Verstappen just don't let space for the car that is inside, and almost all experts just saying about that, that Vettel should expect, that Verstappen will close the door, so it is his fault, he does even try. I somehow would say, Verstappen miscalculated his ERS, so he even should expect a attack.
Saying, that is not a place for overtakes is just a bit to easy. Also saying he could wait is just shit, he is a racedriver and you don't win anything with waiting for the car in front taking its panelty. And letting space for a car inside, and it was half car length in that corner, so it clearly was inside, is needed for good racing, and Verstappen really did not. You can't take the racing line, if there is a car inside. With that argumantation you almost could say to all drivers, you are only allowed to overtake on the straight or in on or two explicit corners. and if you can't do it there, you are not allowed to overtake...
I still would say, Verstappen could be a good driver, but because of all around saying, that he does good with that unfair driving, he will not get to that point anyway.
Also Vettel fucked up a lot this season, but really not there.
And really, why Verstappen can do what he do without anyone saying, that he really is to agressive in fighting!!?!?!? Without changing it even would not help him to have the best car, he would not win anything with driving like that.
#YasMoment was for me the moment when Verstappen and Hamilton were joking around about Max's moments with both Ferrari's
@@MadmanGoneMad2012 Yes. At the end of the race.
s#!t ...
oh yeah, that was freakin' hilarious
Is no one going to appreciate Tommy's joke at 0:48?!
The stewards were right on Magnussen. Looking at the footage slowly, one can see that Charles and Kevin made a decision to move to the right at the same time (within a frame, I think Charlie Whiting said). Magnussen didn't block Leclerc or react to Leclerc's move, he just went on the defensive line, and there isn't anything wrong with that.
Another great podcast again guys
Really love these videos and the content overall keep it up!
WRT Charles-Kmag Incident:
Read the statement from Charlie (Something along theese lines):
Charles were catching, catching, catching, then goes to the right. 1Frame after, K-Mag also goes to the right. So they basicly decided to turn at the same point in time.
Assuming its 25fps camera they use, thats 0.04seconds. Or half of that if its 50hz camera. Or somewhere inbetween if its Murican' stype camera. Either way, its much less then human reaction time. (~0.2sec)
I've enjoyed this podcast, keep up the good work!
You picked my prediction 2 weeks in a row :) Thanks!
My #YasMoment in the race was the inclusion of my favourite driver, Charles Leclerc, into the "Magnussen is a danger to all drivers on the grid" Club, MIADTADOTG for short.
Thank you for such a lovely podcast guys! And thank you to Etihad for the opportunity!
my #YasMoment was Kimi saying after the race that he could've left Verstappen more room 😂
I watched the race at 2am after I got home from clubbing smashed. Needless to say I had to watch it again the next day because I couldn't remember any of it😂
47:30 Well I did watch it to the end, and that is acctually the reason why I liked this vid. (not that I don't like your other videos, but I usually forget to klick the button...)
Great listen today. Good podcast.
Magnussen can change direction once to defend his position... Checked. Vettel goes for a gap, like a champion should... Checked. F1 and us, the fans, need fierce racing drivers, like Verstappen and Magnussen. It's F1... It's dangerous...
Mmm. I dont actually think that Magnussen broke any rules. Of course it was a big mistake. But were rules broken?
@@dinocadet77 I agree, no rule broken. F1 is becoming too much vanilla. I don't think Vettel was wrong as well. He saw a gap and went for it. Just remember the 90s clashes of titans that made Senna, Prost and Schumacher the legends they are. We need that!
But then don't hand the penalties to Verstappen, Alonso and Stroll then...
@@Dan4096 I´m not sure if I understand what you want to say. If it is "don´t hand penalties for guys trying to race" then yes, I agree. I just think there´s too many penalties going on. No one likes a vanilla racing experience. Take Australian supercars races... they are awesome to watch.
#YasMoment when kimi was at lotus and he went over the radio when getting told what to do “leave me alone I know what to do” 😂
#yasmoment when Vettel took over the steering wheel at the drivers parade in a GTA kind of manner haha
Hello Matt, Tommy and Jess! My favourite #YasMoment of the race (because there were quite a few) would have been when Charles Leclerc was sitting at the side of the circuit with all the broomsticks. A part of me just pictured him grabbing one and flying off into the distance. Perhaps switch to a new series (Quidditch)? 😉
About Max vs Vettel incident:
“If you no longer go for a gap which exists you are no longer a racing driver” - Ayrton Senna
I remember that quote, so true.
#YasMoment Mine would definitely have to be Alonso’s sneak preview at his rally car career. Love u guys see you at Yas!
WTF1 received a 5 second penalty from the FIA for not even watching the race live.
Pfffft what kind of pitiful excuse for not watching the race live is driving? Why didn’t you have you phone out resting on top on the middle bit of the steering wheel like an f1 steering wheel screen.
Maybe because it is dangerous? If I were him I wouldn't be risking my life for that.
Shoorit and maybe because it’s illegal in Britain...
I'm sure he was completely serious with his suggestion and was looking for valuable feedback.
Good to see that Cpt. Obvious made some offspring after all.
John Whittaker he’s British?
Y'all obviously don't understand jokes
My #YasMoment was when Max was so fed up with the penalties he gets that he said in a post race interview that next time he's just gonna cut the corner with full speed. Love his genuine reactions to everything
My #YasMoment was also the midfield battle, just so satisfying to watch
Jess' genuine anger and disappointment in Matt when she found out he didn't watch on Sunday was legit intense 😂
#YasMoment? Hamilton asking Bono where the heck he's been, was a funny one! 🤣
Well I'm glad you agree on the argument for fixed stewards, having the same at all races would make things so much clearer and consistent.
My point on Kristensen was more in the fact that after F3 and F3000 in his early career, his experience for the rest of his driving was all tin tops which has a massively different perspective of what is and isn't dangerous on track.
Tom Kristensen did test for several F1 teams, including Minardi, Tyrrell and Williams...
Jonty good to see you around other podcasts. Can't wait when you guys go back on with Sean. Sean and yourselve gt best approach and content on F1Word.
@Kim Yeah that's true, but that was back in the late 90's/early00's, the difference in the cars now is so big wit regard to physical stresses, mental stresses and involvement with wheel controls etc. that no real comparison can be drawn. The same could be said of driver stewards such as Mika Salo and Martin Donnelley who were very much in F1 but so long ago it's without real relevance. That's just my view on it.
@Pawel, we'll be back soon mate, dont worry.
My #yasmoment was seeing Daniel's smile after the race in comparison to his disappointment in qualifying!
EVERYBODY LISTEN UP! The video right now has 1.2k likes, and if the video gets up to 10k likes they are going to paint Tommy's face like an American flag for the US GP, just for the hell of it, let's all like the video.
When Kimi said "leave me alone i know what i'm doing" #YasMoment
My #YasMoment was...well...it was a place. Degner 1 is seriously one of the best corners in racing period. Watching those guys (especially when Verstappen was chasing Bottas) chuck the car into that thing is so exciting.
Seriously, what a race
My #YasMoment was when bottas and Hamilton were talking about the Vettel and Max crash in the cool down room
#YasMoment
the mercedes formation on the cool down was on point with Verstappen joining in behind them
#YasMoment was definitely seeing Danny Ric smiling after the race, his scream in qualifying absolutely shattered my heart.
My #YasMoment was the moment I realised I didn't just wake up at 6am to see Mercedes get another 1-2 but being able to enjoy a complete masterclass from a lot of the midfield drivers! Thanks to all F1.5 drivers for delivering such an exiting race, what a start to a sunday!!
Now u know what its like watching f1 for people in the us because 90% of the races are at 7am here in the US it was nice staying up until 2 am for once and watching a race
The problem, Tommy is that we have the luxury of 20/20 vision and replay. In the moment, when you have a chance like that, as a racing driver you’re going to take it
My #Yasmoment was Dan Ric literally imploding walking down the pit lane. We all felt that!
My #YasMoment of the Japanese GP was Leclerc showing off his race craft especially with that move on Grosjean around the outside 😍😍
#YasMoment when the graphic of the standings came up, and then the realization that Vettel is even more points behind Hamilton than he was last year at this time.😂
#YasMoment - Leclerc's radio message as he retired as it was pretty funny hearing his voice as he bumped across the gravel. He sounded so nonchalant when he reported back he just avoided the barrier .
My #YasMoment of the race was when Alonso fought Vettel into the final chicane. I knew it was pointless but it was still exciting to see even a small fight from two of the best racers around!
#YasMoment when DC asked Verstappen after quali if he would try not to interfere in the championship battle between hamilton and vettel and verstappen replied: "Is it still a battle? I didnt know." or similar ;)
Another great episode guys! Either Tommy needs to speak up a little more or you need to turn up his audio just a tad bit.
Best #YasMoment at the Abu Dhabi GP is when the track was first introduced and a few drivers almost binned it in the pit exit
Hi guys love the podcast. Was thinking it would be cool if you could introduce timestamps to these videos.
My #YasMoment is when Alonso completely floored it at the chicane 😂
#YasMoment
Lewis chilling out front and checking on the radio if Bono had gone for a break 😂
#YasMoment when Leclerc paused to add “and always will be” when describing Magnussen’s stupidity.
Matt boogying at 4am and driving at 12:30pm?
BERNIE SAYS THINK BEFORE YOU DRIVE! :O
My #YasMoment was Danny Ric blowing out his voice on Saturday after a terrible day and using that anger to charge through the field on Sunday was amazing to watch
#YasMoment
Watching Lewis at Silverstone @ Club Corner claiming Pole Position on the Saturday with everyone cheering was amazing. Then watching the race and applauding Lewis every time he came round after his comeback drive to second! 🏆
(Was only the second time I’ve been to a race: 2011 & 2018)
Im pissed, I play a drinking game . . . "Like" lol
My #YasMoment was when Hamilton asked where his engineer was? I bet he went for a cuppa tea.
Could you guys possibly consider adding some more compression over your mics? There’s a lot of difference in volume levels ;)
#YasMoment to me is the way Hamilton and Bottas discussed the Vettel-Verstapen clash in the cooldown room :D
#YAAAAASSSS Moment
Max's radio message after the race "That's not my problem"
Personally, I believe the 'play on' view of the stewards towards the Vettel and Vestappen incident was correct in the sense that it was in fact consistent. Hear me out, so thinking back to China when Vestappen got a 10 second penalty from spinning Vettel, Critically Vestappen gained the position on Vettel and Vettel's race was ruined because of the incident. In the case of Japan, Vestappens race was not ruined and Vettel ended off the worse. I may not think the decision of the stewards was exactly correct but in terms of consistency they actually made the right call.
#yasmoment was definitely seeing Ricciardo coming back through the field after seeing how angry/down he was on Saturday. Amazing to watch 👌
#yasmoment when max said kimi should have waited for him haha
#YASmoment the moment that alonso decided to become a rally driver😂😂
Magnussen wasnt given a penalty as he and leclerc moved at the same time, so kevin wasnt reacting to charles actions, just badly timed defence
If you rewatch the kevin and charles incident, the reaction time between charles move and kevins move makes it humanely impossible to check his mirrors and make a move
#YasMoment Was after Vettel hit Verstappen and spun out, watching himself sit there waiting for every. single. car. to go by before he could rejoin safely. 1) First time an F1 driver ever wished for turn signals. 2) They didn’t air the camera angle where you could clearly see more smoke coming out of Vettel’s ears than his tailpipe.
#YasMoment when the Toro Rosso's got 6 and 7 in quali. That motor looking good for redbull next year!
#YasMoment Dany Ric going from walking down the pit lane screaming with rage to 4th and smilng like usual in the space of a day.
Edit: Damnit Jess, I typed this before I got to yours in the podcast.
#yasmoment when Max asked "is it still a battle?" during post-quali interview
My #YasMoment was Danny Ric coming back from a terrible Saturday to just cruise through the field
#YasMoment has to be Danny Ric's awesome rise through the field, particularly when he jumped Kimi in the pit stops.
My #YasMoment of the race was that Lewis was so passionate to his team, he was happy with the car and he loves the track 😇
Was awesome to see and it made me feel really happy 💚
#YasMoment Going to bed after staying up to watch the UFC and F1. Matt has no excuses!
My #YasMoment was when Hamilton came on the radio asking if Bono went for a break.
Alonso going full rally cross was my #YasMoment 😂
My #YasMoment was when David Croft said that Hartley had a really good start, Only to get overtaken by like 5 cars
Magnussen's move was okay. You know why? Leclerc could get out of the slipstream earlier. Leclerc was closing in too much and should have gone inside earlier. So who's fault is it? Nobodies. It's racing. Leclerc closed in too much and Magnussen defended late. It's racing with both drivers taking too much risk.
Not only that, but Magnussen only exercised his right to one directional change, yes he left it quite late, but his move wasn't illegal. And as you said Leclerc could and should have pulled out of the slipstream earlier. He was less then a cars length behind Magnussen when he decided to move over. Magnussen left it to late which was stupid, but it was a pure racing incident. Quite frankly I was actually quite annoyed with Matt in his race review, when he said Magnussen didn't deserve a seat for next year. Clearly a the person who is seventh in the championship and hence best of the rest, doesn't deserve a seat. Also Magnussen has 3 penalty points, Hartley and Gasly have 4, Verstappen has 8. I hope Matt reads this, because his "opinion" on the matter was most definelty coloured by his preference of Leclerc, and nowhere near good journalism.
My #YasMoment of the race is when Leclerc got on the radio with his cute French/Monegasgue accent saying Ohhhh something is broken... poor guy, hopefully he won’t have the same issues with Ferrari next year. Plus I would really love these tickets because my anniversary is the weekend of the Grand Prix 🙏🏻
#YasMoment When Hamilton was having the time of his life driving during Practice. Nice to see him and Bono having a laugh together :)
Worth watching/reading Charlie Whitings comment on Leclerc Magnusson. Magnusson moved to the right one frame later than Leclerc which is why there was no penalty. Effectively they both moved at the same time hence it was a racing incident.
#YasMoment the incident between Stroll and Alonso. That was pretty wicked
My #yasmoment :
The two perfect 360°spins from #lec16 and his radiomessages.
#YasMoment
When Alonso decided that he was actually born and raised in Finland and went off roading after a tangle with Stroll.
#YasMoment When Charles said “Whoah something is broken” on the radio
#YASMoment When Hamilton and Bottas were talking about the Max-Seb incident just before the podium
#YasMoment of the race was Nando practicing rallycross for next season by going off the last chicane
#YasMoment Verstappen saying Kimi should have waited as if they're in traffic lol
Matt has to start the next podcast with the proper WCW intro!
#YasMoment My favorite part of this race was the mid-field, that never gets old! I wish the mid-field could battle at the front. That would have been the best season ever!
#yasmoment when Ricciardo's voice cracked when he screamed
#yasmoment Danny Ric slashing his way through the field and generally just finishing a race. Also not the race but his rage at qualifying as well as Charles beautiful 360
#YasMoment When LeClerc was sitting by the brooms waiting for the Quidditch match to start right after the race.
Perspectives is the important part to remember, rather than my opinion is fact.
Stewards have data , we have a replay while the race is underway, we are emotionally involved too. At Monza Stewards for a large majority got it right, but now not so much. On the MAgnussen / Leclerc incident even if evidence says 1 video frame between movements and no physic powers in evidence how does that happen , rather than a racing incident? Vettel (for me being optimistic) and in hindsight, and cooler thinking, get the angle of attack right through spoon challenge for chicane would seem better chance, Vettel knew Max was not going to make that easy either, he wants to win WC , he has to appraise, in that moment, not saying his racecraft is fine, I think he has shown over the years with Webber etc, a car competitive he normally ends up being the one who makes a hash of it , again my perspective, yet a gap and energy clipping, go for it? or not? I think stewards got that right too. Even though every online race around Suzuka in Iracing etc a move that late always ends in tears for one or both.
Tough job, so many armchair judges the stewards have, what would help, after race like Mercedes do mid week a race analysis and penalty decision video with Charlie Whiting to educate us all.
My #YasMoment was Leclerc’s radio message after the Magnussen incident
I rarely watch the race on the Sunday because, by the time most of the races happen, I'm already in Monday
In China Verstappen was making the same mistake as Vettel in Japan. Why was he getting a 10 sec penalty?? Alonso was getting a penalty for cutting the chicane (by getting pushed of the track) and Verstappen was getting a penalty for not trying to cut the chicane? I mean i really really dont understand it anymore.
Completely different incidents. Alonso did get pushed off but went straight over the grass to rejoin the track and gain an advantage. He should have just used the old chicane layout and rejoined safely.
Verstappen got a penalty because he still pushed Kimi completely off the track and didn't leave any room.
Alonso emerged 2 seconds in front of Stroll. He did gain significant advantage from cutting the chicane, though he was pushed off. Vettel was at least alongside in the breaking zone, Max torpedoed him in China. Verstappen should have cut properly using the escape road, not swerve onto the grass. The escape road is there for that purpose.
Alonso cut the chicane twice
Verstappen got penalty fir unsafe return onto the track? You know he hit kimi. What verstappen did in china was more like bottas vettel incident in france. After being pushed off track alons cut another chicane.
IN CHINA for God sake
#YasMoment when Lewis got on radio anytime this weekend , his energy shows that he and the team knows this is wrapped up and he's untouchable
When people talk about the mistakes Vettel made everyone seems to forget the Austria qualifying where he blocked Hulkenberg, got a grid penalty and basically threw what would have been a close to save win.
Matty said Kevin "turned into" Leclerc. There is a massive difference in turning into someone, and driving out in front of someone. And yes, I agree that it was very dangerous and could have gone terribly wrong. But I also don't think it was intentional.
When Lewis's engineer forgot to update Lewis on the strategy as the pitwall went to celebrate their pretty much guaranteed constructors' mid race after Seb gets spooned by himself once again was my #YasMoment.
My #YasMoment was Leclerc saving that spin. Natural born drifter.
