Thunderspy dominators get their pet early and also have the OP Psychokinetic assault, which has whips (I mean, we are talking dominators here...) and shortlived self-propelling swords that can finish off an enemy while you move on to the next. I have a Wind Control / Psychokinetic on Thunderspy and it is probably the easiest way possible to start your career as a dominator, for those who are new to the archetype.
yeah, I wanted to bring that up in the video also along with another powerset on Rebirth. But I had to cut them to keep the video short. I also have a wind / psychokinetic Dominator on Thunderspy and they are really fun. I do like how they moved the pet to be the first ability mainly to help ease the pain of lvling with Controllers.
Both controller and blaster, one of my favorite archetypes. As long as you can manage endurance cost and emphasize the ability to maintain immobilize / holds; this makes for a major player in almost every situation. You literally get to dominate the enemies. Even when a boss resists your control, you can blast them into oblivion! So much fun to play.

I think I started liking Illusion more with domination because of how well it worked since it was so lacking with containment abilities. Those AOE holds really seem to stick even harder than they should under domination, but Illusion is pretty busted anyway lol.
Thanks for another great video. Never made a dom; I'm hooked on controller, but after this, I'm definitely looking into it.

Just some things to add: There's a pretty popular build variation called "Perma-Dom." It's where you're slotted up to reduce the cooldown of domination so it's almost always up. Makes dominators pretty gear dependent as a first build, but once you get it going, it's incredible. Try not to be too conservative with domination though. I try to feel out for an area where I know there's going to be a ton of enemies use it to throw out my strongest AOE holds. I do Mind/Psy and will throw out some mass hypnosis and confusion to tear into situations like that for some powerful CC. You can also take the two cooldown skills from the speed kit which synergize pretty well with domination to be able to throw it up more frequently. Great for team-ups so you're not stuck in moments where you're saying "Man I should've used domination back then" or "Should I use domination now?" You can pretty much toss it when you need it and pop the cooldowns so that you almost never have to worry.

@@ControlledChaosGaming Anytime. Thanks for your dominator video. It helped me out because I wasn't "getting it" when I first started playing one almost a year ago. It was actually my first CoH class and had no idea what I was doing since I never played Blasted or Controller.

Thanks for your great content. I disagree about holding onto Domination for emergencies tho. I use mine as soon as it's available or after I spam some powers to get the energy boost. The sooner you use it the sooner the bat can refill again. The bar also drops when u don't use it so you could lose the Domination that you had acquired. Lastly most players try to get permanent Dom or close to it. In which case you would use it as soon as it's available. Other than my opinion on that I usually agree with most of your CoH content and advice, and greatly appreciate it.
You make some good points, the reason I like to hold onto mine is for the times I am in a hard fight. there have been many times when I needed Domination to survive and it has not recharged yet. So I say go with the play style that feels right for you.

Homecoming just got the license. May mean more good things for City of Heroes. In the meantime, best time to play though since the servers are full
@@solblackguy Yes it is and I love seeing how full the servers are. Even some of the other private servers are seeing a boost in there player base.
Thanks for helping me with other ATs. When it comes to keeping domination active what do you need to have is hasten the main part? Which of the starting dark controls is the better pick? personally i prefer living shadows cause its a group hold where as Dark Grasp is a single target hold.
First I need to know what server you play on in case they have done any changes to dominators. As for the dark control I am of the same mind set as you I like group holds over single holds.
Ok first thank you for the informative video on Dominators.
I play HC on excelsior and mostly solo. What Dom build would you recommend that has great holds for multiple targets and I do enjoy ranged attacks as well. I would love ill/dark but I heard that the phantom doesn’t taunt like it would for a controller , and dark was nerfed for the Dom. Again, this would have to be for soloing missions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

for group roots and holds early on I would go with Earth domination.
Was ... 1:50 supposed to be Symphony Control? Took me a long time to figure out what you were saying. Maybe if you're having trouble saying something you could pop the word up on the screen to help?

Yes but it is still a good game and people that have never played it before are liking the guides to help them figure out what archetype to play.
