I love Hondas. My family always had Hondas. I'm 36 years old now and broke off onto Fords. I used to have a 2009 Si Civic Sedan that I miss..
I'm getting a CRV in a couple months to be my daily driver. About 2 months ago I bought a Police Interceptor Crown Vic.. The transmission went bad 2 weeks after I bought it. Lost 3500 dollars. I gave the Crown Vic to a local transmission shop to fix my Mustang.. I bought the 08 Vic to be my daily driver while my Mustang was out of commission.
Now I'm saving my money again and this time I'm doing what I should have done and that is to get a CRV...
I see a lot of seemingly nice ones on Craigslist for well under 5,000... A lot of them do have over 200k miles on them tho but my family has always had Hondas/Acuras.. My first car was a 91 hand me down Accord coup from my mom and that one had almost 300k miles on it and never had a major issue before I sold it. My dad had an Acura RSX that had almost 300k miles on it. Before that he had 90s model Prelude that also had a gazillion miles on it...
Whats messed up is I test drove a CRV like yours before I got the Crown Vic.. It was silver with a 5 speed.. They wanted 3,000 for it... Man, it looked new but so did my Crown Vic.. I'm kicking myself hard for not going with the CRV.. It ran perfect... The guy let me drive it around Raleigh for over an hour by myself.. It had what looked like the same motor my 2009 Si Civic had.. The iVTEC motor...
In a few months when I get the money saved, I'm buying a CRV.. After I get it and find that it's going to be reliable, I want to turbo it...
If I can get 300-350 horsepower out of it and it still be reliable, it may become my favorite vehicle..
My Mustang is a 2010 GT with the 4.6... It's pushing alittle over 300 horsepower.. I'm not satisfied with the speed of it anymore..
I want my upcoming CRV to be able to outrun my Mustang....

I have a 1998 Honda CRV and don't have any experience with engine swaps or modifications. What is your advice for someone who wants to learn how to modify? I love the CRV and the cockpit view but would love to make it a little more powerful.

Awesome build, love me a 1st gen CRV!!!
That must be a 1998 or older, from 1999 they had the new tall intake manifold/knock sensor/higher compression and more power B20Z motor?

Hell yes! Once done. Id like to know a breakdown of what this turbo build cost. I also have a AWD RD1 manual. Lifted in AT tires. And it's a slouch. I have already swapped a b20b in it. And it definitely needs moowww powwwwaaa! Glad I found this channel! Subscribing now!

My Japan made 97 cr-v runs like a brand new engine at 225,000. Ive been thinking of getting the turbo. I knew the difference isn't great but it's my only complaint about this car is people getting mad at me from behind pulling away from a light unless I am flooring it which I'm refusing to do. I'm sure you know what I mean. So the question is will this make enough that I'll be glad I did it? Thx

    • @ryanefhatch9249

Yes the motor wont have a issue just have it tuned. You will just minimally need 440cc injectors or bigger and someone to retune the ecu
