    Holey moley, you've done a full on job there with the kit.
    Lot's of mods. It started life as an EK Civic on stilts from the factory an now it's literally on stilts.
    It certainly looks cool, and not something you see everyday.

    Thanks for making this video. I grew up in California but I moved back to the UK to be with my family. I have a 1997 RD1 and I convinced my dad to buy a 1999 RD2 with an auto to manual swap. Thanks also for mentioning the Freelander coupler I'll have to look into that. I spent some time building Chevy muscle cars but I never thought I'd enjoy working on Honda's so much.

    Nice CR-V! I have one from Georgia (I live in Maine), sadly only FWD but completely rust free. It can go more places than my car can. They are definitely fun, and just plain neat. It's a shame Honda ventured so far from the CR-V's original image.

    Dude. That is a SWEET looking CRV! Subscribed for the look of your CRV alone!!
    I'm not a mechanic, but I'm learning! Just bought my son a 97 CRV with the 3" HRG lift, but I don't think they installed the drop kit, as the wobble is terrible at low speeds and turning. I'm looking at buying the drop kit, but I'm a little scared to tackle the install...althoughyou said it's easy, and I HAVE watched HRG's install video as well...CZcams vids ALWAYS look easier than when I attempt things! HA!! Thanks for the video!! Looking forward to more!

    Thank you for sharing the knowledge!
    I used to take my RD1 offroading and I would hate to hear that howling sound in the sand.
    The CR-V is designed off of the EK sedan, when you look in the engine bay you can see it. The reason it never will be a jeep is like you said. Honda acknowledged this when they designed and built the car. They said that they wanted to have a compact SUV that people could drive like a car, hence most CR-V are FWD. It was a very clever way to spend money. Though the CR-V is fun I never recommend them for offloading due to the lack of torque and the very finicky RT4WD system.

    Hey, love the build! Quick question. I'm considering getting the OME spring/ Bilstein combo. Do i need to worry about the adjustable links for the trailing arms with keeping the lift minor? I didnt know if thats only something to worry about once you drop the subframe.

    • @pngailanboi
      @pngailanboi  Před 3 lety +1

      You won't be able to get it back in to exact oem spec with anything more than 1 inch of lift. I would recommend adjustable upper control arms and adjustable toe arms. Getting your alignment back in spec is important for your tire wear and makes sure you can drive it straight down the road!

      Alot of the information you need can be had from the CR-V group on Facebook and also the Performance Hondas Facebook group. These modifications are covered in alot of detail these days with how popular they have become.
      I have several civic wagon here that I've been buying over the years to fix up. My main project car is a RT4WD Civic Wagon. I'm not familiar with the Land Rover Freelander viscous stuff as I have personally never messed with any of them. You can find most of what you need off ebay if you wanted to. And the only Element diff that is stronger is a the 08-11 Element.

    Nice CRV! A couple of questions about improving performance; are the Bilstein Struts and Siberian RTA bushings a better upgrade than any other brands especially with energy suspension bushings?
    Is the viscous coupler a must in improving drivability/reliability with the RD1s? I am not looking to off-road the car at all maybe here and there sometimes but never a long trip off-road not longer than an hour tops.
    I have many more questions to ask about improvements recommended to do but here is just a couple of them for now. Thank you for sharing I look forward to more videos 👍🏽

    • @pngailanboi
      @pngailanboi  Před 4 lety +1

      I wouldn't say they are better necessarily since there is alot of good options on the market right now for the cr-v, but for my specific application and using it more offroad and on trails these seems to work good for me.

    • @pngailanboi
      @pngailanboi  Před 4 lety +2

      Do not consider the viscous coupler as an upgrade if you only use it for light Offroading or trails since you won't see much gain for what you need. Keep it how it is and do all your maintenance and fluids and it'll be just fine.

    • @multiradiokiller

      I just got my first CR-V. I like this first gen the best of all of them for sure. I want to mod it and make it more capable but I think I'll try the tires and skid plates first. See how it does and then go from there. Right now I'm neck deep in maintenance and repairs on it just to keep it going down the road.
