Model 3 Windshield Crack Fix With a $10 Repair Kit - TESBROS

We got a major crack from a rock hitting my Model 3 windshield at highway speeds. I've had to take it to Tesla service before due to this same thing and it was a $1,200 fix to replace the windshield. This time I thought I would try out a $10 repair kit to see if it was worth the time.
Full disclosure: We specialize in PPF and vinyl wraps and taking apart Teslas, and while we love to share our Tesla maintenance experiences, this was my first attempt at a window repair. Bear with me as I test this process out, and maybe you can relate to this as well.

Moved to Denver in October and a semi threw a rock at my windshield during my 2nd trip to the mountains causing a small chip. I waited too long to look for some DIY repair and the recent cold spell plus window defrosting caused it to crack more :( off to Tesla service center I guess

I got my Model Y Performance June 28th, I had STEK Dynoshield applied July 30, along with paint correction, front clip PPF and ceramic coating. On August 15th I got a windshield rock chip near the driver side A pillar while driving on the interstate and the windshield instantly cracked half way across the middle of the windshield. $500 for the STEK Dynoshield + 1200 for Tesla to replace the windshield. Ouch! I’m going to spend the money to tint the new windshield and skip the Dynoshield this time.

A windshield repair shop could have probably fixed that to nearly unnoticeable. Yikes, not a great job at all and right in eyesight.

@@RealReeseElDon nah, it wasn’t that big. They can suction and resin way better than he did. I’ve had it done before without replacing the entire windshield.
