Agree PAUL MCCARTNEY CALLED HIM THE BEST SONGWRITER EVER ...really JEFFE LYNNE IS A GENIUS
Every song is amazing, but I love Last train to London!! great song.
Jeff Lynn is one of those guys that did a bit of everything. Write, produce, record. Also a part of The Traveling Wilburies. Incredible talent.
* Lynne ;)
Well its a Living thing, that's what I told my wife in bed.
Yes
He's a Living thing
Not dead yet.
YES - way under-rated in all aspects... I hope they get around to the Wilburys!
ELO is one of my favourite bands. In the late 60s and early seventies bands like the beatles and ELO came along and took song writing to another level which has rarely been matched even today. These bands are the classic composers of tthis century like Mozart and Beathoven were in their day.
You mentioned Brad Garrett. I believe he was used in the advertising of the ELO Discovery album.
John Lennon was asked if the Beatles had continued what would they have sounded like, he said just listen to ELO.
I still would love for you to do Sweet talkin' woman.
Yes, me too!
@@lokisan100 Yes,Me three!😊
Fire on high was a huge hit that's rarely played, check it out sometime.
Please, please, please react to '' Evil Woman '' can't go wrong with ELO ❤❤❤
Also sweet talking woman!
You could spend days taking a deep dive into Jeff Lynne/ELO. Thank you!! Do Ya, Mr. Blue Sky, Can't Get It Out of My Head, and Showdown are great. ELO's Showdown was a favorite song of John Lennon. Lennon remarked that ELO were the "Sons of the Beatles". Ringo Starr and George Harrison made frequent guest appearances on ELO albums.
Ya'll need to see the live version of "Evil Woman." The entire crowd (except for a few young'uns) are 60 something like me
The glorious 70’s.
NOTHING touches that decade.
Things ELO and Boston have in common: melodies, harmonies, great lyricism and they both have spaceships for their logo/brand!
I love Boston, but c'mon man... they couldn't carry ELO's luggage.
@@nathanfugate8210 Boston was/is good, but a little one dimensional.
ELO Showdown is a masterpiece.
Speaking of ELO and fire . . . Please check out their song Fire on High. You will be blazed & amazed.
Jeff Lynn is a musical genius!!
I’m so glad to experience this reaction with you guys. Having a flashback to 45 years ago with ELO. Bought a very cheap pair of headphones (which was basically a piece of wire with sponges on each end) Ha ha. Anyway, I listened to their album over and over. You all are in for a special experience.ENJOY!🎶🎶💕🦋
Yep, Same thing Here!!!😎
Great reaction! Please, please, PLEASE do Sweet Talking Woman next!!
Mr Blue Sky next please! It was shown to scientifically be the happiest song ever, look it up, lol! In the opening scene of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Automatically puts you in a good mood.
Let's make a new category, "Prog Pop"
Electric Light Orchestra ( Shangri-la)
Guys going to see them in all places Milwaukee with my youngest daughter (16!) who looooves ELO! Road trip to Milwaukee in April. BTW Australian that lives in Canada. Love that my 16 year old loves ELO 👍👍😳🤪. Love your guys reactions. It’s lovely to see other people enjoying music … I don’t know it just brings joy to me. Keep it going 👍❤️
That whole album was fire
Mr Blue Sky , my favorite of theirs, might be the happiest of them all, check it out fellas.
Bull reference was right on, definitely a matador interval!
Brad Garret is on an ELO album cover "The Discovery" album. Look it up. He is the guy holding the sword. Funny you mentioned him.
Jeff Lynne denied it cause he didn't wanna kill his career, but this is definitely a Pro-Life song.
Awe it's been amin sense I've seen u 3 I hope ur all doing good staying warm listening to good music I love the 3 bobble heads lol GOOD SONG BE SAFE MUAH 💋
The Rock fans accepted ELO as legitimate rock at the time. Only in hindsight is it super poppy. That said, Jeff Lynne was in Travelling Wilburys so he was rock again:)
Ryan, Nick and Ty,
3 Superfly guys 🔥
Another vote here for "Fire On High" as your next ELO reaction, amazing instrumental
Have you guys listened to ELO : “10538 Overture” & “I Can’t Get It Out of My Head”
They are absolutely stellar!
Telephone Line is my favorite ELO song, for what it's worth.
But you should check it out yourself if you haven't already. It was used in Billy Madison to some degree.
Elo in the car.. Singing top of my voice 😎🎶 bad day = Mr blue sky.. Bad week = whole album.
You guys seriously need to check out “What’s on my Mind” by Kansas. I don’t know why that came to me while watching this reaction, but it did, and you should.
I love you guys! Love ELO, too!! ELO, also did the soundtrack for Xanadu with Olivia Newton John!
I totally agree at 12:48. ELO was NOT a Beatles knock-off band. I'm familiar with the Beatles (not a fan), and never understood the comparison. ELO has a sound that's much fuller and far more orchestral than anything the Beatles did, and their background vocal arrangements are far more complex. ELO is really it's own thing the way it integrates the orchestra into traditional pop music instruments. No other group sounds like that. The instant you hear them, you know exactly who it is. Nick is right. ELO has a very distinct sound and identity separate from the Beatles.
your next from ELO song should be Telephone Line , Mr. Blue Sky they have many good songs.
Smoke another.
This song amongst thier other songs has about 20 people to make this one song. Full string orchestra, choir and the band.
If you want an excellent song for comparing and contrasting E.L.O. and the Beatles, "Roll Over, Beethoven" is THE song to go to. In fact, I'll add a third performance of it to check out, and a sequence... Chuck Berry's original of "Roll Over, Beethoven", followed by the Beatles cover of it, capped off by ELO performing it. It's a one-song history of rock through the seventies.
I would love to see these guys reaction to the original MacArthur Park by Richard Harris 1968 ! 😃 They would definitely love it. Fantastic song !!
Love disco and not afraid to admit it!! Really happy to see young folks appreciate music from the 70's!!
Disco was an incredible part of late 70's early 80's music. Most that don't appreciate it are those who can't branch out from their normal buffet of Rock. Some real good tunes came out of it.
Alot of Disco haters were only exposed to the Pop stuff like the Bee Gees or Village People. There were tons of great Disco/Funk tunes in the club & underground scene.
Disco ROCKS!
Being an avid non dancer and lover of rock/metal/prog, I did not enjoy the "disco" years. But if ELO is disco, I like disco.
Woah...............since when did ELO become Disco music ? yikes. Donna Summer, KC and Stayin' alive. ? just because you can dance to it , doesn't make it Disco....:) JMHO
When you get to "Sweet Talkin' Woman", you've reached the top.
The entire A New World Record (1976) album is classic as is the follow-up, eclectic double LP Out of the Blue (1977). Both are masterpieces and my favourite two ELO albums. I love every song off both LPs. Try the catchy, more rockin' Do Ya, the super sad Telephone Line and the audacious, unusual Rockaria, all from a New World Record. Out of the Blue has too many bangers to name. "I either like it or love it.' Well said, Nick.
ELO and Supertramp have always been my two favourite bands.
This was a huge, huge song, on rock (and pop) radio back in the day.
Okay, time to really get into ELO! Eldorado start to finish the album! Great. If I had to pick my favorite song, Boy Blue or Can’t get it out of my head. ❤ Enjoy!
Jeff Lynne one in a million.
Good! Need to hear Mr. Blue sky by elo such a creative & cool song. Makes you 😊 Becoming one of my favorite 70's songs. Other stuff of theirs good too.
He is a musical machine. Well, I have not heard anything of his music lately, but, back then, what discography!!!!!!
E.L.O. is....well...E.L.O.! 👊🎙🎻🥁🎹🎵🎶
It's good on its own, but even better with "So Fine" before it.
Electric Light Orchestra .... where The Beatles left off.
Since you noted that you've only reacted to ELO's pop-rock style, I'll suggest a few other types of their songs. All of these are great songs too!
• Fire On High - an instrumental that is somewhat proggy with a creepy intro
• Rockaria - rock 'n roll with some opera bits thrown in
• Mission (A World Record) - moody and psychedelic with sci-fi lyrics
• Shine A Little Love - full on Disco rock, accented with some hard rock riffs in spots
Thanks for doing more ELO!
I was 8 when this came out. For some reason it scared me. Now 47 years later. I love it
As a kid I loved elo my all time favourite band, no one has ever come close! The 70’s were fabulous!
Good song, I listened to all ELO albums, one of the few bands that doesn't have bad songs.
Just fantastic!!!
One of my favorite songs ever! And I'm sure I heard it for the first time as a little kid in my parents car. Sure!!!
I love the ELO, and I fully agree with your comments guys. Love it.
About Disco, I think the ELO, without intention, could be Disco parents...maybe that's why they kind to be underrated during the 80's, like Bee Gees, but they didn't do that intentionally. They just did excellent music.
Other favorites are: All Over the World, Last train to London, Sweet talking Woman, Evil Woman, Shine a little Love (funniest ever song I heard) and Mr Blue Sky.
Regrads from Chile!! 🙂
Mr Blue Sky would put you in a great mood!
The 'bull coming out' comment actually made me laugh out loud. I've been thinking the same thing for decades. Great reaction, guys. I've loved ELO since the early '70's. Good to see your generation appreciating them also.
Early ELO was really great as well. Check out the album "On the Third Day" and listen to "Showdown" - this one really epitomizes what we all loved about them.
My fav elo song such a tune
I love when they (502) show their approval of the song while it's playing. I'm sure its the same for everyone watching too.
"New World Record" was a play on "New World Symphony" by Dvořák
You know that Jeff Lynne produced Paul Mcartney's last few albums as well as George Harrison . . . . he and George Harrison were together in the Travelling Wilburys . . . . don't discount the Beatles connections!
Love love love this song, and ELO. Yum.
Their "Concert at Hyde Park" is on line, a must see...
I graduated in 1978 and there were certain albums that it seemed like everybody had including this one. I would almost put ELO in the progressive genre although back in the day we weren't as quick to categorize everything. But all my friends listened to Kansas and Styx and Boston, etc. I didn't hear the term "progressive rock" until a couple decades later.
Another one of my favorites from ELO is Sweet Talkin' Woman. Hope you guys check it out sometime.
Great choice Ryan. Love this band. You should react to" Do Ya" next.
I remember when this album came out I think I wore it out listening to it. Love, love, love it.
If you want ELO "happy" listen to Shine a Little Love, Mr. Blue Sky, and Hold on Tight. You should really do Twilight, Sweet Talk'in Woman, Rockaria, and Ma Ma Bell, too. All Fantastic.
That's on my chores "list" with Mr Blue Sky, I Love to Boogie, Money for Nothing and Bohemian Rhapsody...😂😂😂
Have you listen to “all over the world”, telephone line, and last train to London?
For the full experience of ELOs musicianship, try their cover of "Roll Over Beethoven", studio track with the original members of ELO.
I must admit that I did not like disco back then, but there are quite a few songs that I really like now.
There. I said it.
The TV ad for this album when it was first release was a track and field athlete throwing a disk, which was the LP with the song playing in the background. When it hit the ground two track offices ran to it pull a measuring line and announced that it was a new world record from ELO.
I would love to see you react to ELO Telephone Line. I don't think you would regret it.
Love ELO ...thanks for doing this one. Not what y'all would do reaction to but y'all need to check out Ren - Hi Ren. He is sooo talented all of his videos are incredible!
Happy music. I loved this music in the 70s but it was considered "dorky". Everyone else was into like Aerosmith or other rock bands or disco.
“Shine a Little Love” would definitely be considered more disco though a great song nonetheless! Also checkout Mr. Blue Sky. That’s a happy tune for sure!
*OUT OF THE BLUE* 2 album set, you will love every single song on those albums. My all time favorite, and it never gets old (been listening to it since 1977). Jeff Lynn wrote every word and every note. Such a genius.
Love you guys! There was a snippet of a song in the movie American Hustle that intrigued me. I was surprised to find it was ELO - a song called Showdown. I think you'd really enjoy it!
The bands of this time inspired a LOT of kids to learn classical instruments..............."FIRE ON HIGH" is a moral imperative!!! Sadly, nobody plays instruments, anymore. It's all digital...........(sad face)
so many good ELO songs.
Keep it up guy's. I'm watching and a likin'
Great cut. They don't like disco??? Try Disco Inferno by the Trammps and see if they can't find the groove!!! I know your heads will be bopping for sure.
You can NEVER go wrong with ELO!!!!! Jeff Lynne is an absolute genius!!!! I wasn't sure if you guys were taking suggestions but if you ever get a chance, check out a group called Grey Eye Glances.Their song "Angel" is incredible!! Also a song by Bananarama called "Trick of the Night". Love watching your reactions to these great songs. Keep up the great work!!!! :D
Hello gentlemen 👋 I don’t know if you’ll see this as this is six months ago… But I know you like ELO as I’m exploring your channel. I IMPLORE you to have a listen to ELO’s “Fire On High” from the album Face the Music in 1975. I was 15 and went to see them as often as I could back then. Fire On High starts weird AF, but it doesn’t stay weird and you’ll love the strings, Jeff Lynne’s acoustic guitar and BEV BEVAN’S amazing drum vibe. I subscribed and hope you’ll take me up on my suggestion; you won’t regret it. Peace ✌️ from O.D. In Phila. PA 🌆
Every song on this album is great.
I suggest viewing this selection from the ELO Wembley Bound live performance where Jeff brings the violinist front stage center to perform.
ELO was the first concert I ever went to at Wembley in 1978 and I then went to see them live in Amsterdam in 2018 !! My favourite group ever ❤
Q Magazine was a music magazine from Britain and it was actually really good and they interviewed everyone from major artists to up and coming artists. I used to buy it every single month. They had a broad minded way if looking at music. And they LOVED Elo. They LOVED Jeff Lynne. They didn't mean any disrespect to Elo. They talked about Elo's genius quite a lot.
One of their happiest and most popular songs is Mr. Blue Sky, also in Guardians of the Galaxy. The best way to listen is to listen to the entire side 3 of the "Out of the Blue" album, called "Concerto for a Rainy Day".
“Last Train to London” is even more discoey(?) but it’s another feel-good classic.
You are now entering the ELO Twilight Zone of glorious hits. Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride. 😎
Views, gents, as Rick just brought up, and an appropriate time because of Jeff Lynne, please take a look at The Traveling Wilburys. You can do their 2 biggest hits, End of the Line and Handle with Care. You won't be disappointed!
Handle With Care my favorite 🤩
Love the reaction! You guys are really appreciating the 70’s and there are more gems to be discovered in that era. Why not try some Joan Armatrading! Haven’t seen her reacted to on other channels. Her Love and Affection is a good one to kick that off…
I love ELO! I would recommend "Telephone Line", "Turn to Stone", and "Can't Get it Out of My Head".
Great stuff by Jeff and ELO. Reminds me you guys need to get back to some Steely Dan. Try Royal Scam (album) title track if you don't mind blowing your minds. So good.
Happy vibes, for sure! Mr. Blue Sky by ELO is known as the happiest song ever. You must hear it 😊 Subscribing now.
