  • @MusicLover10538
    @MusicLover10538 Před rokem +9

    Some facts about Jeff Lynne (ELO)...First, he is a very humble man, simply because this Music Genius is not interested in fame, the limelight, and money, he just loves to create great music. Jeff Lynne is one of the most versatile musicians ever, this is why he is considered by his peers to be among the greatest. He didn't stick to one style of music because, after decades, it gets boring. Jeff has done progressive Rock, Symphonic Rock - Pop, New wave, and Disco.
    Everything he does turns to gold. He even flirted with Country music. From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years) Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world... 51 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas, festivals and Stadiums. During Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Tour, many reviews agreed in saying they are the best live Classic Rock Band in the world still touring and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius( From Forbes Magazine and the Washington Post).
    ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Songwriter award ( ASCAP ) in 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He previously has received three Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate songwriters and composers, including the award for outstanding services to British music.
    He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison, The Traveling Wilburys. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. Jeff Lynne has written and produced many hit songs for music legends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and so many others...

      I think "virtuoso" refers to super high skills, like Vai on guitar or Emerson on keyboards. Lynne is not like that, but he can come up with exactly what a song is calling for. For example his guitar solos are short and simple, but tasteful and effective (I'm thinking Showdown, Mr. Blue Sky...).

    • @themoviedealers
      @themoviedealers Před 4 lety +1

      He was in the band The Idle Race when "Walrus" came out. Most bands in the UK were heavily influenced by The Beatles. Three LPs with that band, which are very Beatlesque, then joined The Move for their final two LPs and singles. The Move also very comparable to The Beatles but had their own flair.

    Finally!
    Jeff Lynne said in the documentary about him, “Mr. Blue Sky; The Story of Jeff Lynne and ELO” that he wrote “Living Thing” out of his distress over the damage he was seeing to the environment. He also owns his love for pop music over all other kinds. He is a musical genius. Plays all instruments well. He is a prolific producer including many successful albums for Tom Petty, Brian Wilson, The Beatles final album, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Bryan Adams, Roy Orbison, and The Traveling Wilburys. Fascinating stuff learning about the history of that super group.
    He is a very quiet and humble person, so it really took ages for him to finally be recognized as the legend he is.
    His perfectionism caused him to quit touring in the 80s because he couldn’t achieve the sound quality he wanted. So he turned to producing. But now the technology has improved and ELO in concert is perfection in concert, even in a crappy acoustic venue like the Tacoma Dome!
    If I could only listen to one artist for the rest of my life, it would be ELO, and I’d never get tired of them. So much variety and positive energy.

    Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra from The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame site: "Picking up where the Beatles left off, ELO expanded the concept of great melodies, epic song structures and grand orchestrations. ELO added an exciting mix of elements into rock and roll, including disco rhythms and electronic studio wizardry. Imagine a marriage of tuneful, rocking pop songs with instruments from the symphonic realm, and you’ve got the blueprint for what made ELO one of the most popular groups of the 1970s and beyond.
    Jeff Lynne, ELO’s vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, co-founder, and frontman, conceived of a rarefied musical sphere in which cellos coexisted with guitars, and where classically tinged progressive rock intersected with hook-filled, radio-friendly pop.
    The result: ELO’s boundary-breaking approach to rock that resonated with a global audience, both as a pop singles act and as album-oriented rockers with deep-track appeal". czcams.com/video/sbg8aUn4YkA/video.html

I didn't mean to imply that any of their other songs were inferior, but for what Alex says he likes (Great arrangements with layers and layers to explore all wrapped up in pop melody heaven) "Mr. Blue Sky" is the next obvious choice. It's a mind-blower with one of the greatest outros ever recorded. Of all their S-Tier hits, this one stands out as the most unconventional in terms of songwriting and arrangement. I can imagine a really, really good local bar band could cover "Don't Bring Me Down" or "Turn To Stone" or " Can't Get It Out Of My Head" and do a reasonably good job that you and I would be happy with... but "Mr. Blue Sky"? ELO and Queen make musical roller coasters. They go up and down and all around. AMAZING ARTISTS!!!

    Yaaaaaay!!
    Dudes - my grandma, who died 21 years ago and would have been 100 this year LOVED Electric Light Orchestra. As do I.
    Jeff Lynne once said that ELO aimed to pick up where The Beatles left off...

    Finally! ELO can be catchy in the best possible way, this is one fine example of that. Plenty of great titles from the classic period (Mr Blue Sky, Telephone Line, Sweet Talkin Woman etc). Glad to see you guys enjoy some ELO, great tunes ahead.

    Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, George Harrison, Bryan Adams and so many other great Legends said: ¨Jeff Lynne is the best overall musician and producer we have ever met¨. Long live Jeff Lynne's ELO! Please Tour in 2022!

    Not sure if you'll see one from this far a date, but 1st timer and got you on Patreon, ELO is the first band that my dad and I both love at the same time. First when I was pretty young, but then as I've revisited in my later years. So thanks fellers!

    Jeff Lynne has produced the Beatles. He’s about as close to them as you get. He was great friends with George Harrison. I hope you take this journey through to The Traveling Wilburys. Next do Telephone Line. Mr. Blue Sky and some others you’ve prob heard in movies.

      Didn't he produce George's Cloud Nine album? And I think he was involved with Tom Petty also, and just just as a Traveling Wilbury.

      I saw him and several other stars on stage playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as a tribute to George Harrison. It was a great performance.

    Agree with the "A+" rating. Take a listen to Fire On High, an instrumental that ELO rocks!
