I bought this album when I was a mere 13 years old based on hearing "Telephone Line" and "Living Thing" on the radio BUT, I was no way prepared when I placed the stylus onto the start of the record and was smashed to the floor by this incredible opening track. Jeff Lynne's most underrated track.

Your analysis was dead on. Jeff Lynn was an amazing singer songwriter. What greater compliment can you give any artists than say " Their music took me on a journey , and made me feel. You should react to the incredible super band from the 90's that Jeff Lynn was a part of called " The Traveling Wilburys" I say Super band , and I am not joking . The members were George Harrison of the Beatles, Tom Petty,Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynn (ELO) and Bob Dylan.

The band's frontman Jeff Lynne regarded his own songwriting at this point to have reached a new high.
"The songs started to flow and most of them came quickly to me. To have all those hits, it was just ...I mean amazing really. Going from doing okay for probably three or four years to suddenly being in the big time, it was a strange but great thing." - Jeff Lynne

They were my first “favorite band” when I was 13 (“Telephone Line” was the first single I ever bought) so I’m very familiar with their catalog. Some recommendations for the next ELO song you feature:
“Fire On High” (bewarned there’s a long spooky intro before the actual music starts)
    “Eldorado”
    “10538 Overture”
    “In Old England Town”

I agree, they are very likable and sincere. I was listening to a comment The other day that Ty made a comment that made me laugh, yet pause to think about what he said. I think it was the Al Stewart Time Passages reaction….he said “who has been hiding this song from me my whole life”? Well that’s pretty profound when you think about it. I had four sons and they are all about you guy’s age and they grew up in the 90s and early 2000s with nothing but my music! They still like it more than the music of their own generation and have such a deep appreciation for the music I exposed them too. But if you three didn’t have a dad who did the same for you, then I can see how you could grow up without ever hearing these great songs. Your Year Of The Cat reaction sucked me in to your channel and to the three of you individually. I would not have any respect for your opinions if you failed to recognize that song as one of the best song in recorded music history. It makes your opinion of anything else carry more weight!

Man, you guys gotta do a reaction to another ELO song, they got so many gems! If you want something a bit different then their usual stuff try Calling America on the Balance of Power album. It's a great pop rock song that you could replay million times over and never get bored!

And next from ELO, I'll give you another great song, but this time one that's more accessible to the mainstream listener---so accessible that it was a TOP 10 HIT in 5 countries, including the US and UK: "Evil Woman". Studio version, and pick the link that has a duration of 4minutes & 32seconds, and has a photo of the "Face The Music" album cover (an electric chair) as the thumbnail. (Other links chop off part of the song.) "Evil Woman", which came in 1975, is the song that launched ELO into superstardom!

As the one who recommended this song, I want to thank you fellas for making it happen, and I can't wait to see your reaction to it in just a few short hours! "Tightrope", is quintessential ELO, one of my 5 favorite tracks from their entire catalog! It's very different than the first ELO song you reacted to last New Year's Eve, "Don't Bring Me Down". That song, while a banger, lacked the string section (a light orchestra) that defined the band throughout most of its career. So in, "Tightrope", you're going to hear what the band was *really* all about. (By the way, gentlemen, my T-shirt that I won in your Livestream Trivia contest arrived, and it's terrific! I had answered, "Frankenstein", as the first song with a Sax you reacted to.) Thanks again, and Rock On!!!

@@unrulyjulie4382 There she is! lol Hope all's been well. I was glad these guys loved, "Tightrope"! Let's get on them in a couple months to do their 3rd ELO reaction!
ps~My sponsored reaction for, "Can't Get It Out Of My Head", is up over at HarriBest Music Reactions. Unfortunately the studio version got blocked, so I had to give him a live performance. A lot of people were annoyed because the song sounds different without the full orchestra, and Jeff varied his vocal style in the performance compared to the album version. But some people thought it was great, and hey, ya can't please everyone. Lol

Thanks for suggesting this. I bought this album as an excited 13 year old when it was released. I'd heard two singles off it, Rockaria! and Telephone Line. But didn't know anything else. I got home and played it with my Dad listening. During that huge intro, my Dad said "it sounds like a Frankenstein film!" which is funny considering your comment about the t-shirt! And the reaction of the guys describing parts of the song as 'scary'!
