    Nice job is it very hard on the processor socket to pull out the old processor without unlocking first?

    • @TimsComputerRepair
      @TimsComputerRepair  Před 2 lety

      It is important if the heatsink is stuck to the cpu to be sure to pull and twist gently straight up in case you pull from the socket.

  • @ianmcleod6428
    @ianmcleod6428 Před 3 lety +8

    I've lost count how many times an AMD CPU has came out when removing a heat-sink. Having to remove the CPU from the paste. The slow wiggle (As you did yourself) is the safe way. Thankfully, never had an issue reinstalling or upgrading the AMD CPU when that happens. Great video, sir. Thank you for sharing.

    • @TimsComputerRepair
      @TimsComputerRepair  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah also applying a small amount of heat will aid in removing the heatsink. Thanks for commenting.

  • @MarvelousFRFX
    @MarvelousFRFX Před 9 měsíci

    So ive had a similar problem. I was gonna replace my old CPU with a new one and while i was trying to be as gentle as possible, it ripped out stuck to the heatsink. When i put my new CPU in the computer turns on but no post, but i figured out that my new one doesn't work with my current motherboard. I took that one out (wasn't ripped off like my previous one) and put my old CPU back in, but now my PC won't turn on at all with it in. I ordered a new motherboard but i was wondering if there's anyway to fix it before i replace the motherboard, or should i just wait til it gets here and replace?

    many a time i pulled a amd cpu ute with the heat sink going back to am2 and 1 or 2 old intel ones,you dont rip them out they just fall out when you pull the heat sink up.there is nothing you can do if its stuck to the chip all mine work fine after,,,

    • @TimsComputerRepair
      @TimsComputerRepair  Před 3 lety

      Yes but you can never just assume. I have only ripped one AMD cpu out of it's socket by accident. Since then I simply apply heat to the heatsink when needed and that will enable you to properly remove it. Thanks for commenting.

      @GregM Před 3 lety

    I just ripped my cpu out the same way he did, had the same issues, so this had me worried at first. Gave me a couple things to actually check, so thanks for this.
    Edit: wasn’t the RAM, so I’m still at a loss of what is preventing it from booting. It was still worth checking, at least.

    Time to watch the rest of it....
    Oh boy, the CPU came out with the cooler :/
    Right time to watch the rest
    ADDED afterwards...
    Woah.... Just when you think you seen it all, what the heck did he do to that CPU power to make it like that.
    Phew I thought he seriously messed that socket up then haha.
    What, after all that it was improper searing of the RAM, I thought they put the old RAM back in?
