  • Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, may improve your athletic performance, particularly in high-intensity sports and activities. It works by lowering acidity in working muscles, allowing you to exercise for longer periods of time. According to most studies, the most beneficial amount is 0.3 grams per kg taken 60-180 minutes before activity. Baking soda is a well-known fitness aid. Baking soda is used by athletes and those who engage in strenuous activity to help delay muscle exhaustion and increase performance. Its use is particularly common during short bursts of high-intensity activity. Sprinters, swimmers, and rowers have boosted their performances by taking baking soda before competing. However, consuming high amounts of baking soda is harmful, and it is not recommended for long-term use because it can increase your risk of hypokalemia, or a lack of potassium in your blood. Always talk to a doctor before using it to avoid health related issues.
