    A wonderful 3 rail layout. Many thanks for sharing. I think my little layout would fit comfortably in your station area!

    Brilliant ideas!
    Better than the Peco track cleaner "erasers" I used to use!

    Superb layout and note the printed diagram of the track layout. I am impressed with the Roundhouse etc. in the loco yard. A very realistic fully operational Dublo 3 Rail layout. Fascinating video, thanks.

    Happy New Year Ron; As always great content, lovely presentation, plus helpful tips using suitable wagons.
    For my layout I have a modified version of the ‘Tri-ang’ track cleaning car that enables me to easily substitute the pad for a ‘shoe’ that fits between the bogies and is weighted down by a medium sizes ‘balance weight’ as used to trim car wheels. The bottom of the shoe is faced with a removable piece of hardboard (Masonite in USA) - ROUGH side towards the track. This is wide enough to clean the small radius curves too. On completion of each section (eg UP line, DOWn line, shed etc, etc) I then use a carpenters pencil, sharpened to a chisel point, to coat about 1ft (300mm) of the 3 rails on that section and let the metal wheels distribute it around the outer rails on layout. The loco pickup distributes on the centre rail. My experience has been to extend the period between cleans by approx. three months.
    Keep Safe and Well and putting up your high quality and useful videos.
    Best Regards, Tony.
    PS An idea for a future video - How to apply the HD card insulating tabs to isolate sections of track correctly. T🚂

      @Kayson Randy i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now.
      Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

    Hi Ron. Another great video. Really helpful and informative. Could you tell me what size counter-sunk screws you use to fix the track down?

    • @Raedodd5
      @Raedodd5  Před 3 lety

      Yes they are 2mm x 10 or 12mm countersunk from Amazon, see my 'HD trackwork' video

    Great way of using a regular wagon as a track cleaner. You mentioned meths, how do you think IPA compares?

    • @harryfaber
      @harryfaber Před 3 lety

      Iso-propyl alcohol or India Pale Ale? I think any beer would tend to leave a sticky mess on the rail head...

    • @RobA500
      @RobA500 Před 3 lety

      @@harryfaber Surely that would add to traction 😉. Of course I do mean Iso-propyl alcohol though I think the latest craze is to use Inox as it prevents oxidation and apparently works very well.I’ve been tempted to try myself but it’s no good for traction tyres something I have too many of.

      @harryfaber Před 3 lety

      @@RobA500 I will be following Mr Dodd's advice, lighter fluid will evaporate fairly shortly after use, so it shouldn't cause problems with anything else. And 'moderation'. Enough to make the cleaning cloth damp. What I liked was his solutions for the hard to reach spots.

      At the moment I have too many shorts on my newly assembled 3 rail layout the train won't run and the controller just humsss help !

    • @RobA500
      @RobA500 Před 3 lety +1

      @@bertiewooster3326 you need to sort out the shorts before attempting to run anything, have you checked your wiring. It could be the track itself, I’m no expert on three rail but believe the middle rail should be insulated from the metal bed so if that has failed somewhere you will need to test each individual piece until the problem is found. It’s worth looking through Mr Dodd’s video library here as there are many useful tips to be found on track maintenance.
