Hi Ronald good morning after watching your excellent video on your magnetising tool and after purchasing one yesterday, this will help me out a lot to do all my Hornby dublo locos so thank you very much Colin.
I've had mine since 2017 and it's one of my favourite modelling tools. I can't imagine how many old Hornby Dublo locos are running well again because of you, Ron. Thanks again. Kev.
Thanks for the update, I have been wondering whether I could do my ringfield motor magnets. This is indeed a very useful gadget and I’m glad I bought one.
A superb video. Really informative! My loco collection has grown substantially in the last year, so I really should think about purchasing one of these. Once the layout is up and running, I imagine most of the locos will need a thorough remagnetising.
Thanks Mr Dodd. I have had mine in Spain only a few weeks. A great little piece of kit. Already started to pay for itself in the savings of sending locos to the UK to be remagnetised. So simple to use and so effective. I consider it to be a great investment. Thanks. D
Just acquired one used from ebay without multimeter. Already revived one of my Triang Bo Bo motors. Happy with the price I paid and it should pay for itself with my ageing fleet. Thanks for making these Ronald.
My magnetiser arrived here in Spain today, so perfect timing! Thanks Ron, excellent demonstration of how to use it properly, and thanks for the excellent quick service..
Hi Ronald, just so happens that I figured out how to re-mag the ring field magnets today by my own experimentation. Your magnetiser did a great job on my original 1971 Evening Star magnet for the ring field tender drive. The original magnet would barely attract the needle on the compass so it took a bit of figuring out. I ended up checking with iron filings (old school style). The Evening Star is back to tip top form. So I have to smile when you tube suggests this video tonight! 8 hours too late! But never mind. Your magnetiser continues to be put to good use and my old motors still run like new. Kindest regards Mal
PLUS you can pop a screwdriver in instead and magnetise that, useful for holding or picking up screws and other things! Works a treat on my Hornby-Dublo locos too!
I can attest that these magnetiser are brilliant and have given a new lease of life to my locomotives. Do you have a video up for servicing a Wrenn 2-6-4? I just can't get mine to run well, the motor makes a lot of noise despite adjusting the bearings and changing the balls, when it runs it slows down to a stop or shoots off at high speed. Thanks Mike
Hello there Ron. Interesting video. My Hornby ringfield motors only start moving when the power controller is over 50%. Is this because the magnets are no longer strong enough ?. Would your remagnetiser work on these ringfield magnets made in margate in the 80s and early 90s. If so I would love one .many thanks Paul
An exemplary video, thank you. Your device will have kept countless locomotives from premature retirement. Very useful part of my servicing kit. Seeing the Ringfield magnetisation, would it actually matter if the magnetic field was out-of-alignment? If the magnet is completely circular (like more modern Lima./Hornby), presumably it doesn't?
Yes it is most important that you retain the correct magnetic alignment as this reacts with the magnetic coils in the rota that switch according to their position on the contact carbon brushes.
@@Raedodd5 - Ahh yes. As I've just seen in a comment somewhere else, the ring magnet field must be perpendicular to the brushes. Would be good to see a demonstration of magnetising a Hornby (or Lima) Ringfield motor magnet, as these are completely circular.
Just came from 00bill's video. I'd seen you using it before but had no idea you actually sold them until now. I think I need one of these ! How much are they ? And can you ship to France?

Thanks Ronald. Even after using the magnetiser for several months I found one or two of you tips quite useful.
I’m so pleased with ours. Bought it for our son and me. It works perfectly.
Excellent video Ron. As usual very precise and methodical. Your magnetiser is definitely a value for money investment.
Hi Ron, received my magnetizer today. well worth the money. Works a treat.

Great to see a video from you again.
Good video, great info.
I bought one of these to remagnetize vintage slot car motors. Works perfectly. Well worth the money!
Lovely bit of physics.
first class bit of kit; well worth the money. as they say it does what it says on the box.
