    Damn!! Thank You so very much!!! Ive been searching for this for 7yrs!!! I hooked a long vac line to that onto that plastic T you put a cap on. I wrapped the line around my side mirror, then when i needed my 4x4 id roll down my window, suck on the line, push the 4x4 button & then quickly stick a golf tee into that vac line! 😂 Finally mystery Solved!!!

    I found this issue working on some thing else on my s10. Saw that some random vacuum lines were deteriorated near the area I was working. replaced the lines and found this video after the fact and watched to make sure I put it back the right way. Luckily for me there was a piece of old hose coming out of the fender component nipple.

    Thanks you so much !! My 4 x 4 ZR2 Sonoma wouldn't go into four wheel drive and mechanics at shop couldn't find vacuum leak. They saw the short 5/32" line and plugged it and four wheel drive kind of worked. They sent me home with it that way. I came across your video and removed the 10mm bolt and found the nipple where the line attaches. Took it back to them and showed them. My four wheel drive is FIXED THANKS TO YOU!! Jan

    I just want to add my thanks that you solved this mystery. I too thought it didn't make sense to have an open vac line but at the same time since I didn't see any connection and the open end looked to have never been connected ,thought maybe this is how it was designed . So glad I came upon ur video by chance .

    The 98+ vacuum can in thd fenders ONLY job is to provide backup vacuum under HEAVY ACCELERATION to the HVAC. It literally had ZERO to do with your 4x4. I'm on truck #7 over the past 30+ years and I know them well enough to 100% believe that your 4wd started miraculously working better after randomly jostling the lines around lol. But the facts in this case is you solved a weakened HVAC control actuators mainly blendoor functionality. But with an S-Series?? Tire pressure low and your passenger window gets stuck lol. These are finicky animals for sure! Glad you got your 4x4 going again- that's the only thing that matters. Just don't want some 20 something kid seeing this and believe it's going to solve his shorted out TC motor. It's an hvac line, that's it

    • @k30krazy
      @k30krazy  Před měsícem

      First off if someone is stupid enough to believe fixing a vacuum leak is going to an electrical problem that's not my problem. Second all I said was that the line was disconnected. I had no 4x4 because the axle actuator wasn't getting enough vacuum because of a leak. I plugged the leak and it worked fine. All this video states is I found out about the fender mounted vacuum canister and that's where that short line went. That did intact fix the hvac problems under acceleration like you mentioned. There's more than one issue I talked about here. Never said that the canister fixed the 4x4 problem

    I’m trying to fix my 1999 2wd 4.3 s10 and I’m having a misfire on idle, shortly after I found this entire 3-way hose sitting under my brake booster. Thankfully to you I found the vacuum canister now so I know where one hose goes but where does the other two? Any tips would be helpful but thank you for the video as well

      That T of three lines... one to the canister on the right the middle on mine went to a hard plastic line through the firewall for hvac controls and the left side went to a line on the manifold. I forget which one

    My 2nd hand 98 2.2L LS had an audio intake vacuum leak 3' hose from one of the top ports which I capped on the Throttle-B routed in the direction to the left fender. I found the same extremely deteriorated hose but it's 7/32 GM1486-M 111497. The label outlasted the hose's structure. Cheating GM hoses were made and installed on all Chevy vehicles back in the 90s. So, 30 years have passed. Anyway, mine was also just hanging around like yours. What I don't know is where the 3rd line connects to? Some videos show it connects to a round hood HVAC Reservoir canister which I don't have. Is it missing? I don't have a 4x4. The check valve may have fallen off to the pavement years ago because the end of the hose crumbled. Now, I don't know if I just connect the new hose directly to the fender vacuum canister's barb. Glad you pic that male Barb.

    Hey K30Krazy, Great Video.. I had the same issue and took care of that. I don't know where these lines are hooked up to. I still have the same 3 way plastic tee line that you have with the green marks on it going down the driver's side and the line that disappears towards the engine block. I'm still hearing a hissing sound on the open t line nipple. Thanks if you can help out. I just replaced distributor cap and rotor this morning..! Thanks

    • @k30krazy
      @k30krazy  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks! So those lines on the other 2 ports go to the hvac and the intake. The one going towards the firewall to a hard line us for hvac. The one going towards the engine goes to the intake for your vacuum source.

    You didn't happen to have a P0300 code when that line was disconnected did you? I had a 97 that I couldn't get to run right. When I parted it out I found a vacuum line diwn by the transfer case was disconnected. I suspect that was the cause of my P0300 problem. By the time I found that, it was too late to fix it. Id already sold parts and cut wiring and all that. I was annoyed. Also, on the late 90s blazers (96-99ish),the vacuum canister you speak of is mounted to the bottom of the hood, in close proximity to where yours is in the fender.

    • @k30krazy
      @k30krazy  Před 10 měsíci +1

      So the one side goes to the fender for the vacuum canister, the other across from it goes to the manifold for your vacuum source, the third perpendicular one connects to a plastic line with a section of rubber and it goes through the firewall. It's the vacuum for you hvac controls
