    Rear shock for the 2018 Honda Gold Wing from Traxxion Dynamics.
    Traxxion has developed a suspension that is more comfortable for both rider and passenger. The load support is improved, leading to a more confidence inspired riding experience.
    Rear shock includes the Traxxion Steel Braided Line for 2018 Gold Wing Pre-Load Adjuster
    As with the previous generation Gold Wing the 2018 has a rubber line that allows air to get in the line for the hydraulic preload adjuster. Traxxion Dynamics recommends bleeding the preload adjuster and topping it off with fresh oil plus installing the Traxxion Dynamics Steel Braided Line. The steel braided line replaces the OEM plastic line.
    The OEM line tends to swell over time which allows air in the system. When there is air in the system you do not have a full range of adjustment with the preload adjuster.
    With the Traxxion Dynamics Steel Braided Line, manufactured specifically for the 2018 model Gold Wing, the system will be sealed much better than OEM. Very similar to steel braided lines in a brake system.

    I've got a 2019 and I've had no problems with the suspension. I weigh over 220 and I placed mine in one up rider with a load from the beginning. Two up when I ride with my 12 yr old niece...no problems, no need for an upgrade!

    Is it softer or harder after the swap? I dont want to make my bike more stiff. I need it to be even softer at the rear..

    • @WingStuffcom
      @WingStuffcom  Před 5 lety +3

      If you tour, the bike stock is just fine, it's the best handling GoldWing to date straight out of the box. To answer your question, it’s more consistent, I wouldn’t call it stiffer. But in terms of it being softer than stock? No, it’s firmer, but very consistent and comfortable. Thanks for the question! Ride safe.

    I've seen a few reviews saying the 2018 was quite harsh on bumps, maybe their rear preload was just set to the minimum and they were bottoming out? I'm 200lbs, and will be riding with my 120lbs gf, and really looking forward to demoing the latest generation goldwing. I want comfort, if I want sportiness there's plenty better, lighter options out there :)

    I'm over here in the UK with a 1981 GL1100 and 2004 GL1800. Been getting sleepless nights over whether to swap the 18 in for a new DCT but having watched so many ride reviews (less luggage space and over complicated infotainment), and all of Max's videos on the new suspension, I'm not convinced that it's worth the 20,000GBP I'd have to find. But my question is, how do US bike insurers view these suspension upgrades (and darksiders for that matter). UK insurers don't want to know and what's the point of riding a 30,000GBP motorcycle on insurance that's null and void?

      This is the *first* upgrade to consider? Are you getting a paycheck from these guys? (laughing) I've run this machine from coast to coast twice, and the suspension is just one more piece of engineering excellence on this bike.

    • @mengy3007
      @mengy3007 Před 6 lety

      B. Randal, that's a lot of miles on the new GWT. Did you have any issues with premature tire cupping or irregular wear?

    • @b.randal5404
      @b.randal5404 Před 6 lety +1

      Nothing out of the ordinary. Standard left side bias wear. TWI's all showing even at all points (360). I've run only sets of the B-stones so far. Had a couple odd tire indications (warning lights) but they were false alarms - one of which I understood and some I'm not entirely certain of why it indicated. . I've been watching this bike like a hawk through ups, downs, mountains, plains, hail, fire and rain...LOL ;-) Plain and simple? I'm impressed. I've been riding a long time. Ridden them all - took a rat 350 from Maine to Florida two times (I don't recommend it) - and while I could give you a list of persnickety points, this bike came out of the box ready to pick a fight and kick some ass - which it has done. LOL

    • @vics-videos
      @vics-videos Před 6 lety

      Well, let's put it this way:
      1. Mine is a 2002 GL1800 and I just got it, and I don't remember what my 2001 felt like, but on this one the front suspension feels HARSH almost like it is either bottomed out most of the time, or the the anti-dive mechanism is kicked in full time.
      2. I got the Fully Monty upgrade just 2 weeks ago, and it's like night and day. The biggest difference is that it absorbs small- and medium-sized bumps now without delivering the bump all the way to the handlebars. The next biggest difference is that I can feel SO much more relaxed on bumpy curves. Way better control.
      3. So for me, had I known about this sooner, YES, of all the mods on this bike, THIS is the one I would have considered first.
      4. No, I'm just a customer who's now very happy with my suspension.

      @vics-videos Před 6 lety

    I've put the new GWT through serious trials. Track and field. Unless someone can explain the *need* (read that as "check your motives") for breaking down a marvel of engineering to retrofit yet another set of "Miracle "Upgrades" - I think I'll pass. This machine rides like a rail bound cheetah right out of the box. I'll have to echo wisdom that has served me well - Why would you "fix" functioning excellence?

    • @rtt3114
      @rtt3114 Před 6 lety +3

    • @roadglide
      @roadglide Před 5 lety +2

      I agree this bike is an engineering marvel. It rides sufficiently enough for most folks. To me it’s not a fix but rather an enhancement. Like putting coil-over suspension on your Corvette or sports car. It’s OEM suspension as engineered for the car works just fine, but the coil-overs bring the car to another level of handling capability by a tighter ride and feel of the machine. It’s for those to extrapolate even more out of their GoldWings.

    Hey Rick. I'm a complete fan of Traxxion Dynamics but here's the thing. You spend $30k on a GW then you're accepting of the FACT that you NEED to spend another $3k on Max to put right what Honda should have done for $30k in the first place. All hail to Max, he's a God as far I'm concerned. But it gets me that 99% of 2018+ GW owners appear to blindly ignore the elephant in the room. At $30k for a GW Max should be out of business. Rock on Max.

    • @WingStuffcom
      @WingStuffcom  Před 3 lety

      Hey there Michael. First off, thanks for your comment and for raising an important and popular concern. Do you NEED to upgrade your suspension for the 2018+ Gold Wing? Well I guess it depends on who you ask. In my opinion the stock suspension and handling on the 2018+ Gold Wing is THE absolute best I've experienced on a Wing. Can it be better? Of course it can! Do I want to improve my riding experience through better handling and suspension? Of course I do! Is it worth the cost to make something great even better? That's up to each individual to decide. I’ve always done modifications to improve suspension on all my bikes. Even if it’s great, if I can improve it, why not? Maybe for most, they’re already very satisfied. I hope this helps...ride safe!

      @@bladerunna2022 Not really. My wife and I weigh in at under 300lbs. Other couples might be 4-500lbs or more. Then add luggage (and even trailer tow ball weight). Those silly icons mean nothing. I've been a Wingnut for over 40 years, my first was a '76 GL1000. EVERY generation of GW has never had suspension that was up to the weight or the price tag.
