    In this 16th installment of Rick's Reviews, WingStuff.com's President and Founder Rick Arnoldo shares his thoughts and insights on his Traxxion suspension upgrade for his 2018 Gold Wing.
    About this product:
    Front shock
    Traxxion has developed a suspension that is more comfortable for both rider and passenger. The load support is improved, leading to a more confidence inspired riding experience.
    Weight: 8 lbs
    Dimensions: 26x8x8 in
    Rear shock
    Traxxion has developed a suspension that is more comfortable for both rider and passenger. The load support is improved, leading to a more confidence inspired riding experience.
    Rear shock includes the Traxxion Steel Braided Line for 2018 Gold Wing Pre-Load Adjuster
    As with the previous generation Gold Wing the 2018 has a rubber line that allows air to get in the line for the hydraulic preload adjuster. Traxxion Dynamics recommends bleeding the preload adjuster and topping it off with fresh oil plus installing the Traxxion Dynamics Steel Braided Line. The steel braided line replaces the OEM plastic line.
    The OEM line tends to swell over time which allows air in the system. When there is air in the system you do not have a full range of adjustment with the preload adjuster.
    With the Traxxion Dynamics Steel Braided Line, manufactured specifically for the 2018 model Gold Wing, the system will be sealed much better than OEM. Very similar to steel braided lines in a brake system.
    Weight: 8 lbs
    Dimensions: 26x8x8 in

    I love my upgrade. Did it in '21. Just installed manual preload adjuster.
    BTW dampening is something you do with water.

    Even though this post has been repackaged, slicked up and the rhetoric toned down, it still sells a wallet wedge that appeals to those of us who are Goldwing aficionados who can't resist the urge to tinker with things that need no tinkering. LOL ;-) After speaking to a seasoned rider of nearly 50 years who just rode the new 2018 Goldwing from California to New England - and through the recent flooding rains across the east coast - about this "improvement" to the Goldwing suspension he had this to say with a knowing smile and a chuckle: "There are some folks who will line up to spend hard earned cash to paint a mustache on the Mona Lisa"
    I think that just about sums it up. :-)

    • @roadglide
      @roadglide Před 5 lety +4

      For you it sums it up. We can all go through our lives and pick areas we lacked financial discipline. Life is short, do what makes you happiest. If people walk away thrilled with a Traxxion Dynamics suspension enhancement, who are we to say how they should spend their GNP dollars. Not everyone will be looking to extrapolate more performance out of their new generation GoldWing. However ride a Traxxion Dynamics bike at Wing Ding and decide for yourself. There is a difference. Otherwise opinions are like....And everyone’s got one. Buzz kill.

    • @b.randal5404

      @@roadglide It's interesting to see what folks take away from my comment:
      Objective reality (as if it were *just* opinion) boiled down to financial discipline and happiness in a mysteriously “short” life. How absurd. As my grandfather would say "Either it's a duck or it ain't"
      ---And as for a well considered "opinion" being a "buzz kill"... If someone’s self-belief so thin that a comment on a CZcams channel kills their buzz when they enjoy pouring their “GNP(???)” money down the drain, they might want to steer clear of riding a motorcycle altogether. I've heard knitting is a wonderful hobby. Hmmmmm I wonder if I could knit a new Goldwing if I used steel wool? ;-) LOL

    Great Video! Question: Did the upgrade take away some of that "Plush" riding feeling you get with a Goldwing? I may pull the trigger this spring but that is my biggest fear.

    • @WingStuffcom
      @WingStuffcom  Před rokem

    Damping, not dampening. Considering this for my 2018. It is fine on smooth, well paved roads, but rough roads or in sport mode it lags.

    • @WingStuffcom
      @WingStuffcom  Před 6 lety

      Yes you are correct. Thanks for pointing that out. Literally every Gold Wing rider that we've talked to who has done this upgrade says they made the right choice.

    • @b.randal5404
      @b.randal5404 Před 6 lety +3

      Of course they *say* they made the right choice! ;-) LOL It's called Post Purchase Rationalization... it is a cognitive bias exhibited by Goldwing owners who have dumped a load of money on an expensive accessory or "Upgrade" and overlook any faults, defects or feelings of being an idiot, in order to justify their purchase. AKA "Choice-Supportive Bias". For example when I had to take out a second mortgage on my home in order to buy 4 or 5 hundred pounds of stick-on chrome for my 30th anniversary Wing. We were homeless for the next three years, but **by gum** that was the shiniest machine east or west of the Mississippi. And the temporary blindness the bike sometimes caused was worth every penny. LOL :-)

      @@b.randal5404 true, I spend money on upgrades in my younger years. Maybe a bit better, but not worth the spending. I keep everything stock these days, spend the money on petrol or insurance. Better resale value too.

      @WingStuffcom  Před 4 lety

      Hi Jim...unfortunately there aren't any authorized installers in Northern California. I recommend searching for someone in your area who is experienced at swapping out stock suspension. That will most likely be your best bet. If you can, however, I recommend you take it to one of Traxxion's authorized installers. The one closest to you would be in southern Cal in Buena Park 90620.

    Rick good review. Those Honda engineers involved in this project should be terminated! Corporate expected a warm reception for introducing and inferior product that needs to be tweaked. Shame on Honda!

    • @b.randal5404
      @b.randal5404 Před 4 lety

      So interestingly enough, after two years have passed - the assessment of an "inferior product" turns out to be utterly absurd. And what has turned out to be the net "failures" of the new Goldwings as surfaced by professionals? Luggage space. Good review? In a pig's eye. Shame on Honda? The only shame I can see surrounding this issue is by virtue of a serious case of negative critiques that have the validity of politician's honor.
