    I went with the "Full Monty" plus the handlebar set backs on my 01..
    had to reteach my self how to drive it, by not having to compensate for the poor stock suspension. what a difference it made.
    I accused Max of steeling 100lbs of weight off my bike,,,,lol

    Great video. Hi from the UK. My 2004 came with a Hyperpro front and rear spring upgrade when I bought it in 2014 so I've never experienced the typically woeful stock suspension. I say woeful because no Goldwing ever left the factory with suspension that was up to the job, including the 2018+.
    The first improvement I fitted was a Kuri 5 piece fork brace, then I serviced the rear shock reservoir to restore the full 0-25 range, then last year fitted a mono-cartridge front suspension upgrade and Traxxion's Triple Tree with taper roller bearings. As you say, it's I different bike beyond words.

    I always sound like Im bragging when I talk about how good the bike is with the mega monty. Its honda that chose to put underdamped and undersprung suspension on their flagship product. Its so much safer now. I remember the ride back home from Atlanta. I used to think its just normal to experience buffeting from the semi trucks on the hiway. That’s totally gone with this upgrade. The helmet shake went away with the windbender windshield with rake kit. Great video. I was first bike in also and was on the road at 11:45.

    After 9 years and 75k miles it is finally time to upgrade my ol' Victory Cross Country's suspension. I mainly use this bike for backroad touring and frequently with my wife on board. The stock suspension has done okay, but it can be harsh and has all the shortcomings of un-tuned suspension. My forks are on the way to Traxxion Dynamics for installation and setup of the AK-20 Axxion cartridges and they will get returned with a setup Penske 8900 shock to replace the tired air\oil stock shock. I'm looking forward to how the Vic is going to feel and handle twisting through the backroads 👍 Thanks for your review and inside look.

    • @focusontheride9461
      @focusontheride9461  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, those prices include parts and labor. There is a detailed price breakdown on their web site. Labor is a significant component of that, so if you’re so inclined, you can remove the shocks yourself, send them to Traxxion to be rebuilt, then reinstall them. That would save you some $$$. In fact when I was there, I saw a rack of customer’s fork tubes (from various bikes, not just Goldwings) that had been shipped to them to be rebuilt. I do all of my own basic maintenance, but I wasn’t eager to tackle this myself. After watching them do the upgrade on my bike, I was glad that I had them do the work.

    • @focusontheride9461
      @focusontheride9461  Před 2 lety

      Current prices are listed on Traxxion.com. I think that there was a price hike after I had the work done on my bike. I had previously installed the fork brace, so I didn’t pay for that again. So it cost me about $3200 for the front shocks, rear shock and billet triple clamps. It’s about 2/3 parts, 1/3 labor. After watching them do the work in their awesome shop, I was glad that I had them do the work rather than spin wrenches myself. Worth EVERY penny.

      @@focusontheride9461I'm reading this comment 2 years later and Max might have increased his prices. I'm curious too because I bought the Fork seal change kit and did my own servicing. Mine was done shade tree surgeon style and not in a nice spacious workshop like Traxxion's. One thing good about doing the fork seal change and installing the Kuryakyn fork brace, the bike is very stable and rides like new.

    • @focusontheride9461
      @focusontheride9461  Před 2 lety +4

      It did not cost that much. I had already purchased the fork brace several years ago, so did not pay for that again. Also, I believe that there has been a price hike after I had the work done on my bike at the beginning of the summer. Regarding the car tire, the issues with the stock suspension - soft springs, fork flex, preload adjustments, wallowing - existed with the stock Bridgestones. The bike is such a pleasure to drive now that for me it was worth the expense. YMMV.

      Gee I would not knock a guy like max who took the time to develop the best products in the aftermarket for Goldwingers. When I was there he had many other bikes in for service not just goldwings. He has a history of race bike tuning that flows into his products.The only advice from him I found that is questionable was the rear tire pressure but I’m 240lbs. The stock Bridgestone will flatspot under 40psi on my F6b. I’m really enjoying the bike, was worth every penny. If max points out products that don’t work we can save our money on the stuff that does.

  • @chgotom
    @chgotom Před měsícem

    Smart upgrade, I have a Progressive one plus the brace. But looking at your tires... are you kidding me??? All that work on your Wing and you are riding on a dark side car tire? I'm amazed how Traxxion guys even wanted to start to work on your bike in the first place at all. Car tires belong on cars not motorcycles! Plus your front tire looks pretty worn out too. Get a set of Dunlop Elite 4 or Bridgestone Exedra, you will be much safer.
