What I wonder: They doing swab tests and search suitcases without gloves. But they tell you can pickup traces of drugs quite everywhere. What about cross contamination by hands from officers?
Incompetent Buffoons.
a trace of drug is not a proof of actual drug, it's an indication to further and thoroughly inspect luggage and passenger.
@@sachadee.6104 I never said it to be a proof. But a personal search of the passenger and throughout inspection of the luggage takes a lot of time. So what if a lot of those searches were not nessecary because the first hint (positive swab test) was provoked by an officer cross contaminating tests? So my question is: How many time intensive searches with negative result could have been avoided by using single use gloves while inspecting the personal belongings of a passenger.
You sound so guilty 😅
@@felixlohrer9600 Their gloves are disposable and I assume they sanitise between searches or it would be a waste of time. They'd hardly have time to move if they accidentally deposited trace evidence of drugs on every item they handled.
The title of this video is "Most Suspicious Passengers Caught At The Airport!". But none of them actually had drugs. So they weren't really caught. They were detained.
...unlawful detention is a tort in many places.
One was even denied entry even though he had nothing on him ! I feel a lot safer though.
@@heyhandersen5802 Being held at an airport for investigation of drug trace readings is hardly "unlawful detention".
🙈
@@heyhandersen5802True but they have the right to detain and search you and to question you.
They only caught cigarette smugglers the rest was a waste of my time watching this.
I thought of it as they are just showing things they do.
This is the worst
You should kerp watching..Try border patrol, Australia. Lots more drug smugglers and visa violators of various types.
That's unfair. It's a difficult job. I think the officers' handling of these cases was professional and tactful. Nowhere did they judge the passengers; they just made decisions based on the evidence before them (ie the passengers' answers and the swab tests)
To my eyes, all I see are professionals doing an excellent job.
If the last guy seemed edgy, you stated. The other agent told you he had not eaten or drunken anything in 2 days, as well he was epileptic and had been having mini seizures and needed his medication. Well I would say that all those reasons are why he was edgy as you put it.
I can’t believe they put him under arrest when they didn’t even have any proof that he actually had drugs on/in/with him! And then they just unarrest him after they realize he has nothing?! That arrest was ludicrous!
They have an awful lot of false positives for cocaine....in every one of these shows.
Probably why these incidents are featured, good audience grab. 😊
Yes a lot of waste of precious time and energy
Incompetent Buffoons.
And no needed xray
The machine has an infrared camera and it beeps in the presence of brown people.
So a ton of false hits Im thinking theres something up with that machine. LOL😂
Inside the machine is a little man covering his eyes and throwing little darts at the wall. Thats what decides what drug it tests positive for.
Not false hits, obviously. The question is the reason for the traces showing up on the test.
Fun fact: tests have shown that 92% of bills (money) have trace amounts of coke on them. Its everywhere and on everything. They need better tests.
I had the same thought. I wonder how sensitive they are and if this already is enough.
I wonder what would happen if they just put something in the water supply to reduce the number of users. Should cut down on the criminal element. 🤔
@@theoztreecrasher2647 ???
@@xYonowaaru Time for some education
Those machines are bogus. So many readings of illegal substances turn out to be nothing. I had the same thing happen to me. They said there was high readings of coke on my shoes. They searched and found nothing. I've never even used drugs. I think you can easily transfer traces of it onto your clothes and shoes just by staying in hotels.
Truth of the matter is, we are watching it after they speed it up. The process is actually a lot longer and slower. It can test anyone's patience.
Imagine coming in on a late flight, you've got an expensive hotel booked and they charge you as a no show. I'd be furious to be kept back a losing money.
I wouldn't be able to stand it.
They know that the officers are cross-contaminating people's luggage but do nothing to prevent it. They could wear gloves and change them between searches but the contamination gives them probable cause to search innocent travellers.

early stage...it gets worse@@deathftmelancholy
Well spotted. Obvious cross-contamination, now that you've pointed it out!

In the US all TSA agents and Customs agents wear gloves.
my mom bought us a Mayan statue that Customs drilled a hole in.This was back in 2004. We now have a $5,000 artifact worth $300
Artifacts belongs in a museum🗿
Smuggled out of country! Tch tch. Surprised they didn't seize it and charge you.
Okay ,I'll clear it up. It was a 5 foot tall statue that was hand carved by a Mexican artist. My wording of "artifact" was probably misleading.
It wasn't an authentic Mayan piece
It was yours and that’s all that matters
Wonder if shipping it might have been better 🤔
So just saw a show where they stopped a guy for not having enough money on them for their trip to Australia, so you can get stopped from leaving UK because you carry too much money but not allowed in Australia because you aren't carrying enough money.
The concern in Australia is that you will work whist on a tourism visa to earn money. Unless you have a sponsor how can you support yourself during your holiday if you don't have sufficient funds upon arrival.
There's carrying thousands of pounds in cash and then there's bringing a debit/credit card with enough funds.
some folk don't use cards, only cash while travelling. Shouldn't automatically judge just because a traveller has only cash.
Bla
Using large amounts of cash to buy a plane ticket subjects you to search in North America
GEEZ! They need to clean their machines of all previous swabs.
Wonder why they denied the Fisherman from Trinidad. He seemed genuine, was fully cooperative and had nothing to hide. Their swab machines could be broken?
Other aspects of the interview didn't jibe. His ticket was only purchased 1 day before by a third party. It send them red flags.
Yeah that guy is rushing you... He suffers from seizures and is sick. You said it wouldn't take long. I don't blame people who are innocent for getting annoyed. Humiliating.
I never understood why you can't travel with cash as long as you obtained it legally.
Cuz your not a Saudi 😂
Because in most country, you can't carry more than a certain amount of cash. If you do legal business, you ask for special permission to carry cash with you. Seniors of my company did it often when they were dealing with Yelstin's Russia. Bank transfers weren't reliable at all.
@FR-PL-UA-WARSZAWA we can't have more than $10k in usa. Years ago I traveled to Scotland and decided to have a little cash and use my credit card. Spend time to explain to brits how do I gonna support my self. Next time I have a cash, something around $3k well that was also questionable. But scanner found gun powder on my hands and after showing my usa passport and military ID they just let me go ... yet, cash was suspicious 😅😂
You generally can, you just have to declare it.
aslong as the amount is declared -it should be otay!
I have been singled out after flying back to the USA. Never caught with anything. Not into drugs. But after a 16-hour flight in the economy section, all I want to do is get out of the airport, breath some fresh air, and get away from people. Being searched, and asked frivolous questions is irritating.
Maybe so but just declare and do the right thing they are doing their job

When I was 58 I flew solo to New Zealand and I was quite stressed because I had never flown internationally before and it was a long haul flight. The very first checkpoint at OR Tambo airport a lady told me her dog was very interested in my bag and could she have a look. I had 3 months prescription drugs with me. Anyway, I was subjected to special attention at every counter until I landed in New Zealand. And I was innocent!! Just a bit stressed.
Every counter until you landed, there's no counters on the plane and one customs counter in NZ. Customs has a job to do and I you are carrying medication obviously the dog is going to alert. I have always had a great time with nz customs
@@tclanjtopsom4846
Excellent job failing at basic grade school level reading comprehension. The OP never even implied there were counters on any airplane. Nor did they imply or suggest that a dog would not hit upon prescription drugs. You invented that nonsense all on your own. They were not even complaining about the dog.
Go back, try again. Only this time, READ and COMPREHEND what was actually stated. You couldn't have missed what was actually stated any more had you been born last night.
And like it or not, your personal life experience will hardly ever coincide with another's life experience, nor does your life experience EVER determine another's life experience. Earth orbits the sun, not you. Your opinion in no possible way negates anyone else's experiences. Just so you know.
Well... presuming you manage to comprehend this comment. Public record shows that could be unlikely however.
i'd give you 5 years for being nervous.
Make sure you carry a notice from your physician about your medications affirming that you're on these medications for treatment of health conditions. If any are used off label for treatments, have the doctor also note that it's being used and prescribed off label to treat such and such condition. It can be very helpful for both you and the officers together. Keep a printed out inventory of all medications you are carrying with you, the diagnosis they're used to treat you for, and, if you want, a receipt from the pharmacy for everything you have with you. For me I am on many medications and that's what I do anytime I travel. The officers actually really appreciate the diligence and attention paid to the matter on your end and it makes it so much more of a smooth process. :).
I also have diseases that cause me to have tremors. Sometimes they're rapid and fast sometimes they're less noticeable. They are easily confused for nervousness and for other issues. My eyes don't properly focus all the time either due to neurological issues which further alerts their suspicions because they don't know I have these health issues. I always carry a medical ID card with me from a company like MyID or another one that has my health record and explains these symptoms so that they can clearly see this is what's going on and no cause for alarm on their end. It's a huge help for them to have that too.
@@Ibuddy66 This is a useful post. Thank you.
Watched the first case.. nothing?
Then I remembered that the most irrational, intrusive and rude officials I've encountered in decades of travelling have been at UK airports.
What's baffling to me is that they could just take that cash the guy had assuming it was money gained from tax evasion.... What a complete joke... You can't assume anything what if he sold something , he was given the money from his family.... It's illegal to have cash now? Why is cash even a thing then?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Same here.
I traveled a lot, never been picked out, I know to be polite and to comply, but at London airport, they were the most rude and nasty to me.
You've obviously never flown into the US. I'll take British Customs officials any day. But then again, I don't fly to another country with contraband or the intention to break the law.
@@SuzyQ334 I have flown a few times to US and not had any issue though I do now they have monstered friends of mine not for contraband but the suspicion they might work.
These officers can do cross-contamination due to the fact that they keep swabbing each passenger's baggage without washing their hands.
I recently watched part of a video of customs at an Australian airport. A significant part of it was about a "biosecurity" inspection. The customs agent was incompetent beyond belief, failing in even rudimentary handling methods. This is presumably because the agency is incompetent and its hiring and training standards are low. Another agent wore gloves when inspecting something presumed to contain illicit drugs, but then touched his face with his gloved hands.
I'm a proud born and bred Londoner but it absolutely blows me away that British customs officials do searches without wearing gloves. Of course there is a risk of cross-contamination. Also, if that were me I wouldn't want to touch these people or their belongings without gloves. Euww!!!
@@SuzyQ334 if they wear the same gloves will be the same thing as not wearing
The fisherman from Trinidad did not seem suspicious to me. As someone who moved away from a place with fall, I do try to time my visits to that place to be in fall! It is a lovely experience.
So how many false readings on their machines until it’s recalibrated. Seems there are too many false readings. Looks like the customs officers are the ones cross contaminating the machines.
They need to get this recalibrated to a reasonable level since nothing was found on any of the passengers.
They question not having enough cash for the lady passenger but steal the money from another person transiting through.
Looks like a bunch of legalized crooks.

how on earth is there no fine for importing that many cigarettes!? I get they said it was their first time but that was obscene
Well, there was, indirectly. They had to buy the things in the first place, so they lost all that money they invested in their smuggling attempt.
And I would say there's a good chance those cigarettes were actually sold, with all appropriate taxes, so the Crown made a bit off their end.
@@MGower4465 they were smuggling into the UK not out of. They buy it in a country where they’re cheaper and less taxed and sell in a country that is taxed but you’re selling them under the table so you’re not paying those extra taxes.
My older family who smoked would get theirs in Mexico or a reservation but like they say in the video it’s limited to a couple cases a person so you can’t make hundreds of grand off of it.
@@genericamerican7574 Um, yeah. You misunderstood my comment. Why wouk4d UK Customs be checking outbound luggage? Its made clear the would be smugglers brought them from Gran Carinas. The voiceover states the rules are 1 carton is allowed. Per person. Not per molecule in their bodies. I think I heard all they would probably get in actusl profit was 2 to 4 thousand between them. And that doesn't count airfare, accomodations and expenses on the islands. Possibly costs for a travel visa if required. Altogether there seems very little profit potential and a massive investment with attendant massive risk to lose half, in case one of the two got through, or, as happened, all because the two both got caught. Even if the paid 1 Pound a carton they both lost 32,000. And they certainly were nowhere near that cheap. My mothervis a smoker, and said here in the US cigarettes are 4 bucks a pack, so 40 for a carton. A quick look said cartons are between 30 and 40 Pounds, once converted from Euros. At the low end since one person implied that was a cheaper brand, that's 960,000 Pounds each.
No, I was saying the cigarettes were certainly not destroyed, but resold within the UK by government dustributors, with the correct tax added. That's free money for the government. The retail price seems to be a whopping 15 Pounds in the UK, per *pack* a bit of quick math and retail for 32000 cartons is 4.8 million Pounds. And there were two, so 9.6 million. Sure, that's not a lot to a national government, but its way too much to think they just incinerated that haul.
gilmangus8 said this:
"Re the contraband cigarettes, the fact that, combined, he and his partner carried just under the limit to avoid arrest, indicates they are professional smugglers."

@stboyzz9059 I think it's just more of a natural human response. Watching interrogation videos innocent people react with shock and agitation when accused of things they didnt do
The guilty parties are the calmest ones. Yea i mean logically you'd think innocent people would be calm. I remember one time we had a drug dog come into our room in school and I almost had a nervous wreck even though I had nothing.
If they have nothing to hide, then there is nothing to be afraid of; the sooner they comply, the sooner they can go.
Congratulations, you just received the usual answers like 'if you're an honest person you don't have anything to be worried of', coming from people who would be totally p*ssed off to be strip searched while crossing the border. We, law abiding citizens, need more judgemental skills from custom agents, those random controls seem to have the limit in efficiency.
Over zealous airport cops... who won't be nervous? They are hardly calming, Super suspicious and very insinuating. Poor passengers..
I’ve watched a lot of these shows on television and have seen many smugglers caught. In this video not one person they searched was found to have any contraband. Seems to me they are not very good at what they’re doing.
They're good at what they're doing. Nobody is psychic. And so when certain classic warning signs trigger an alert they have to do the searches. Also in order to maintain standards and to insure the officers are properly screening people, they often are required to do various random searches throughout their shifts as well that are not based on any readings, but that are used for controls in the process. These keep officers on their toes and actually help them hone their skills at determining a false positive before they even reach a need to do a search. These are good that they're happening, not bad.
these people were not caught. They were harassed by customs as I have been several times.

The less I have to hide the more I am annoyed being stopped not the other way around.
I wonder from some of these results, two things. 1) Whether or not the contamination of drugs comes from the fact that agents are not wearing gloves. and 2) When was the last time these machines calibrated.
When I was in Mexico a dog hit on my tote bag. He was looking for food being carried into the area. I happily said here look at it and there has probably been snacks in there previously but there was not snacks in there now. It was an experience.

Mexico is really strict about that. If you bring food, it has to be sealed up in a factory wrapped container. You can open it once you get there and eat it, though.
I'm absolutely shocked at the lack of gloves... not only because of cross-contamination, but mainly touching other people and their belongings which could be full of drugs, disease, sweat, etc... I work airport security in a different EU country and gloves are one of our most important rules.

Those consistent false positives with nothing to back them up; doesnt that mean that the machines are defective?
In every country in the world, discussing with officers leads nowhere
guy at 18:00 just wants to feel the touch of another person. He is innocent but devious hahahaha
So, apparently, there are traces of illegal drugs on everyone and it usually means nothing. I am so glad I do not have to travel. This would wreck me. And, does this mean that people are getting an arrest record for nothing as well?
The glue and other materials used in making joggers sets those machines off a lot, and customs know that.
No, you if a officer or a boarder patrol search you and find nothing you won't have an arrest record for 2 main reasons: 1) you haven't been arrested but only searched 2) the "arrest record" doensn't exist in qny developed country. You can have a record only if you have been found guilty of something, not if you are accused of something. In second place the computer doesn't riveal "drugs" but chimical substances that can or cannot be drugs. Every single cleaning product in existance will result positive to any chemical drug test therefore every test has an high chance to be useless
Very odd how many times it test positive but no drugs. I wonder what is making it test positive? I think they need to look at their test better and see if they can figure out what this test is really finding.
A weekend in the canaries is hardly worth it you spend more time travelling and waiting in airports 😂😂
So they get to illegally and immorally search my private person and luggage without any warrant or evidence to support the search. And if I get upset about it, that is suspicious?
Here's the best advice for innocent travelers and smugglers: Speak the language, be calm, be respectful. Honestly, most smugglers would be fine if they do that. Pop a beta blocker if you need to calm down the uncontrolled physical symptoms of stress.
While you’re making sense, you don’t get to tell innocent ppl how to react to being under suspicion for drugs. It’s infuriating. Any boarder officer who has a problem with the attitudes their suspicion and searches generate should find another job.
LOL @ "just do drugs" to avoid showing suspicious "nervousness" about having drugs. 🤦
I take a beta blocker and I dont think it calms me down. Maybe I'm off the chain.
@@marzymarrz5172 Like with most meds, your mileage may vary.
The title is misleading because no one was caught except the tobacco guy that was let go.
That's odd: watching Customs from Australia, people who don't carry a sufficient amount of cash when entering AU are forbidden to enter. In GB they confiscate all cash and send you on your way. You got to love it!
You are totally wrong for saying so, that guy was a liar when asked by agent......, he was always saying no.....but after checked his record in the past, just last year he brought to UK with illegal cigarettes and being charged with illegal smuggling, it means the $4000 pounds he was carrying illegal tax evasion from any illegal gaining being confiscated.
My question. Do they clean (and how) that machine off after every swab? They stick a swab in, and another. The MACHINE is the trace source.
It does you no good to argue with airline personal. I l. They always have the upper hand.
Grin and bear it.
These personnel have nothing to do with any airline. They are law enforcement border agents employed by the British government.
I taught my kids never to pi*s off anyone with a badge and a uniform because they have the power to make your life very uncomfortable. Just stay within the law and be polite, I said, especially when you're in the wrong. I was given this piece of wisdom by my mother. It's probably the best advice she ever gave me.
They literally just wasted everyone's time, including mine
thanks for posting.
Why not wear gloves when search for drugs!
Tied and cranky after a long flight
Thats messed up they took that man 4000 and he traveling. I'm from the USA and don't know what 4000lbs is but i know its a number that anyone traveling might be spending. They act like he had 100,000
People need not complain and be thankful the baggage is searched. Thank you all for doing your difficult job with the ever ending complaining and rudeness from the public.
Every Luggage Swab Test Done In This CZcams Presentation Comes Up Positive!!!
All we see on these programs are the half a percent of customs encounters that seem at all interesting. Most of the day's work involves no drugs or other contraband at all and a few passengers who are puzzled but mellow about being detained. I flew in and out of Gatwick annually several times in the 1980s and underwent only one baggage check. Each year, I came from Dallas nonstop carrying little luggage. I had a return flight within two weeks, plus a West End London hotel reservation, several theater tickets, and a hundred pounds of currency. And I returned after replacing these with perhaps a couple of new books and some theater programs.
so many cigs .. would look like the gov. would find a way to tax and resale rather than destroy
Right! That would immediately raise accusations that the border officials were fraudulently seizing cigarettes for resale.
So why was the fisherman denied entry at the end?
I think they should offer a good will gift for people that had to go through so much checking and nothing found.
Baggage handler could leave the traces of drugs.
That's messed up they took all that dudes money. I would have been 😡
First officer was weird questioning the picture in his bag, why is that any of his business??
Exactly, If you swab the case which has been in the bottom of a plane with hundreds of others couldn't that be the reason?
Guilty until proven innocent.
I was told to follow an under cover Custom Officer upon my arrival at JFK Airport from Jamaica & searched thoroughly for drugs..When no drugs were found I was told that I can go..They were fishing for drug mules..They picked the wrong person to search for drugs when they chose me!
Incompetent Buffoons.
And then the reals ones are already in their Ubers 😂
I think they deliberately put on this power trip show whilst the real criminals get through, they're part of the prohibited items smuggling ring.
That swab machine is working great! (sarcasm)
I don’t think the blur is going to matter for our buddy there.
So, do they put someone under arrest every time they do an x-ray ?
Well, no, since they didn't arrest the fisherman. Just sent him back home. The woman in the #3 case was also not arrested and allowed through.
The error rate was near 100% Near nobody was found guilty of a crime. Bufoons.
@@MGower4465 But #1 was arrested before it... Haven't seen yet how it ended.
Why do you keep turning on closed captions after I turn it off???
