  • Doublelift has never had the most harmonious of relationships with the owner of one of his former teams: TSM’s Reginald.
For the past 6 years, these two have had a complicated relationship -- both personally and professionally but last week, things got nasty.
What started out as a few pointed exchanges has boiled over into accusations of emotional abuse, bullying and driving some of his players to tears…
    Here's the whole story.

We've known Reginald was a toxic, abusive bully for more than 8 years at this point. Ever since his complete rant against Dyrus who spoke out against him in frustration, and got straight up harassed in return for it, everyone have known exactly who Regi is. This is just confirmation at this point. Had Reginald been anything but the owner he would have been sacked YEARS ago. He's absolutely the core reason TSM is being held back, and any prior achievements has been despite of him, not because of him in any way. And I say this as an ex-TSM fan who left solely because of Reginald. Who can support a team who has that kind of ownership?
And I'm no doublelift fanboy either. I have and will always think of Doublelift as an arrogant player with a massive ego who will always want to be center of attention. But I believe him when it comes to Reginald's alleged abuse.

Been watching competitive league for a long time. I totally agree with Doublelift on this. Most people dislike Doublelift has a wrong impression of him. While he enjoy trash-talking, he respects the players. He does not trashtalk after the match is done. That's not who he is. He only does it before matches when the match is undecided because it hypes up the matches.
Regi on the other hand is a very competitive retired player, while he was good during his time playing, the standard of play has gone far beyond his reach but his huge ego still makes him believes that he would still be one of the best players if he was still playing. This is an important point because whenever his team lost/made a mistake, he firmly believes the team messed up and that HE would have done better. It's because of this, he comes down hard on the players because he had imagined that such a mistake wouldn't be made by him, this creates some sort of resentment towards the players. Like why am I paying you if I could have played this better than you? This makes him a very toxic backseat Andy.
This means that if you made a "mistake" and Regi comes to you and puts the blame on you, the best thing to do is do nothing and agree with him. Because he's going to tell you how he would have done better and that it was your fault. You will never win an argument with Regi, because of his ego and his belief that he would have played that better, also because he is your BOSS. Regi is a bully. Make no mistake about that. This is why Doublelift said that the best thing to do in TSM is not get involved with Andy. Nothing good ever comes out from trying to make a constructive criticism about the play with Regi because that's not what Regi wants. Regi wants you to admit that you were wrong and better yet, stroke his ego and tell him that he is right.

This actually clears so much up. I wasn't sure what to think after Doublelift just retired even though TSM signed Swordart, but this puts it all into perspective and I feel bad for both Swordart and Doublelift. There had been rumors that he retired because he only wanted to play with a top-tier Support, but him specifically saying he wanted an English-speaking support makes more sense. I was so confused why Doublelift went back to TSM when he had just been thrown out like trash before. My opinion of TSM probably will never go up till Regi retires from having any say in the LoL space.

This is an indicator of the future of esports. This will continue to be an issue until something changes, the reality is that the dynamic between players and ownership is just weird, you have players who can flame people publicly and hold all the PR power, then you have owners who can fire people at a moments notice. On top of that a lot of the people involved are introverted gamers who don't really do the social/business thing correctly either, and some where even handed enormous wealth and prestige while they were teenagers. It just kinda all leads to a pretty toxic place and is basically a ticking time bomb for stuff like this. That's why traditional sports like the NBA have rules and stuff, guaranteed contracts, player associations and stuff like that, to reduce the risk of things going wrong, so everyone knows what the rules are and to keep everyone happy, obviously thats significantly harder to do in Esports, but i don't see a world in which stuff like this doesn't happen without proper rules and regulations in place, likely a formal set of rules like a lot of the franchised teams have in like the CDL and stuff like that, but bigger.

I've played and watched League of Legends since Xin Zhao was a new character so I have a bit of a background. TSM has always been a favorite for NA. Hard to compare them to a sports team on how loved they are. When you watched TSM in LCS, that twitch chat was spamming TSM for sure.
They had world class players. Bjerg is literally one of the best players, just like doublelift said, a perfect player and a perfect person. And regi said, "we got out drafted..." to compare it, thats like having golden era Michael Jordan on your basketball team, and saying your team is bad.
Now, I dont know about you guys, but having the best player, still losing, and no one really batting an eye, there has to be something behind the scenes. Or in this case, someone. Only a coach with absolutely horrible coaching skills can not only make your team lose every year and depressed at the same time. You always heard regi was a person not very well liked but it took a very known person in the league community to bring light to the situation.

The thing is sometimes you just have people that don't get on. In the case of Peter & Andy, I think they both are "Alpha" in their own way and conflict always comes out of that. There is no rule to say that team mates have to be friends but it certainly helps, just like there isn't any rule to say owners, managers or whatever have to like their players. It's important though that the organisation recognize the players are the most important thing, not the staff or the owners - players win championships. Sounds like Andy can't get out of his own way and the fact he slammed Bjergsen during the season, during the finals speaks volumes on that point. The only person talking about the players should be the coach and the owner shouldn't be saying a fucking thing publicly during the middle of games or even at all during the regular season.

So what I'm gathering in my opinion, clearly hypothetical, Is during the phase where Leena and DL started talking was where everything was about to go downhill. DL wanted to be closer to leena so he came back to TSM, Regi probably had a little jealousy but tried to brush it off. DL finds out Bjergsen is going to retire and probably heard Leena will leave the company too so he decides if the swordart deal doesn't go through its not worth his time to play anymore(for the team at least). Regi's wording/saying of the deal not going through doesn't come out right(the way he speaks to you is very upfront and aggressive tone) and Doublelift just says fuck it imma run it down to the exit of tsm since Leena is also leaving and most of his best co-players/workers/friends also left. Mostly probably because he wants leena to cut ties from the organization. Regi probably also during all that time probably wanted to cut ties with DL too because of Leena. In the end theres no winners just bad looks all around.

Bjerg left. That says a lot. One of the best and most influential NA Players doesn't see potential in TSM getting to Worlds. GGz

Andy should just seat in a chair in front of a desk and watch his orgs team play, with him constantly being like a karen mother in law to players who lost a match wont make that player play well. He just lowers his teams moral and destroys any chance of winning.

When you think of it, it's actually funny and believable that Doublelift's girlfriend is the ex-gf to Reginald (Andy). Mah boy DL not only exposed his toxic ass, but stole his girl like Bully Maguire stealing Gwen from Eddie in Spider-man 3.

The people that got abused are probably still playing right now and can't come out because If they did they could risk their e-sport careers

Don't forget regi was never really a good player and in the end of his player career tried to force himself into his team's roster in multiple different positions and failing horribly before retiring from play.

Like everyone here I want to share my opinion, though I do notice Reginald it's a very bossy and harsh owner, DL it's know in the LoL scene as a trash talker and egocentristic player that it's known to give away games due to his massive "overconfidence" which at times seems like he is trolling by trying to 1vs1 an assassion or 1vs5 the enemy team. DL does have a couple points in his favor but still he did make a hard pass on staying in the team even if SwordArt was not inside the team.Just like a company, if you decide to abandon the company right before a big negotiation since you're not sure if it will succeed then the director or boss has the right to deny your entry back when everything about the negotiation goes right.

@@Ryuno_Ace Yup and even one of the exmanagers of the team did stated in Reddit that DL is lying about certain statements given about the deal so he has been exposed.
