The Toxic Prodigy Who Was Given 7 Second Chances

  • Despite being only 22, Dardoch has been on so many League of Legends rosters that it’s easier to remember which NA LCS teams he hasn’t been a part of.
    From Team Liquid to Immortals, to CLG, back to Liquid, to Echo Fox, to OpTic, to TSM, to Dignitas, he's managed to play for seven different teams in just four years of being in the LCS.
    And the reason why he’s jumped from team to team doesn’t have much to do with his skill as a player. Dardoch’s Achilles’ heel has always been his attitude. He's been accused of toxicity, badmouthing teammates and coaching staff, and even chewing people out mid-game.
    But somehow, Dardoch keeps getting signed. He really is just that good, and at any moment, could become NA's greatest jungler.
    But how many more second chances does NA's toxic prodigy really have left?

      @@BFHTTDude I'm sure the players he played with still wanted to win. I don't think they sandbagged games like "well I don't like my jg so I won't try to perform". It's just that league relies a lot on chemistry especially from the jungler who has to coordinate with all laners. So when that jg is toxic or brash or uncooperative when it comes to coaching and game plan or even teamfights then it all falls apart. I still have hope for dardoch though... he might fit in somewhere and really shine.

      @Baxi Tabaxi I disagree a bit. Sure there should be minimal professional conduct but let the player trashtalk, interact with each other in a gamer way a bit, it is what made E-sports entertaining to watch. As long as it is clear that is not personal, or being toxic to the point of harassment and bullying.
      Look at the Dota, the most recent 2 time TI winner is goofing off in the middle of the match, taunting other player in the middle of the tournament.
      Most other team do respect them but of course they mute them so they wont get effected by taunts but it is entertaining for the rest of the people who is watching. Popping off when winning or losing is entertaining to watch. You won't get that if everyone is supposed to be 100% professional.

    • @FrenchDinosaur
      @FrenchDinosaur Před 2 lety +62

      I mean, the dude was legit good at the game. I daresay he was one of the best (in NA) at his peak. Now if I learned anything about watching eSports, or just sports in general, it's that even if a player has the ego of the entire population of the world, as long as they can produce results, then the teams would completely accept it. Of course that doesn't rid them of accountability but it is what it is. What amuses me is that, he has proven time and again that he can't produce results, yet the teams still gambled that he could pull it off. It's like playing Russian roulette but instead of there being only one bullet, the gun is fully loaded and the only failsafe is to not pull the trigger.

    • @nuraby_9228
      @nuraby_9228 Před 2 lety +20

      He got so many "second" chances because he had the good fortune to be born in NA. NA as a region is so starved for native talent, teams were willing to roll the dice on him over and over. League of Legends NA teams are generally based around having a couple of good enough players that are either from North America or have a green card/got grandfathered in as a native, and then bringing in talented imports.
      If Dardoch was in regions like KR, CN, or even EU, he would have been finished after his first time acting like a dumbass because teams in those regions can easily find talented players that aren't a complete headache.

      This is a very naive take. In the real world, the assholes will often win because the society is immoral and degenerate. I’m not just talking about people with bad attitudes, but people who actually behave like criminals and hurt others. How long did Harvey Weinstein operate? How about Bobby Kotick? Vince McMahon? Nearly every major politician?
      The truth is that people will overlook a hell of a lot IF you’re producing money. Even criminal acts. They’ll tolerate it and bank it, and if and when the asshole stumbles, shows a moment of weakness, they’ll dump the banked up dirt and use it to remove them, usually because it profits them to do so. It is rare that you’ll see a person willing to take the hit by exposing assholes when they still have the benefit of production. That’s because they know people will do everything to keep the gravy train running, and you are now threatening it.
      Dardoch’s error was he was an asshole in the realm of teams, where an individual’s contribution is blunted. If he was in a solo competitive field, or in a position of authority, he might’ve gone a long way before he sunk himself.

    This is just my opinion in life, not just for gaming purposes.
    Although I don't believe in positive/negative energy, but how you react impacts others. I used to be bad-tempered guy, once goes wrong everything falls apart. Not just in short-term but also long term relationship. People don't like being around me for that. Now I'm try to be positive whenever I can even in difficult situations, the differences is massive.
    Sometimes shutting up is better rather than arguing fro something so simple and easy fix. When thing gets difficult, don't talk too much. Think before you speak, really helps a lot to avoid big unnecessary altercation. Altercation doesn't help anything except mess. You ended up regretting it later rather than feel good about it now.
    In conclusion, don't blame others, most of the time you are the problem. I know it's contradictory in some of my current cases, but I learn from it. I still have some ego especially when I think I'm in right, but most of the time the person just trying to light the gas(my ego). Which is pretty lame I guess.
