2019 Infiniti QX50 - Redline: First Look - 2017 LAAS

- After an incredibly long run and a name change, Infiniti finally gives the compact QX50 a full redesign. Riding on an all-new FWD platform, the interior has a lot more room for passengers and cargo, the engine is the world's first production variable compression engine, and fuel economy has improved by nearly 30% on some models. It should do very well for Infiniti and hopefully become the brand's best seller.

HEY REDLINE REVIEW..... THANKS FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO. HONESTLY I ENJOY EVERY REVIEW. THANK YOU. IT HELPS .
Uploaded just as I finished brushing my teeth. What a great way to end the night lol
I like this redesign for sure and considering the resale value of the current model, this will be a great deal in about 2 years.
Дааа,эта Infiniti получилась просто идеальной,а особенно ей шикарный-стильный-комфортный интерьер))
Great video! Looks like a smaller version of the QX60 for a cheaper price.
Nice car and nice review!
Great review
Infinity continues to wow us with their cost-cutting determination
0riginal _Panda_Child You dont like it buy something else like Ford
Nissan and Infiniti Supercharged and Turbocharged nice username
Don’t buy it lol
Infiniti feels cheap. I checked out the 17 Q50 and it felt like Nissan. Specially that central console needs to fully revamped.
0riginal _Panda_Child IKR. Especially, with the CVT which you could find in a cheap Versa, and isn't as refined.
I like that they didn’t try to force a third row in there like other small SUV’s.
I love CVT, smooth, efficient, and Nissan is the leader of CVT. There are reasons why Toyota and Honda also add CVT to some of their models. I have 2013 Nissan Altima almost 170k mile, still very smooth, no major problem yet, change oil transmission at 95k for $150. Even though Manual recommend to change at 60k. No doubt it can get up to 250k+ miles easily. For fun driving I have my Honda s2000. Can’t wait to buy this baby in 2020 when my Altima needs to retire
I️ really don’t understand why people hate on the dual screen on Acura’s and Infiniti’s. They’re pretty convenient imo, you can’t really take on it if you never been on a car with it. You can easily have your navigation on one, and your music controls (for example) on the other. I️ love it in my new TLX 18.
Wilson Hernandez It looks horrible, plus one is matte the other glossy. As if it was taken from two different cars. The previous mode was much more classy.
It's just the graphics for the map that needs to be updated. You can't say the whole infotainment sucks just because of map graphics. I love the dual screen but google maps would of been nice. Carplay and android auto interferes with privacy, right care much about it once I could sync my phone
Wilson Hernandez I have the Q60s and the dual screen is great. Everyone that hates on it are a bunch of idiots...I used to have a G37xS and the most annoying thing was toggling through music from your iPod and then switching to navigation. It was one or the other when you had both on at the same time... with the dual screen in my Q60s, you can toggle through both at the same time without switching anything.. one screen is navigation and the bottom screen for music. Perfect!
Nice looking car. I agree with you that the infotainment system is outdated. I think the engine is what REALLY makes the car stand out.
Interesting vehicle. Looks kinda like a Mazda CX5, with a CVT transmission.
gallyun1 seems like Mazda and Infiniti are started looking alike when the 6 came out back in 2010 or so.
I believe this platform will make it to the new Altima
What happened to the front mid shift platform?
like this car
The problem this car is going to have is not that it isnt good, because it is. The problem is the CRV, CX5 et al are sooo good that justifying the extra cost with the illusion of a luxury badge is more and more difficult. The Accord and Mazda 6 is doing the same thing to smaller "luxury" sedans too.
So Infiniti got rid of probably the only reason people bought the EX35/QX50 (RWD Handling, driving dynamics with V6) and replaced it with a FWD, turbo-4, CVT rebadged Nissan...great job...
dcharizard91 It's a rebadged Nissan Rogue
Just love the 2 screens! Why pay for one screen when you can have two.
I love it
QX50 should have kept the 325HP V6 is this new model. What do you think? I also despise CVT. Should have been a 8 speed automatic
I woulda like to see the 7sp in this thing. i'm not to keen on the CVT trans., auto-man. with paddle shifters only please.
could you please review a q70 sport!
Oh my love horses!!!
Indeed it really looks like a Mazda CX-5 infronto.
God Infiniti. I really want to like your products but you make it so difficult. I leased a Q50 back in 2015. At the time, I thought the two screen stack (navi and radio) was something really cool and innovative. After leasing my wife a 2017 Mercedes E class, and being blown away by their graphics on the navi and their stereo, I was really hoping for Infiniti to update their infotainment. Here they are 3 years later and they're still putting out the same thing. Guess I won't be leasing another Infiniti come next May. Thank you for your review. Great job as always.
daniel olivares you won't lease a car just Because it the screen graphics lol that so stupid but I respect that
Lol
Infiniti is boring now.
If you think this Navi/interface look bad clearly you haven't seen current Gen Acuras.
at least current gen acura has apple/android
Do they have awd or only fwd?
Nice car but interface needs a major upgrade.
I had a 2008 m35 with the same screen graphics. Infiniti needs to step it up
timothy lacy oh the M. Love it
It looks just like the Mazda CX-5
I guess it's decent given the power figures, but 27 MPG doesn't wow me like I thought the new variable compression would.
Tonezorz that’s pretty good for not being a sedan
27 in the city is pretty good , for it not being a Car
Although Infiniti is Nissan’s subdivision, you must keep in mind that Infiniti is still a separate company with its own headquarters. So they have their own finance, engineering sales and marketing teams. Just because Nissan was able to get android auto and apple car play doesn’t mean it carried over to the brand name Infiniti. Nissan doesn’t interfere with Infiniti’s day to day.
Additionally, Infiniti’s interface is plenty competent. I remember where Infiniti says it’s an adaptable interface. Meaning features can be added to it no problem. So it sounds like they are just having a tough time obtaining licenses for features such as apple car play or android auto.
What is soundtrack music name?
Still dated in the interior but it’s nice they just really need to update the ageing QX60 please Infinity
I really like the way this looks and the engine seems promising. But FWD and CVT? C'mon Infiniti.
TheVP Just like BMW
He just said it was for the better cargo capacity. It went from lowest in class to competitive thanks to FWD so you’d rather have smaller space just to handle better in an SUV?
Craig D The rear biased BMW X3 has 66 cubic feet of maximum cargo space with all seats folded.
It also offers AWD. And drives amazing.
Nice looking Nissan SUV ....
well Infiniti is part of Nissan lol. Same as a VW and Audi.
Thank goodness no Mercedes anything (like on the QX30).
I hope it does well but I love my 2017 QX50 based on the G platform.
Too bad it's not rear-wheel bias. I wonder what the F/R weight distribution is?
I really hope they perfected the CVT. I wish the front logo was three dimensional (I guess housing the radar sensors for the "pro-pilot assist" made it one dimensional).
Sofyan, I can't wait for you to test drive and review it.
I was given a QX30 as loaner I own a Q50 and I would never ever ever buy the QX30 that think was cramped on the inside the interior felt like it belonged in a Hyundai terrible car this is new QX50 is a step in the right direction
This new QX50 will do great I think.
CVT will eventually be standard on all new cars …..why ? Because of the new MPG standards from the DOT …..
Infiniti the best!!!
The upper screen looks like the Chrysler Pacifica.
I think the reason some Nissan products have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and none of the Infiniti models have it is because some Nissan vehicles are manufactured in America, while most Infiniti models are built in Japan. The Japanese just don't like car play and android auto.
I don't understand why most consumers now need it. I have an older car without it and see no use for it
Alexander Lao Well you’re entitled to feel that way about it. Android auto and CarPlay is a big deal to many people & you’ll probably never understand why.
TheA1God25 It’s because the world has to be connected to everything at every given moment. God forbid a text message goes by without being able to respond instantaneously.
Alexander Lao My message was for you but not the other dude
I have Apple CarPlay but honestly it’s very distracting when your messages are blowing up in your face. Is it cool? I guess so. But not needed.
Acura RDX is way to go
I hope Infiniti brings the FX back (or whatever it's called now).
LMAO thats the QX70
QX70 will be discontinued after the 2017 year
it's sad it seems like Acura & Infiniti ( the two brands I really like) have so much to work on, it seems like they have become comfortable and lazy with the lack of improving the technology in their vehicles. let the buyers see where their money is going by reinvesting some into more attractive interior offerings.
Looks good but CVT =(
A CVT in a luxury SUV? Seriously? No thanks...
Man shut up.
Why do car companies do the driver oriented dash board
Infiniti has lost it's value. They made sweet cars from 2003 to around 2010 but nowadays you get more out of a Nissan over the "luxury" segment.
MisterDopeTunes No they haven't lost their value, and INFINITI is mixing performance and luxury. And seriously, people prefer more techy stuff than performance?
Please keep your comments short and straight to the point so that we the Comments Readers Association World Wide (CRAWW) can read it quickly and jump to the next. Thank you for your cooperation.
Lost me when I heard cvt. I would never drive a cvt
Did you happen to ask them when the q50 will get a panoramic roof? What are they waiting on. And was that alcantara? Oh lord. I love Infiniti, i have a 2010 G37 sedan, i just wish they would be faster with the updates. Ive been waiting for a few years to buy a brand new Infiniti when they showed me a new model that told me "ok, this is gonna be up there for awhile". Nope. Still waiting....
STILL does not come with Apple CarPlay/Andrioid Auto?? Love the exterior design and engine tech, but I hate to say it a lack of carplay/AA is almost a deal breaker now days
Dan D why do you need that anyways
That's what people said when they first added bluetooth to cars as well
Dan D I’m asking about CarPlay not Bluetooth. I don’t get why you need to see your phone on your screen. People make it seem like it’s a huge deal breaker.
No AWD?
j ruffin there is awd
Well it looks good, but most vehicles lately are losing their driving personality by mostly becoming front wheel drive, it has very much become to the point where most vehicles feel the same when being driven.
I love it, but the engine killed it. I’d rather have the existing 2.0T or 3.0T engine.
I owned a 2014 Q50. Passed Q60 for the same shitty inTouch, now need to pass QX50 for the same reason...
omg cvt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ill rather pick the 2019 RDX
Ugh, the dual screens. I had a Q50 and it was terrible! Sold it partially because of this. 😢
Selling a car because of dual screens????
Front wheel drive on a luxury vehicle?
Okudzeto Ackah it’s not uncommon lol
It is uncommon...You are the biggest Infiniti apologist. LOL
Any car built after 2018 should have digital gauges standard
What the is up with these dual screen layouts? It's a car, not a fucking Nintendo DS.
ezekiel1hen 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
will there be new QX70?
Valeri Karastoyanov no it's has been discontinued aka they stop making it cause no one was buying it
Everyone bitching about the CVT and I'm over here like "Why da faq would you put a 4 cyl in a SUV?". That engine isn't going to last, your stretching it to it's limit just driving normally. It's gonna wear out real quick. Plus, imagine all the horrible noises between the CVT and the engine screaming just to get the car moving.
TheCobruhAlienat0r have you drive it yet cause you don't know if has drone
You are stupid, most luxury mid size suvs come with 4 pots
Doesn't make it right.
Hmmmm. I wonder if this interior will make its way to the Q70, because that car's interior is 10 years old too.
I really hope they try an all new interior formula for the Q70. That car really deserves better.
I was hoping to see something different this year with the Q70. It looks dated inside.
The Q70 deserves its own design for sure.
royalbengal101 absolutely.
This interior is old as hell too and looks like a maxima. Infiniti is introducing a flagship concept at Detroit show in January
Cvt? Not for me. This is the 1 main reason i would not consider a vehicle. New volvo xc60 seems much better choice
this in no way looks and feels like a luxury product. Infinti has fallen really far behind compared to lexus and the new acura's. In fact, the new Hyundai and genesis products seem to have more luxury than this.
Infiniti needs to step it up with their infotainment system. I love the brand and I own an Infiniti right now but I'm considering leaving the brand and going to Lexus. Infiniti needs to step it up.
Soyfan why are you touching the exterior if the vehicle? Fingerprints are left behind.
TheLifeOnHigh they clean the car after so I don't matter
A CVT in a luxury vehicle? ☹️
ihateshysters most people who will buy this will not care
A 4-cylinder in a luxury vehicle?
It actually makes more sense. Someone who wants luxury wants it quiet and smooth. Not zf fart shifts or a jerky turkey manual.
There are very few comparable luxury vehicles that don't offer 4 cylinders.
Nothing smooth and quiet about CVT. CVT droning doesn't make for a luxury vehicle. This is nothing more than a Nissan that is why it has a CVT
Looks like CX5
Louis Win no it doesnt
Yea these newer Infinitis look like Mazdas lol
Baasil F. No they dont lol dude come on now
Even the reviewer said it looks like a Mazda lol... Everyone sees it but you
Baasil F. Dude that interviewer he criticizes more the vehicles than praise them he even did it to the new accord you do realize that manufacturers in way copy from each other in a way
FWD, CVT, trash dual screen layout....
Why the hell would you even buy this?? LOL. Does it have that damn direct adaptive steering?? Only thing going for it is that it does look nice.
TheHvk yes I would why not is better than other luxury vehicles
TheHvk No direct adaptive steer is offered, thankfully.
I can't believe they gave it a CVT.... This vehicle becomes dead on arrival.
Small displacement turbo, FWD, CVT, no more Forge Aluminum Suspension, not made in Japan...
Lexus RX350 still reigns supreme!
No way in hell those rims are 20 inches....maybe 18 at most
Hmm a 2.0L turbo Nissan Rogue with an overcomplicated engine that manages barely 27mpg will become infiniti's best seller? Just close your doors now infiniti.
TheCarChannel rogue? Lol no
Infiniti should change the interior from the q50 and qx50 the q30 looks more expensive and better
The QX30 basically has a Mercedes Benz GLA interior (they share interiors), that's why lol
I like the exterior, but the interior is really disappointing. Boring looking gauges, fake Mercedes shifter, and that stupid 2 screen layout. It doesn’t look much different from the current version. Plus it comes with a CVT and no CarPlay/AA. Might as well get a CRV if you want a CVT. At least it comes with CarPlay/AA.
kermit1 another infinit troller and hater
Everyone begging for Carplay/AA and its a useless feature in a car in my honest opinion.
This is probably infiniti best design in and out
And where is the storage? Space looks very limited for the driver to put things... Hey Infiniti, this is supposed to be a practical car first, not a sports car first... Agree that CarPlay is overrated, but Infiniti should still have it for the future when Waze debuts. And Infiniti better have a superior system to CarPlay if it is not including it.
El Maleante germans cars have way too many sensors and they break down japanese vehicles are the best
No point bitching about CVT. People who buy these cars DON'T CARE.
4 cylinder, wtf?
Рыжий котик lol. It’s not a full size suv. Many luxury crossover offer 4 cyl
VQ3713 yes, more and more brands replace their naturally aspirated 6-cylinders with turbo "fours", and this makes me sad.
Рыжий котик agreed. It’s going to happen more and more with the regulations.
#THEGODDAMNDOOR
This guy has never given a positive review to anything made by Nissan or Infiniti.. so why does he keep going back ??
ThePabloG30 thry make shit car hes just honest
shit cars? lol bmw is cheap unreliable excuse of a car
Stefan Cupovic
Lmao shit car. Not necessarily
VQ3713 lol defending everything Infiniti does..cute...
slimcpa I wouldn’t really call it cute, It’s a consumer who defends a product that he or she owns and enjoys.
Why are they copying Mazda designs?
NC Styles they are not copying mazdas dude when you say that is no good
Finally no more ugly old dinosaur that needed to be discontinued. This new one is so beautiful and so nice.
It’s almost 2018 and they’re still using that same navigation system, I know “if ain’t broke don’t fix it” but come on there is nothing luxurious about an over 10 year old navigation system
As long as the Lexus RX350 and RX350L exist Acura and Infiniti will always be a last thought or not at all. Hell I would go for the Lincoln Nautilus over this.
I Finn that's the dumbest thing I heard today getting a POS unreliable American junk over a premium Japanese luxury cuv
romel 4life there's plenty time left in the day so you might get lucky. Also it's hard for me to take Infiniti seriously as a "premium luxury" brand. They're barely entry luxury.
I Finn I agree with you.
I disagree Lexus is usually more expensive especially when you start adding options I think this will sell better then you think
Brandon Thomas it's more expensive because quality, build, reliability and resale value is better.
Can you start putting INFINITI in all caps on your review titles. Haha Infiniti compliance flags your videos as an infraction
I don’t get why these Japanese makers are so stubborn with their MMI system. Android Auto and Apple Car are way better then their crappy infotainment system apps and should be standard on all cars.
As someone who used to work for an infiniti dealer, no one who looks the cars up on youtube and does research besides price ever walks in to the dealership to buy one. This car wasn't made with any of you in mind. no car company makes a car with internet savvy people in mind.
Like the look. HATE the engine. They should have kept the 3.7 liter V6. At least as an option. I will never own another 4 cyl again. Thus I will never own the 2019 QX50. From a previous FX35 and EX35 owner. And current FX50S owner.
Infiniti vehicles shouldn't be FWD, and or CVT.
2 screen layout design, looks a bit dated..
Not Mazda dum From benz !!
WHY DOES INFINITI STILL DO A 2 SCREEN LAYOUT? It looks so CHEAP
It doesnt it looks elegant
It looks Good unlike Acura theirs is useful. And slot of luxury cars are doing the 2 screens even range rovers
Maybe becuase they build cheap cars at premium car price lol the whole fucken thing looks cheap
A 2 screen layout is fine if done right like the new Audi a8
I own a Q50 and everyone who get in it thinks the car is way more Luxurious then it is the 2 screen layout actually helps I have had the QX60 SUV and Q70 as loaner cars and I feel they both could use the dual screen to enhance the interior look
FWD!!!!! WHY???? WHY???? WHY????
Things change over time.
Replacing QX70? Bad idea....
C B Taylor it a replacement for the qx50, the QX70 is being discontinued
Big mistake, I do not think 4 cylinder tubro wont be enough to please QX70 fans
C B Taylor well who cares it's a big step forward in technology and I'm pretty sure they'll understand Plus the QX70 wasn't selling very well so they had to kill it
they are gonna care if the QX70 crowd runs to BMW or Mercedes, it was time for an overhaul in technology and design, we shall see how the market responds.
Looks like a rebadged Nissan Rogue
Interior of BMW and Audi look like the same since 10 years. Audi is FWD also, nobody needs RWD in an SUV like the QX50.
But I hope the navigationscrren now is HD.
I really hate their infotainment system and navigation reminds me of the early 2000’s.
