    Gorgeous exterior and interior. I just got the majestic white 2020 QX50 Sensory FWD with Apple Car play and Android Auto and the interior finish is top notch. CVT will take some getting use to specially if you are coming from a sportier car which in my case my previous car was (2017 Q60 Red Sport). The QX50 acceleration 0-60 is slower but has a smooth and quiet ride compared to Q60 Red Sport stiffer ride due to the sport suspension. I can live with the slower acceleration since I'm not doing any spirited driving, racing or taking it to the track or bombing in the canyon road. The safety features of this car and for the price (huge dealer discount and incentives) helped my decision to go with QX50 a loaded family vehicle and utility.

    I have the 2016 QX50, 326 hp. Recently checked out the 2019 QX50, completely redesigned, body close to FX35 in size, new engine, features. Will I upgrade? Waiting for real customer reviews. Experience has often indicated wait for the 2nd year model to improve on any "bugs" of a newly redesigned vehicle.

    I really like this SUV, has good style, it’s a good size …. but as soon as I found out that it has a CVT transmission, I said “I’m out”. They decided not to use the CVT transmission in the 2022 QX 60, but have left the CVT in the QX 50’s. I will be moving onto QX 50’s competitors without CVT’s.

    Had my EX35 in the shop and drove the new QX50 for the weekend. It's very nice on the highway - but I found the CVT robs the fun-to-drive factor and was anxious to get my EX back. I really think Infiniti should have kept the unique EX/QX sporting personality and gone with an 8-speed transmission.

    Hi Brian. I always enjoy your videos and I want to let you know that you may need to consider to change the thumbnail of this review. First I looked at it on my phone and it looked chaotic, I didn't know what it was until I saw in on the screen of my desktop after I got home. The thumbnail may not be able to attract the non subbed viewers like if it was clearly to show the car like the previous First Look video. Anyway, I am in marketing business and this is my opinion. As is the case with most of these reviews no mention made about the type of fuel required. I assume premium gas is required as is the case with all the competitors in this class with the turbo 4's. That adds another 15% to the fuel costs somewhat negating the improved fuel efficiency of this technology.

    I'm just going to say this. I'm not very knowledgeable about cars per say but I have been looking at a handful of them. I'm 6'2" and that means I cannot just go buy an SUV of any kind. Most of the times there is not enough leg room. We won't even talk about the backseat issues. I have found after looking at the Mercedes Coupe SUV, the BMW X6, The Jaguar F-pace and the Cadillac XT5 that the XT5 has the room and just enough Luxury that "I" need at an affordable price. I don't need 400 HP so that cuts out the first two cars. 310 HP is more than enough for city driving. This Infiniti I can see at a glance is not big enough for me. It looks nice and may have better technology than the Cad but I cannot fit one fot in and one foot outside the car and drive that way. I get claustophobic real quick on long drives. But the car looks nice.

      Everyday Reviews... Thanks, we would appreciate it. I understand that most, if not all reviewers, are sport oriented, hence you guys focus more on sportiness regardless of what car you’re reviewing. But to average daily drivers like myself, sportiness may not necessarily be the most important factor.

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 Před 6 lety

      C'mon, 5 minutes is enough to know if a car is quiet, rides harsh or smoothly, and can handle some twists.

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 Před 6 lety

      It's not always sportiness. It's the ability to handle emergency maneuvers w/o going haywire at high speeds. I drive a lot on expressways and see a lot of cars lose it just trying to make a quick lane change to avoid a piece of rubber in the road or avoid a rear end collision. Taut handling is a must for this, and some brands can give you that AND a smooth ride.

      CVTs aren't bad, when you have some power behind it. Most 4 cup CVTs drivetrains are not powerful enough to feel capable. However, my QX60 with the newer V6 feels just fine.
      In a car that heavy, I think a CVT is actually the better choice.

  • @your_royal_highness
    @your_royal_highness Před 5 lety +2

    I am torn as all of the criticisms of the QX50 I share. I much prefer the 2018 Q5 and really fell for the new RDX (despite its quirks). RDX is a great car. I hate the CVT and the standard steering on the QX50 is terrible; lots of torque steer. The drive by wire option mitigates that a lot. So here's the thing: I can get a lease on the Infiniti, with options taking the MSRP to $51k+, 15k miles, 39 months, nothing down except first payment and doc fees for $500 month!!! The Q5 and new RDX push $700 mo. If all were even relatively equal, no question I would go with one of the other two. Are the substantial compromises with the QX 50 offset enough? Unfortunately, I am thinking yes...

    • @benlisi2540
      @benlisi2540 Před 5 lety +1

      Not true I can get an RDX far cheaper in Canada but I would rather have a CRV the QX 50 is a gorgeous automobile inside and out infinity is a luxury brand Acura is a Honda it’s near luxury and look inside and you will see all that shiny plastic inside which they call piano and the CVT is more responsive than the 10 speed automatic smoother and quicker shifting and it’s faster which I don’t care I bought the SUV for luxury and comfort not speed

      @888TopGear888 Před 6 lety +4

      Ronn Lowe Sounds like someone drives an Acura.
      First of all, you say an Acura is more reliable than a Nissan product. Why not say a Honda is more reliable than Nissan? Because thats what your beloved RDX is.
      Second of all, looks are subjective. I like the interior of the Acura and the Infotainment is definitely better than that of Infinitis but the exterior is better looking on the infiniti in my opinion. You’re right about the CVT but its not something you’d notice unless you were playing sports car with these cars and neither the Acura nor the Infiniti are sporty cars. So it becomes irrelevant for most buyers.

      Ray Braud the VR30DDTT in the Q50 is also a very good engine. If I were the head powertrain engineer for the Qx50 I would spring towards an 8 speed automatic transmission derived from the tried and true 7 speed with the only difference being a second stage overdrive on top of all the existing gears and use the same VC turbo as the base engine and 2 engine options being a 335 hp VQ37VHR and 400 hp VR30ddtt. The VQ37VHR would be only a 500-700 dollar option and the VR30ddtt would be a 2500 dollar option. Also keep the headlight dimmer switch on the turn signal lever and make it light up at night instead of moving it to the dash.

Plus, I felt that the best value for the best price that Infiniti used to be known for had changed tremendously. Cheapened interior, option packages that were too pricey, and getting less value for your money. So, I opted not to go for Infinti #6.

      TruAgape1234 That's kind of a ridiculous conclusion to come to when you haven't owned or driven the vehicle yet. And if the reliability is so bad as you claim, how is Renault- Nissan currently the highest selling car manufacturer in the world? Quit being a hater.
