- Fasting - a practice as old as humanity; but today it’s a scary word equated with “starving”. Dada explains the different kinds of fasts and the extreme value of fasting for holistic health. He finally offers a simple but very effective fasting technique which you can do at home and stay on the road to perfect health for your entire life.

The mantra at the end of the video is " Baba Nam Kevalam". Baba means "my most beloved One," Nam means "name of" or "to identify with," and Kevalam means "only." So the meaning of the mantra is "My most Beloved is the only One." You can find the full version of the recording here: • Video

Meditation and fasting go hand and hand 🙏🏻, lovely video my friend .
With meta Ben .
Wrong approach .....fasting and meditation at the same time is not recommendable.
@@antoniodomene why? If I may ask
@@pridesibeko1906 Well, my own experience while fasting and intense meditation 5 to 6 hours daily I had several states of hallucinations, seeing many distorted human faces with open eyes. Also experts meditators will never recommend to meditate ( sitting meditation ) and fasting.
@@antoniodomene strange because I actually manifesting while meditating and fasting. It's actually amazing I don't go wrong with it
@@pridesibeko1906 nothing strange under the sun :-))
I'm about to start a 5 day water fast. Be with me in Spirit! Namaskar.
Grace Aquila thanks very good - I went really quite deep. envisioning 9 days next in the near future. God speed
Grace Aquila б dimensions of conscientious alignment. I had some food grade Diatomaceous Earth. meditated. read. did a bit of hitchhiking and plenty of rest. gentle exercises. some vocal toning and self Massage.
That's cool I did a three day fast. Only had water and d.earth went well. I was trying to flush out parasites.
How did it go ?
I am more than I appear to be , the power of the universe rest inside of me
lol
Fasting is my absolute strength and healing choice. I do all types of fasting, depending on my current needs and situation.
Brilliant. Fasting brings genuine holistic miracles.
Blair Mc Fasting brings the best out of us?
I practice 24 hour fasts every other day except weekends I do intermittent fasting and I feel so much better the days I fast, of course after 3 months of doing it. In the beginning the problems were only food cravings and some headaches but that’s it. Fasting is miraculous 💕
i fasted 8 day.My eyesight improved from -1.25to -0.75. I will fast again.Hope i can get 20/20 vision. sorry my english
Amazing!
Never apologize for your English. You are obviously learning. That’s beautiful. I’m so happy for your sight. Blessings 💜🙏💜
Hey that's awesome. I'm going to arrange a group meditation series to improve my eye sight. What else did you do during the 8 days?
@janous kimerin hahaha.
How admirable you know more than one language...beautiful
Congratulations Grue. You are right. It’s actually longer than a 24 hour fast as we don’t eat anything immediately upon waking on the fasting day. Every fasting day brings a different experience. But if you can make it a regular life habit you will have found the touchstone of permanent, all round health.
I have found fasting lighten's my body but up vibes my mind with gratitude.
I'm so full of energy whenever I fast
Thank you for video.
On my third day of dry fasting, my eyes sight was crystal clear, my fears and depression was gone.
The best medicine there is. Peace utubers...
Am so thankful i came across this channel. Internet and youtube is such a blessing. If well used..
Namaste, thank you.I have been fasting for over a year on a regular basis, then stopped and this has motivated me to pick it up again.
Recent research shows that fasting slows down the growth of cancer cells and inflammation.
True bro...when you fast for long your body starts eating cancerous cell.
Fasting on and off and eating only alkaline foods no acid seems to be the key along with pure highly concentrated cannabis oil .
Dry fast and you heal Cancer completely
@@monsimix6839 how did cancer come into existence in the first place? How was cancer born?
Michael Motorcycle ...Cancer has always existed. It is caused by mutations that can occur when our cells divide. Most DNA "copying errors" are corrected by certain cell-mechanisms. Although these mechanisms are highly effective, sometimes an error goes unchanged. This leads to a mutation on the affected gene in the DNA of the new cells. Either the mutation is of no concern and has no effect on the cell, or it will kill the cell. These are the most likely scenarios. If one is unlucky, a bad mutation occurs that does not kill the new cells, but cause them to grow cancerous.
This can always happen, but of course, chances are increased if one are exposed to things that will cause mutations more so than normal or interfere with the error correcting process. These are carcinogens (uv-light, tobacco smoke) or just from an unhealthy diet/lifestyle which causes your body (all the way down to cellular level) to not functioning properly.
Scientist have estimated that only around 50% of all mutations leading to cancer are in fact caused by external carcinogenics.
On a side note - occasionally, a mutation which do change the function of the affected gene will cause a positive change in the new cells. This is called evolution.
Your video is very inspiring and helpful. I do dry fasts now after starting with intermittent and then water fasting to fasting.
The clarity of my mind is priceless. I hope more people welcome your video. Fasting should be mandated in everyone’s lifestyle.
Your speech is excellent. I’ve fasted for many years. It’s an amazing practice. I love it and recommend it greatly.
Thank you 🙏. Fully agree with you! The days l’m fasting are the best days of my life now . But it comes with practice. I also remember that time when it was very hard to fast.
I'd also like to say that the effects of fasting are cumulative. I make my own electrolyte water with magnesium, Redmond's sea salt and potasium chloride. Even on days when I dry fast I have no problems training. Also I eat Keto/Carnivore and have 1 meal a day. It's an excellent lifestyle! I'm 62 and I've beaten Rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure, heart failure and diabetes. I've lost 50 pounds. Not bad for an old bald guy.
Gary Bryant , 62 is not old. I would call it the best age.
Well done , inspiring ,impressive.
Age or young is how you perceive it. Im 37 feel old near 40 and 19 is young to me. My parents early 60s say im young . But an 80 year old might say you're young at 62. Ur only as old as u feel and ur health sounds great and will get better with fasting . I do 16 8 IF ,ive lost 34lbs, about 20 lbs of which thru intermittent fast, good diet ,daily walks plus playing football. Take care ,enjoy lives journey ,wishing you a long healthy life . Lets keep learning and bettering ourselves . Mindfulness and meditation and learning to live in the now, in the present moment is great for mental and physical health .
Check out Eckhart tolle on CZcams ,hes a saint.
Good start ,check out, how to deal with excessive thinking . Take care, have a great life my friend .warm greetings from Scotland
@@Heal_the_World81 thank you for your kind reply! I'm fairly new to meditation and mindfulness so my journey is just starting for the most part. I'm looking forward to going further. Oddly my Dr. Suggested that I add meditation to my daily routine. That doesn't happen much here in the US. So I tried it and now I'm sold on meditation. Keep safe and I wish you happiness and good heath as Well!
@Jaromir Dub my story is straight.
Congrats! Really inspiring. I just turned 50 and I am in relatively good shape for my age. However, I am starting to feel aches and pains in my joints that I fear are the first signs of Rheumatoid arthritis. Do you think fasting can have an effect on that like it did with you? And if so, what type of fasting cycle would you recommend? Thanks!!
Yes. Going lighter with food intake is most certainly a key part on the path to become the best version of oneself. Thank you for sharing.
Great and inspiring talk Dada... thanks
I had practiced dray fast for years, and I have experienced wonderful results out of it.. I really advice all to adopt such healthy habit

Brilliant, thanks. Your channel is helping the world because it is integrated with a supportive lifestyle.
Thank you so much for this post. Gandhi wrote about the importance of fasting in his life and was a believer in what you talk about here. But you talk about this in much detail which i felt was very useful.
Thank you! Brilliant video! Visually is wonderful as the content 🙌🏻💜

So much useful information and wisdom in every word! THANK YOU!
Love it!!! Today I started my first fasting, having only fruits 😍. Thanks for sharing this info
This is very true, fasting frees energies involved in bodily functions, processing food etc and opens up clarity to the deeper layers mind, emotions, soul.
Intermittent fasting is essential for a meditator
I do a 24 hour dry fast 2 days a week. Tuesdays and Thursdays. it's an excellent practice.
@UCifRpNWcik4M4NSQAJ1XXUw there are 2 types of dry fasting, soft and hard. In a soft dry fast you still take medications, brush your teeth, take showers and wash your hands. In a hard dry fast you have no contact with water at all. I tend to soft dry fast since I'm not all the way off of my blood pressure meds yet. I'm close but not all the way off. The Russians have done an incredible amount of studies on fasting. Unfortunately most of their findings have only been published in Cyrillic. There is a good amount in English, however. For instance, when a patient is water fasting they are pushed to VIGOROUSLY exercise for 3 hours per day. When a Russian says vigorous they mean just that. This is different from the way American Doctors ( very few, by the way ) who propose total bed rest. Which I considerv a huge mistake. The Russians do propose rest but not bedrest for dry fasting. I, on the other hand, when I do a 3 day dry fast, training normally on the first day, I cut my training by half the Second day and I rest on the 3rd day. This seems to work well for me so I'm recommending you find your own way. There's nothing wrong with resting. I've done 2, 3 day dry fasts and numerous single day dry fasts. Water fasting is better for longer term fasting. The most obvious benefit to dry fast is a more permanent weight loss. The body will take two hydrogen molecules from your fat stores and combine it with oxygen from breathing and make its own water. This effectively destroys the fat cell. In most weight loss programs the fat cells only shrink. That's why after the dieting most people gain all the weight back plus some more. You will still urinate when you dry fast. However, if you go 3 days your urine will get much darker. If you have kidney problems, and I do, you may want to do 1 day first, 2 days next and then 3 days. I make my own electrolyte water. I use magnesium, potassium chloride, redmond's real sat and after a dry fast, I add a little sodium bicarbonate. I use this water before and after dry fasting. I also use it coniniously during water fasting minus the sodium bicarbinate. This really helps the kidneys recover. Check out the snake diet channel here on CZcams. One last note, dry fasting for 3 days isn't for the faint of heart. You must exorcise extreme will power especially on the 3rd day. It's very tough. One day dry fasts are much easier and, as a bonus, the effects of any type of fasting are cummulative. In other words the body takes up where it left off depending on your diet. Some vegetarians do quite well and others like myself ( keto/carnivore ) have had excellent results. Good luck if you try it! Thanks for the question, Nasir! 👍
@Grace Aquila I'm on the second day of a water fast. On Sunday I plan on moving into a 3 day dry fast and then continuing the water fast. I'm thinking of switching back and forth, one week of water fasting followed by 3 days of dry fasting. I'm not sure how long I'm going to go but I need to make some bone broth when I get within a few days of breaking the fast. How you break an extended fast is as important as the fast itself. Since I only eat fat and meat I use bone broth. Good stuff! Good luck on your fast! You'll find meditation is a great addition to a fast. I think it's more profound in It's effects.
@Grace Aquila I eat 1 meal a day. Normally I fast 2 days a week, Tuesday's and Thursday's. Extended fasting is much more beneficial. I suggest you watch Dr Alan Goldhammer talks on you tube. He may be a vegan, poor soul, but he's solid on fasting. My suggestion is to be in ketosis before you start an extended fast. It's much easier. Also sneak up on it the first time with a 1 day fast. Then 2 days then 3 and once you get to day 4 you'll find you're not hungry. Also I would water fast the first time I did an extended fast. Dry fasts like a 3 day ( the record is 9 days I believe ) are not for the week of heart. All fasting takes discipline but dry fasting more so. When you have gone on a long fast for some time and you get hungry again, It's time to break the fast. I use increasing amounts of bone broth but you can use v8, juices and such. Just DON'T reintroduce solid food right of the bat. After about 3 days on the broth or whatever you're using you can stay on your drink and eat cottage cheese or any kind of soft food. It should take about a week to breal the fast and return to solid food. Good luck! Oh, the record for an extended water fast is 384 days.
Gary Bryant Actually the record for a soft dry fast is like 70 years... but maybe Babaji doesn’t eat or drink much in which case maybe he would have the record. 😊❤️🙏
Thank you for this awesome teaching 😊

Nice explaination sir..
Namaskar Dada! Thank you for the video.
I practice dry fasting twice a month, according to the lunar calendar, but I wake up because of this very early on these days (4-5 in the morning).
My problem is not to refuse food, but to wake up very early.
And two more times a month I starve from evening to evening)
When I eat at night after meditation, sleep is much better)
Thanks for sharing...
Wonderful. Great information ℹ️!

So sunrise to sunrise to build willpower i find after now intermittant fasting 16 /8 for 7 weeks now lost about 10 lbs in weight and it continues glad i started it feel good and now its easy to fast for 24 to 30 hrs , so far ive hit the 67 hr mark on the fasting . ☺
Currently preparing for a fast for mahashivrati. I began doing it a while ago and the benefits are amazing. So terrible we are lied and told we need food constantly to be ok.
Thank you awesome healthy tips .
Nice Swami ji, two meals a day for a family man and one meal a day for the other verna ashrama is also good .
Aww god bless you honey!! Great video!! Thank you
Thankyou
I'm on OMAD... one meal a day...
Amazing that I found this video just a few days after I started eating one meal a day at 4:30pm. This is somewhat less than a 24hr fast.
I find no issue doing this, the hunger is actually sort of pleasant, because of the control I feel over the compulsion.
I eat what I would have usually eaten for dinner and breakfast in succession, aiming for the same number of calories. I need to get a scale to track my weight so I don’t lose any.
I noticed that other compulsive behaviours are *becoming* less.
I noticed also that artificially sweet, salty, or greasy food is actually unpleasant to break the fast with.
And I feel a stronger drive to become present and live life.
Also I’m not tired after lunch, as I would usually be. My sleep has somewhat improved too, but that is poor for me due to the necessity in my life situation to wake up at intervals in the night.
I’m actually quite amazed at what simply having an empty stomach does.
I’m curious to try a 2 day water fast now.
I eat night, nothing next day. Then day after eat whenever i want usually sometime in the afternoon or evening! So usually like 36+ hours for me.
brilliant
Amazing
Same! Although, I do 20:4 most days and do what you’re describing once a week. I’m more of a night owl :)
we need a fast of thought, which is delivered by meditation practice. Physical fasting is also a miracle,so se need It too...
For fasting, watch Loren Lockman. For juice feasting, watch John Rose.
Thank you for this informative, gently presented video. Would love to know about this teacher. I subscribed. Namaste
Wow. Very inspiring. I'll start fasting from now.
Best of luck!
I feel I am fairly healthy... I can say yes to four of the six ... but don't have good sleep and don't have good energy... I have done dry fasts a few times but no more than 36 hours at a time ... water fasting I have done up to 30 days... best experiences of my life! In my experience the best benefit comes after 21 days on water only.

Vazhga Valamudan awesome Sir
Did a dry fast for the first time at one of anada margas retreats and I love it so much :) namaskar!
Wonderful!
I have found eating one meal a day for me works best for my weight and overall health. I’m trying to get back on that routine again (society and having a family makes it difficult to fast or limit meals). I have never tried a dry fast so once I am back in my routine I will try that.
Namaskaram great video thank you....!!
I took once a 24 hour dry fast. Actually it's around 32 hours because let's say i eat this evening after sunset, then i go to sleep and tomorrow i won't drink and eat anything, go again to sleep and drink and eat in the next morning, the day after tomorrow. I had absolutely no difficulty ... this clip made me wonder if i should try it again.
The main problem of today is we eat too much and too often. We have to reduce that obviously. But i have to say that a good dinner with fine wine, with someone you love, or among your best friends, is a real pleasure that's almost like God's gift. Well, guess God doesn't intend for us to have too much pleasure : - )
namaskaram 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you for the reminder 😀
amazing
