  • The Carburetor was the #1 way engines mixed air and gas before the advent of fuel injection. With so many components working in unison, the carburetor can seem pretty intimidating, but fear not! Bart is here to explain the mysterious workings of the CARBURETOR.
    Bart teaches us how cars work by blowing stuff up and cutting things in half. It’s a science show for the car lover who’s easily bored. Join Bart as he explains the science behind everything automotive. This is cars down to the atom. This is Science Garage.
    Some of our best videos ever are coming out soon, stay tuned so you won't miss a thing!

    • @underscore8085
      @underscore8085 Před 5 lety +22

      a centrifugal charger is a turbo thats not driven by exhaust gasses, but connected to the crank shaft. Its a mix between turbo and super charger

      Because carbs are a lot more user friendly, especially on small, simple engines for lawn work. Imagine having to deal with injectors and worrying about electrical components beyond an ignition coil, spark plug, and kill switch on something like a mower or weed whacker. Not to mention the slightly less efficiency of a carb would be very negligible or not worth caring much for considering how much less we use the engines compared to our cars.

      Yeah they are.
      The first two will be all-electric inside of a decade. Especially the chain saw because two stroke engines pollute a lot.
      The last one will likely be replaced with a battery itself for RV or general use and with fuel injection for the few industrial units that aren’t already (most of them are diesel).

    I hate that I have, until now, always thought the air to fuel ratio was measured in volume. That would never work since moles per volume of gasses changes with temperature and pressure..
