Car with carburetors stopped being manufactured in the US about 30 years ago due more emissions regulations. If your car is less than 30 years old and you want to understand how it gets it fuel then this video is a great place to start. I know you asked this 6 months ago, and probably don’t care anymore, but closing the throttle slows the air-fuel mixture from escaping to the engine, and does not move out of the way for new air to come in. It’s like a traffic, imagine 6 lane highway went down to one lane, incoming traffic would come in slowly
