- Welcome back to another Trials bike review here at the channel!
We have been looking forward to getting out hands on the 2022 Beta Evo after the 2021 bike was the reason why we started this channel.
As you can imagine with the launch of the new Beta it was always going to be difficult for us to resit to make a review especially when our next Dream Build episode is just around the corner.
We also look at what you are going to need if you are thinking about creating a bag to take with you to the trial competitions. (Or even just to get you through the day when out practicing) With another of our top tips!
Once again we would like to thank all of those that support the channel and a huge thank you to the guys at www.camiomoto.co.uk for the loan of this Beta Evo 2022 machine.
THIS IS TRIAL TUBE!
Love the videos man 👍👍 always great reviews.
Love your videos Danny. I’m new to trial riding. After riding a good friend’s Rev3 (also a follower of your content), I just had to get a trial bike! So much fun to be had anywhere! It’s tough to get a trial bike where we live though, so it was going to be a GasGas or Beta, whichever I could get my hands on. I am now a happy owner of the 2022 Evo 300 2T. Whilst I have no trials experience to give any qualified comments on riding, I am absolutely loving the bike. Everything you say in your review(s) I can relate to. Such a plush and rider friendly bike. I love the clutch! (Ok, trying to learn trial/enduro maneuvers on my YZ250X, with cable clutch, there’s a huge difference moving to this). Regarding the motor (and other aspects of the bike) being the same “old” trusty for a long time, it immediately made me think of my YZ. That is essentially the same bike since 2016, or thereabouts, yet the MX mags still review it against new model bikes. That is testimony to how good the bike is, and has been for a long time. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. This Beta seems to have a similar legacy.
It is a great bike and an amazing place to start! Thank you so much for the kind words and I really appreciate the support for he channel 👍
love your channel thanks!
DANNY BOY...ordered my 23' BETA EVO 200 "Clubman Edition" as listed by TrialTube cant wait 🇺🇸
Amazing news! Enjoy!
Good work mate. Great review. Cheers 🍻
Cheers fella!
Great review as always, but on one point we must agree to disagree. While some other brands change their bikes every year or even every month, it gets hared to keep track of the flavor of the month. The last version, in a very short time, becomes...obsolete as the newest version kills off last years or last months version. Before you know it, replacement parts for a two or three year old bike get hard to come by. Beta on the other hand, just keeps refining a great looking, proven platform and engine and in doing so, almost every part from that 2022 standard model will fit my 2015 standard model, meaning that replacement parts will be available for years to come. That's a real important consideration for many of us club riders who keep a bike, for say two, five or even ten years simply because not all of us can afford new bikes every year, so we appreciate one that can go the distance. I do agree with the rear fender (mud guard) bit as they are (still) too brittle. You seem to like the pointing up in the air thing, but can you give me one good reason why that thing should stick up into the stratosphere like it does? Like many of the makes do? There is no reason for it. Doesn't keep the mud off you, actually sort of looks dumb, like it's had too much viagra, plus the thing gets all scraped up from trying to hoist the boot over the stinking thing fifty or sixty time in a day, like I did today at our Trials event. Gets to be even more of a concern...after you get a few decades of riding under your belt. Give it another forty years or so and you'll know what I mean. Thanks for the reviews you do. I really enjoy them.
Now that’s a comment! A fair well thought through point that I agree with. I would love Beta to move from an 11year update cycle to maybe a five year one?
I guess I just like the look of the pointy mudguards and so understand what you mean when it comes to getting on the bike though.
Thank you so much for this comment and I hope Beta start to take note of the passion their audience have!
Great point. I have a 2021 Yamaha YZ250X. That’s also a bike which has barely changed in years. Major benefit of that, an abundance of parts and accessories. I’ve just paid a deposit on a new Beta 300 Evo. Can’t wait for it to arrive :)
I’m looking at a Beta, the rear fender will be changed out in about 10 minutes for sure lol.
Great video thanks for the upload 👍 😀
Appreciated and sorry for the delay!
Danny, ref 5:30 in the video, I think my throttle cable got caught today. I have a standard 2022 300 2T with the standard bar pads. I gave her a wash after a ride this morning, then started her up to help dry her off and to lube the chain. She went straight to full rpm and stayed there. Strangely my kill switch wouldn’t kill it, or I wasn’t patient enough but it felt like I pressed it for long enough but nothing was happening, so I ended up yanking the spark plug lead off. Gave me a nice zzzz ⚡️ in the process!
I couldn’t find anything wrong visually. The throttle returned normally throughout the steering range. At first I thought there was an electrical problem, from water, however I do not use high pressure. Maximum is finger on the hosepipe and I’m careful not to aim it at the electrics. I did wash, with a cloth, around the bars and kill switch, but wouldn’t a short inside that cause it to die? Anyway, I gingerly tried it again and it started and stopped normally. I took it for a short test ride and all seems ok. Weird! I recalled your mention of this and found it again here. What to do? Maybe I should remove that little bar pad altogether because if that mental rev up happens while I’m on the bike… 🤕
Safe! Just picked up mine and lovin' it (thanks John @ Off Road Moto Blyth). I've come from a Monty after 5 years out due to injury. Compared to the Monty, way more precise steering and much smoother. Super refined feel, balanced geometry and suspension and so much grip. A bike that gives you time to think. A bike that's on your side. Love the looks, main negative for me is the cable/hose routing - bit fussy (and LH kicker!). I like that Beta just refine incrementally - if it ain't broke...
Great purchase buddy and the Montesa isn’t known for its rider friendly feel. Enjoy the new steed bud and watch out for that throttle cable!
@@TrialTube Cheers bud and great work with the channel. Thanks for the advice re the throttle cable!
Great review. Is the 250 softer still for a clubman. Thanks Danny. Keep up the good work. Your approach to reviews is a breath of fresh air
Cheers dude! And it is indeed!
The engine is still mainly the Beta Techno from 1994. I have had a few Beta trials bikes but GasGas 300 Racing was on another level for me. The Beta flooding issues with the early 2000`s models that ruined many a ride like Jackwood drove me away from them as i could never get them to run well.
I like the 1987 TR34 scheme.
I rode my beta evo 2015 250 every Sunday for 3 and a half years before requiring a carby clean, just regular oil and filters changes. Super reliable. In the meantime I’ve seen gasgas being rebuilt, shercos bottom ends come out, scorpas clapped out, but the beta kept on chugging along..
All this to say that I bought a vertigo as next bike
3 years with no carb clean is very lucky indeed. The Beta has a solid engine in comparison to many. But it all depends on the locations and terrain! Thanks for the awesome comment btw 👍
Thanks for the review. What would you suggest to choose: Beta Evo 300 SS 2022 or TRRS One (not R, not RR, just pure One)? And briefly why? Thank you.
great informative video makes me want to buy one but sadly broke my knee in 2014 and that was the end of trials bike riding for me witch started in 1984 with Fantic, had a few Beta's, Zero 1990 and Synt 1993 before switching to Gas Gas.
Just to say the Beta Techno came out in 1994 although Marc Colomer was using the Techno prototype during the 1993 World Championship, again great video and would love to see you make a video whilst trying some of the late 80's early 90's bikes like the Aprilia Climber and Fantic Kroo.
Sad to hear about the injury and will keep them bikes in mind and really appreciate the support!!!
Bagging vid and honest too
Beta is a great bike in my opinion as you says the best club riders bike. I have ridden them since the Rev3 and totally agree with your review I think the only thing I would ad as an extranto your review is the Dunlop tyres are not great but a minor detail and maybe depends on where you ride.
I agree although here in the UK mud really feel that the Dunlop is good in the mud!!
Trs for the next review, better still Trs One R Vs the RR. Keep the great reviews coming. 👍👍
Thanks buddy trying my best!
Hi Danny love this channel! Just after a honest opinion, do a lot of moors and forest riding and going to get a new bike this week! Just sold my TRS280, would you go vertigo r3 or a beta? Thanks mate
R3! What a beast!
brill vid! Can we have some extra videos of you riding on the channel?
Will try and get a few up…
Beta top!
So I'm looking at a new trials bike and have narrowed it down to either a Beta or GasGas 300(I would love a vertigo but the cost is too much to import). Which would you recommend for dry dusty riding?
To be honest in the dry they are both great options!!
Did you get one yet? 😉
What displacement would you recommend for a trials beginner? I come from an enduro background and enjoy the technical side of riding. Currently ride a Beta RR300 2-stroke. I'm around 88kg.
The purpose of getting a trials bike is purely to improve my technical skills for enduro and over time also take part in some trials competitions. Is 125 a good idea or should I better go up to 250? Unfortunately, a Beta Evo 200 isn't available where I live.
200 beta
i was told that 125 is for teenagers..
we sound similar... 50 years of dirt bikes... I love the 05 Beta rev3 in 270 i found
What did you buy?
@@OKFrax-ys2op Got a good deal on Vertigo R3 300. The power is fine. There have been just a few times where I wished it would be less powerful.
Must be hard to get given a new release bike that's exactly the same as the previous years to review.
Surely they could add a bit of bling like levers/adjusters or just make something lighter or stronger.
But you see hundreds on trials days so people obviously like them.
It was trust me….
Are you sure you have a standard model or the SS (Super Soft or Super Smooth) engine response?
Every UK Beta is Super soft which is a shame..
Danny. was this the SS version (Super Smooth)? You did mention "super soft". If so, were your previously owned Beta's also the SS version or were they the factory model with lighter flywheel, higher gearing, and more compression?
All the bikes into the UK are the SS version (unfortunately for every expert rider)
@@TrialTube Why is that? Seems like they limit their market with that strategy.
owned 6 going on 7 now all factory, but now on a 22' (300)Standard...I'm Clubman- Advance(sometimes :/) the factory is a great bike with all the goodies that count and a beast!...but Standard is way more manageable...but needs some Factory upgrades! I took all (top to bottom)the clutch components from factory and put to standard(big diff) put a factory rear shock(standard way too stiff no rebound---shite) changed brake rotors and added Gaffer brake pads...standard is shite! Air-box is an issue, keep your filters clean especially in Cali or dusty areas...changed pilot jet to a 50(thanks ChrisC.) runs cleaner, just play with air screw(constantly:/ but makes a diff. change air-screw and Idle-adjust screw for convenience... change gearing back 40-41 helps the 42 makes 1st gear worthless... a few things I can completely rag on(petcock, fender brace,...Beta just needs some R&D ...they have an awesome bike but others are catching and passing...know whud'um say'n!
I do lol
How does it compare on the cost front, best bang for your buck (grip) ?
When it comes down to cost and value that’s tricky. It grips well but when you spend more you get more…traction!
Thank you, that answers that! 👍
I've been away from Betas for some years now, did they solve the stator and overflowing carb' issues?
Yes on the stata and the overflowing isn’t a thing anymore either 👍
@@TrialTube Great channel. However my new 21 had continuos overflow from carb. Everywhere. Then after 3 weeks just stopped wetting herself. All good again. Agree with comments but Beta are proven and never let you down. Looking forward to 3 year review of Vertigo when novelty wears off the shiny new thing......
@@mattr3067 well, my 21 Beta blew up under me due to factory error and my Vertigo so far has been the most reliable and easily maintained vessel ever. I too would defend Beta as their heritage and history alone makes them a great brand. Although as someone that teaches and rides everyday the continuous carb servicing due to a poor Airbox seal. As well as lack of protection for the filter became tiresome and annoying. Aside from the fact that the Beta brakes in comparison to the braktec are for a lack of a beta word (see what I did there) shocking!
@@TrialTube That was a very kind review you gave so...sorry to hear it packed up on you...not to bother you but what happened. P.S....I too want a Vertigo...very badly and yes, I would so like better brakes.....Thanks again for taking time for such an excellent and professional channel...with a laugh.
@@mattr3067 the guys at Beta were very professional and fixed it rapid so I try not to let too much out afterwards!
Thanks for watching!
How does it compare to the 4-tuner brother?
The four stroke you mean? I would prefer the 2-banger always! 🤘
What bike would you recommend for a first trials bike? Ridden enduro bikes on green lanes for 4 years .Thinking a 250 Beta Evo or gasgas txt 🤔
Both great choices and good all rounders!
What about a review of some 125s. My 15 year old daughter now wants to get into trials. The obvious choice is a beta 125 but how does that compare to other 125s on the limited market?
I will have to get my hands on a few and make sure we give them all a proper run through!!
@@TrialTube can't imagine it will be an easy task. Good luck.
@@glennpalmer4528 true that!!!
I have a 2020 factory 125 and have had many people much better than me ride it and they were all surprised with the power. No it is not a 300 but they do have plenty of power for most. Just be on top of jetting and ready to replace spark plugs.
Overall, a solid platform. However, items for improvement; the kickstand mount easily loosens and breaks off easily. Beta please, fix this!! Give us a front number plate with the headlight built in. Re-engineer the rear skid plate mounting bolts. I made the mistake of allowing these to wear out to the point where I had to cut the bolts off with a grinder - not fun. There MUST be a better way. Otherwise, this is the most reliable, easy to ride, long lasting Trials bike you can buy.
How many gears do these bike's have and how fast are they.
1 down 5 up
6 gears, about 50 mph but you'll never get me going that quickly on it. Not like riding a street bike at all.
@@fprintf that’s because it isn’t one, I bet a street bike doesn’t climb six foot verticals too well?? It’s not about speed my man it’s about substance.
@@TrialTube Absolutely! :-) Plus who stands on a street bike at any rate of speed? Not me, that's for sure. #beta200crew
Have owned the 3004t, very reliable, EZ to start, miss it....
You will like our 2 stroke vs 4 stroke video!!
No mention of the ridiculous plastic fork brace?
Honestly I have never broken one during my time on Beta. (11 years) But you can always fit the BOSI one. Not ideal on a new bike I know.
This vs sherco? help me guys
Pick the Beta lol
Have a run on the new scorpa,
Would love get me hands on it
We call them Bacon strips in the mountain bike world
Haha that’s a good name
Gino Beta D’Sheffield
Trials tube videos are like buses,,, you wait months for one,, then 3 come along 😂
Haha cheers, doing my best!
It is an EVO (evolution) isn’t it? 😊
If only it would evolve….
Can you please explain the Sheffield joke to someone from Rotherham 😂
Never watched Celeb juice?
Never watched Celeb juice?
Yes I have, now I remember, when he winds up Gino about being from. Sheffield 😂
I love my 2017 beta 4t. Linkeages are shit but every other part of the bike is quality. Ive had 2 gasgas bikes and 2 shercos. The beta is better built and looks better. Timeless design is right, a 2009 gasgas looks dated as all hell but the 2009 evo doesn't.
Correct and thank you for a great comment!!!
Gino Sheffield D'Acampo
Why does Chesterfield always pretend it's in Sheffield. It's Derbyshire, own it haha
Hahaha awesome!!
Every year is the same bike!!!
That’s what we address and didn’t you comment about Montesa? They have the same problem also…
@@juancarlosrodriguezmondelo1459 the cost to innovate an engine and key parts is expensive. Given trials is a niche and doesn't share parts with other manafacturers models, easy to see how progress is steady.
You Beta HATER!!!! Give us a shout out Dan! I’ve got you 10 subscribers (I know) put my name James Davies somewhere in you’re next vid! Go on lad!!!! Enjoying the videos mate 👍
Will do bud !!!
Montesa is better
Haha well I will review one soon!
Your italian sounds worst than my english! hahahahaha
Sorry bro! But thanks for watching
Please remove that horrible mandolin music, Betamotor is Italian and not from Naples 😂
