- This week on Trial Tube we are revisiting a video that we have made before in season 1 but with a difference this time the viewers will be able to decide on which bike they like the best out of the bikes that have come far enough to no longer require a carburettor.
We pit against each other the latest in fuel injected trials motorcycle machines over the exact same sections once more.
Who will win when it comes to this battle of the two most epic brands open the market right now. Will it be the experience and sturdiness of the Montesa Cota 4RT 301RR? Or will the new kid on the block from Vertigo with their famed R3 take the win?

bought a 301 about 6 months ago. probably the best bike i have ever had. heavier than the rest but the suspension and brakes make up for it. maintenance is super easy. build quality is outstanding and second hand value is brill

Hey Dan, loving your work! What would be the chances of doing a couple of videos using older smaller bikes? I’m just starting out in trials and have a Rev 3 250 (wanted a 200 really) and it would be cool to see some
comparisons or reviews done on the older less powerful bikes for us newbies/lower level Clubman riders. Or maybe it’s just me. Happy for you to do a video just for me if necessary 😬
For clarity, it would just be interesting to see how you compare the older bread and butter stuff to the newer top kid the range stuff for the benefit of us who have older bikes rather than new 300’s for a bit of variety 😀

@@TrialTube Ive just ordered a race top and pants but ordered fat size hahah, got to meet up with your dad again today when buying a trailer so nothing stopping me and the lad getting out and practicing now. Slowly getting through your videos when time permits and learning almost as much as when riding, keep them coming great content.
Dan, if sound was a consideration for riding close to homes etc do you think the 4 stroke was noticeably more obtrusive or similar?
Both bikes look very capable the 2-stroke has a nice quiet sound to it

On my channel you can see some tricky obstacles for common drivers like me (not professionals) made with my Montesa 301 and Montesa 300 by Future (2011 constantly renewed through the years).
I like Montesa for the push of the 4T and for reliability (one time I completed a trip with injection tube disconnected!).
Yes it's more heavy, but also much more stable... and when you launch the bike in the right direction this is a real help!
Moreover as your drive capabilities grows the bike seems really light and friendly!
Maybe Montesa is more suitable for massive people like me...😉

Regarding Sörra. I was a few times in their Webshop because the price of the kits seam to be very good. Do you know if there are different types of pants? I have a Hebo pant and after wearing the three times there were holes in it, without extensive use…. Not good.

I really want to see an older scorpa review,I think my 09 sy250 is amazing however... I'm shite so I'd like to see a competition rider on one? Same for the all older 2 strokes really. Just to see the advances over the years...😬😬 Love the vids by the way 👍

@@hoping67 I had a 97 Scorpa Easy and then the 99 and they were like riding a paving stone with a drag engine, just look at some Images of the big ball on the exhaust near the Rotax engine. They said it was to tame the engine power? After that I went Bultaco Sherco with 3 bikes 2000/01/02 and they got progressively worse. So I went Beta and wasn’t impressed. I was talking to Martin Crosswaite and he talked me into buying a new Scorpa SY (sales pitch back then) I rode them from 2004 up until 2009 and I was ultra impressed with them. Unfortunately there was a lack of development I thought and it appeared that Scorpa were always content with old style engines. Although the Yam was super smooth compared to the Rotax it just never really moved forward. In all honesty most bikes progression is painfully slow now as we are for now as far as we can progress.
I had a 06 sy250 as my first trials bike got it last September, great bike to learn on did over 100 days out and it never went wrong, changed it for a 18 beta factory start of the summer.
Now we just need a comparison between a vertigo nitro and the new montesa cota 4rt 260r. The montesa does seem more temping at that price and now that its showa back and front. Both great bikes just a pity montesa dont make a 2 stroke fuel injected bike. Then that would be real competition.
Well the nitro video is coming very soon 👍 I think we all wish there was still a Honda 2 stroke option

He has changed so many parts now to lighten the bike and it still way heavier

He wanted a lighter feeling bike and the Montesa does just that it feels lighter to actually Ride . I’m not sure if it’s lighter overall cost of actually both quite heavy but he said he felt a difference.

For me at the moment it’s my Vertigo however I love some of the more classical bikes. They all have character and that’s why they all have their own special place! Hard to pick really
