- It is hard to believe, but it has been TWO YEARS since we started renovating my fixer upper house!! Today I wanted to show you a progress tour of how far we have come... it is so cool to see the changes and how AMAZING it looks!!
Hey there! My name is Abby and I recently bought a MAJOR fixer upper house. I am SO excited to work on fixing it up this old house and turning it into my dream home. I can't wait to take you on this journey with me! I am planning to DIY as much as I can and learn so much about home renovations along the way. I am starting out totally clueless so I am sure it will be a grand adventure! I can't believe it's been 2 years. That seems impossible. Until you did the recap. You have accomplished so much. Made me remember all of those day of tearing it down, just so you could build all of these beautiful things. The next 4 month's, yeah, it seems almost possible you could be about ready to move in. I knew it would get to that point, now it seems so close. ❤

The house that a dream re-built ♥️ As someone who’s heart breaks a little whenever I see an old home left abandoned to rot away, you are a hero to me. There is something about doing the work that bonds you to a place. The amazing creek area alone would have sold me. I’m happy to have watched this homes rebirth from the beginning.

I can not believe all the hard work and new skills you learned but most of all the joy you showed in the smiles and excitement you couldn’t control. I forgot how bad the house was in the beginning. It was nice to go back in time and show us all the many, many improvements you have done the last 2 years! I can't believe 2yrs have went by already. I started watching you remodel this house from the GET-GO!! Big HUGE fan of your Dad's channel, Working horses with Jim. The story about the couple that built & lived in the house for yrs, that actually cut down trees to build it was by far my favorite!! And to top it off replanting trees yrs ago, your dad is cutting down & putting it into the lumber to remodel the house over again was mind blowing!! I said months ago & thought you would be moving into the house by the holidays & I think I just maybe right about that one!! Love watching you & Jay & all your helpers bring this dream you had come true in the next few months!! I can’t believe how much you ( and Jay ) have accomplished in these past two years. I think the biggest change has been in you. From a girl knowing so little about construction, to a confident, take it on full speed ahead, kind of gal. Jay has taught you so much, but you are the one willing to learn and give it your all! I can't wait for the next phases to come. Trimming out doorways and windows, installing light fixtures, and putting in the kitchen. Thanks for putting up will all our ideas along with your own. Your head must have been spinning at times. I was one pushing for the dormer and bath upstairs, and once you resolved yourself to it, you ran with it head long. It’s been an amazing trip with you so far. Thank you.

Hello from New Zealand 🇳🇿 I cannot believe you’ve been in my life for 2 years. Wow. What an achievement, ive loved every moment, but the biggest thing that stands out for me is your personal development. Watching your confidence grow as you master a new skill and watching how differently you carry yourself these days. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, you’re a remarkable woman. My personal favourite was when you and your sister cut a tree for the first Christmas and decorated it - she’s wasn’t a perfect tree but she was absolutely your statement. I actually laughed and clapped when you showed us the tree through the windows from the front.
Please do NOT overlook the HUGE importance of ceiling fans! You will NEVER be sorry if you install good quality ones. It also saves on air conditioning and dramatically helps ambiance. Great job, Abby, keep slugging!
I’ve been watching this since your first walk through with us. I can’t believe how much I’ve forgotten about all the teeny, tiny rooms. Full of old furniture. Some of it, I would have loved having! I love how you’ve completely opened up everything. I think one of my happy memories was of you and your sister putting up your first Christmas “tree”. It was more like a Charlie Brown tree. But you were so excited dreaming of the day you could light up that bay window area and have lights all around your house outside. You are so close. I’m so happy for you. You know every inch of your house. Inside and out! You’ve touched every room. Congratulations on 2 years. You’re just about there.

I’ve followed you from day one and find it amazing as to how much has been done and that you have stuck with it!!!! It’s so hard to keep going sometimes when you take on a project that requires so much time for so long. You and Jay have really brought us through this step by step.

Been here from the beginning. Can't believe it's been 2 years! Glad you listened to us on that dormer. It's beautiful. And the house is beautiful and you are beautiful! Happy 2 year anniversary!
The scariest part was repairing that foundation by the bay window. The funniest was when you and your sister or a friend did demolition and listened to old records left there. Most impressive is all the hard work you did for two years, a weaker woman would have quit after a couple of months. With Jay's willingness to keep doing what you wanted you have arrived at this day.
Yes I forgot about the old records!! Now that was really early on.

Even when dressed in old rags, she’s the pinnacle of a perfect woman (in my minds eye).
Today, dressed in casual clothes, she makes them look like formal wear (probably is for her 😂).

When you first walked through the house and the bedroom upstairs had all the paper and junk hanging down, I thought, “Oh my goodness! What a nightmare!” But you had the vision. And I’m so impressed with how much you’ve learned to do on your own. Jay is amazing but you are just as amazing and an inspiration to me. I can’t wait to see it all come together

So many incredible renovations that is turning this rumbled down structure into a lovely functional home.
Please add HEATED FLOORS to your bathroom renovations. They go under the hardsurface flooring, transforming the freezing cold floor into a warm, cozy place to put your toasty warm shower/bath tootsie onto, changing your exclamation from "Yew that floor is so cold to Awww!!! This is the finishing touch of pure luxury!!!"

The hardest part for me to watch was when you were hauling, mixing and shovelling all of the foundation cement late into the night. You are a remarkable, hardworking, creative and positive women. I am looking forward to the next four months.

Abby- what a transformation since I started watching two years ago! We are New Hampshire farmers.Your dad put us on to your new channel and house project back then. We built our house in 2016. The cost of owning your own home has skyrocketed! By far, buying a fixer upper is the way to go if you have the heart to do all the work involved. Really love your progress tour. Everything you've done has been amazing and looks so beautiful. It won't be long now and you will be in your cozy new home enjoying all that it has to offer. As they say "you've come a long way baby" and not much longer to go. You need to give yourself a huge pat on the back and give Jay the biggest hug possible. He has taught you some life lessons and you'll be amazed in years to come if you need repairs done here and there--you know exactly how it was built and where things were put it etc and will help you.

It's amazing how far you've come - I have been here since day one and watched the transformation unfold. I forgot what it looked like on the initial walk through. I remember the panty, hoping you would keep it. I have a walk-in pantry and love it, all homes should come with one. The original one, love the drawers, cupboards, shelves, bead board, etc.
Aren't you glad, you listened to all the comments about adding an upstairs bathroom? You originally didn't have one planned.
You'll be so glad you invested the time and money to add one.
The walk-in storage area in the bedroom - if you add shelves in there, you'll have even more storage, be able to inventory stored items better and keep it more organized. Can store all like items together.
Now we get to see all the fun design stuff - how exciting!
