it was so awesome to see how Jerry knows that you shouldn’t just replace someone just because you can, even if they’re the same person from another universe it doesn’t matter, it’s not the same. He said it perfectly, he didn’t want to leave, that was as perfect as it gets, that’s where he belongs.

None of them wanted to be saved, because that reality was better than any reality with Rick. Morty did care about them, but he also didn't want to live in a post-apocalyptic hell-hole, which is very fair. By far, one of Jerry's finest moments. Hermit Jerry was Morty's original dad. He sired him and raised him for the first fourteen years of his life. As such, you can hear the anger, hurt, resentment, and betrayal on the speech he gives Morty.
The "I'm cool enough" question reflects how angry he feels at Morty always sticking up with Rick, despite endangering him often, over him, who just wanted Morty to be safe. Jerry was forced to become cool by fighting a zombie apocalypse by himself and with the rest of his family. And he then lost his wife and daughter in the process of surviving.
I also love how he calls out Morty on abandoning his family. He left with Rick and never came back, replacing the family he knew for a new one. The way he yells at Morty for not treating him and the rest of his original family like people shows how much respect he lost for Morty. His son chose to remain with Rick and his new family rather than risk Jerry. You can see how he's blaming Morty for the death of Beth and Summer because he chose an easier option rather than deal with a harsh reality.
The thing about moving on shows a great way of dealing with grief that is undermined by cynicism and aloofness. Jerry doesn't want to replace his wife and daughter. He moved on and now knows how to survive in the universe that Morty destroyed. It's clear to him that Morty adopted Rick's coping mechanism of moving to different realities, so he refuses because he'd rather suffer and move on to a better life than just running away from it.

Very well said. A lot of people also want to point out how Jerry destroyed the other portal gun when morty came back just to give Summer and “I told you so” but they failed to realize that Jerry and the rest of the family were surviving in this hell hole caused by Rick and Morty, and Morty was just going to bail on them in the first place but OG Jerry was well aware of that and snagged the portal gun just so Morty can face the consequences that he’s caused. Morty never had an attachment to Jerry, and Jerry knew this. This episode really makes me appreciate all Jerry’s in general. Like the man will do anything for his kids, but they choose to put him down at any given moment because of how Toxic Rick is. This is best shown with how Beth treats Jerry now as oppose to seasons 1-3 where she would constantly belittle him, now seasons 4-6 she’s very much loves him for his quirks because she no longer seeks Ricks approval.

Jerry is a prime example that the people you surround yourself with define you. He was never cool because his family would never allow him to be. Remember when he and Beth viewed alternate timelines during the Interdimensional Cable episode? The Jerry in the other timeline then was a movie star. He hung out with and fucked other movie stars. Beth, Morty, Summer, and Rick are all so toxic to him that it stunted him. they prevented him from growing, and when they aren't in his life, we see him become the extreme badass he is truly capable of being.
So if you find yourself surrounded by toxic people, get out of there however you can. You could be a Jerry. So full of potential, but never given a chance to explore it, thanks to those around you.

Constantly, he was always judgemental of Rick for not caring about people and throwing them away, but Morty did the same thing to his family. *His original family.* Even when him and Summer went back, he didn't even show remorse for leaving them or affection for them. He left them to die. Twice. But he was using this to show Summer how careless and heartless *Rick* was.

As he said, he has lost as much as Rick, his children and wife, and he lives in a post-apocalyptic world full of cronenbergs only, but he found fulfillment anyway and found out how to move on and keep living his life in his own reality, instead of taking shortcuts with a portal gun, turning you into someone who doesn't care about anything and sees everything as replaceable toys. On top of it, he was the one who had a chance to face Rick Prime and kill him. And even though he failed, the reason he made that choice was to protect his own Morty, who abandoned his original family and left them to survive in the Cronenberg Reality. Now, that's what a real man would do.

Even with that in mind, he's got no real malice towards him either, and even took a long shot at giving Morty a head start against Rick prime. So the fact that he's telling him to fuck off here shows he means it at the bottom of his heart. You can't simply undo that bond, but neither can you ever undo that betrayal. one of the harshest lines in the series, and yet, wonderfully delivered. from Jerry's point of view, morty destroyed the world, then froze and killed his family. and this is morty's true dad, and he is that saying that he knows things can't be fixed, and doesn't want things to be 'fixed' becasue rick and morty never 'fix things' they run away from them. Jerry doesn't, he just deals with it...its part fo the reason I feel Jerry is the anti-rick in the show, they have completely different coping mechanisms.

You know Jerry was right when he said Rick was a terrible influence on Morty. When things went wrong on the Earth because of their actions, Morty bailed and abandoned his family. Not once did he ever think or consider or think about going back to save them or get them off the planet to a safer planet or universe. Morty just got himself a new family and didn't think twice about his original one. Jerry rightfully calls Morty out on this and just shows contempt and disgust for when Morty after he offers to find him a new family. That isn't going to fix anything. Jerry is actually dealing with his grief, while both Rick and Morty just universe hop to get away from it all.

I know this scene makes look Morty as the one that ruined his original dimension, and I am not denying his part, but the one that ruined it in a bigger scale was in fact Rick. He was narcicistic and irresponsable enough to give a teen a love potion, without thinking about every possible way that could go wrong despite how obvious it was.
Rick gave morty the means to roofie Jessica, he even admits it in front of Morty and piles the blame on him when in fact it was HIM who gave Morty the love potion in the first place. You just dont hand a teen something like that and expect everything to go well. As an adult he should have either give him better adivise (wich was never gonna happen) or take him to someone who can adress the situation.
"Nothing really matters, so it's the same if I let my grandson roofie someone else as long as he leaves me in peace". That is what I felted when he so easely gave the love potion to Morty.

Well morty trying to roofie Jessica is bad on it’s own, I agree though that it’s mostly ricks fault for destroying the world. However it’s everything morty did after that makes him a piece of shit. This was his real family, the people that birthed and raised him, and he never came back for them. Now after all this time, after his dad is the only one still alive, he has that audacity to defend his actions by saying “it made you better.” Then he offers to give his dad a new family like they’re replaceable, and maybe a lot of this is a result of the trauma Rick has put morty through, but still, morty could have gone back to help them, and instead forgot about them

As much of this is rick's doing, morty is more culpable due to his still existing sense of morality. Morty new better than to get rick to make something that was essentially a roofie, he knew it was wrong and he knew leaving their world for a new one was wrong, still he went along with it and even pushed rick to do it. Meanwhile rick didnt even consider the consequences because this already isnt his world. Its meaningless and replacable to him.

Keep in mind back when Prime universe got cronenberged, Rick took an extremely traumatized Morty and placed him into another perfect sandbox of his old reality and reinforced over and over again that everything is okay and they're just gonna go with it-- and this happened several more times. Rick taught a developing Morty that people can be replaceable because you can just yoink one from another dimension or hop and abandon, completely forgetting the last place as if pressing a reset button-- this is how he's taught Morty to deal with his trauma. It's only this episode that he's faced with the cold hard fact that he was a shitty person, cross-dimensional, and that he's left behind pain and hatred because of it.
