    If you refill your adblue and your car still won't start no matter how many days it sits, then there's a trick I found to reset the sensor. Jack the front end of your car up so the liquid tilts to the rear of the tank and then try to start. Mine fired up right away and the sensor reset. I found this out by trying to start it while it was hooked up to a tow truck.

    Is there a brand specific to car brands or does adblue work for any diesel that needs it?

    My Passat TDI was rear end one month after I bought it brand new. The entire right rear side was smashed in and the body shop had to take it to the dealer several times to get the exhaust working correctly. It has been 6 months since this repair was completed and I have 5500 miles on the car. I just saw an adblue notice on the panel this even. Is it a coincidence that this came on or could it be related to the accident or is it normal to have that light come on before the first oil change?

    So after cutting the Ad Blue bottle to make a funnel is there any way to make sure I do not fill the tank and end up having to unscreww the funnel when it may be full of fluid. That VCDS is about a hundered bucks so I would rather just try to figure a way to not end up trying to unscrew a full funnel.

    • @myturbodieseld0tcom
      @myturbodieseld0tcom  Před 10 lety

      Update: you can unscrew the top of the bottle and refill it, you just have to turn it really hard against the "tamper proof" teeth.
      Please join my TDI forum at myturbodiesel.com for any more questions as I usually do not see youtube comments.

    Thanks for the video. It saved me from going to the dealer again. I got 5 gallons of Peak Blue DEF for less than 28 dollars and had no problem using the hose included to fill up the tank on my 2010 Audi Q7. Those Kruse bottle are a neat idea though not necessary on my vehicle with the fill tube right next to the diesel fill tube.

    FWIW the AdBlue level in VCDS is actually a ghost value if you will. It doesn't mean anything and doesn't change. The level sensor in the NMS Passat only knows when it's getting to low to set the warning. It doesn't know or care above that. On some models like the Touareg this value is actually accurate.

    who ever thought of this, (def) didn't live in northern states. My wife was stuck in -5 temperatures, I had to go get her this fluid was frozen solid in the tank.. I could get my truck to move only 5 mph. I called the dealer he said let it idle longer so the heating element could melt it better. 1 hour and 45 minutes I was able to get her. They need to do something about this cause the manual says no prolong idling. Now what?
    By the way, its going down to -20 without wind chill tonight. check weather for Chicago on this date 1/28/14

      superkunk2 I was speaking to a bus driver that the bus he was driving lost most of it's power in the traffic intersection while the bus motor was warming up when he was on an early shift. I can see trucks and buses and cars that come with adblue will get it removed from the vehicle. I don't want adblue in a 4X4 but i live in a warmer area here in Australia.

    • @seanzappulla71
      @seanzappulla71 Před 9 lety +2

      superkunk2 The motor vehicle makers need to have a type of heater in the Adblue tank for cold weather areas or when they need to start the vehicle early in the morning or in snowy areas. it's going to keep auto electrician's very busy with installing a switch that will over ride the Adblue systems in colder areas like the South Island in New Zealand.

    I am sure that the system can easily be defeated and simply reactivated when it is inspection time. Not a deal killer for me.

  • @JackJonesTheButcher

    I have a VW Sharan 2.0TDI which I've had for 2.5 years and it requires Adblue. It's a pain in the butt - needs to go back to the dealer every 15,000 miles or so for topping up. "Not a customer refillable item" they say. I now have a Nox sensor fault which says I don't have enough Adblue even though I do. The dealer says my car could turn the engine off at any point and refuse to restart, and I should no longer drive it on a public road.
    Next car I get will NOT have Adblue if I can help it. Pain in the ass.
