- A long-dormant volcano in Fagradalsfjall near Reykjavik in south-west Iceland flared to life on Friday night, spilling lava down two sides in the area's first volcanic eruption in nearly 800 years. Initial aerial footage, posted on social media by the Icelandic Meteorological Office, showed a relatively small eruption so far, with two streams of lava running in opposite directions

Record breaking temperatures in the capital of Iceland today, imagine that coming towards your house slowly just having to watch your life disappear in seconds hope no animal's or people get hurt
@Truth Hurts 🤣🤣 yes mate I know, I mean from a distance watching the fire and smoke not your house specifically but everything...must be devastating
Nature's own way . Please don't tell Greta Thungberg. She probably waving her global warming card again .
@@tinaforbes1059 hahaha yea that kid 👉 🤡 a global Bratt init lol natures getting angry definitely
The eruption isn't expected to be life threatening apparently, it's just big news because it's been 800 years since the last one. It's close to the capital city but not close enough to do any damage to any inhabited areas.
@ Blaze Clarke. Glad to hear that . It's the next country on my list to visit .
I hope everyone is safe and doesn't get hurt. Pray for these people that have their life put in danger because of volcanoes.
it’s iceland, they are used to volaconoes and these eruptions actually benifit the country so they are well prepared
@@bradleyb4967 Oh ok. Still hope they are ok if anything goes wrong
@Ryan McRae Iceland has some of the best meteorological teams in the world as iceland is a developed volcanic island so they are verry well prepared
That Friday night curry didn’t go down well then
Hopefully no one gets hurt and all is safe. But at the same time what a spectacle to look at.
Enjoy it while it lasts, all volcanoes are required to go fully electric by 2030 to comply with new emission regulations ; )
And all power stations are going to go fully electric as well.
they have gone to great lengths to try and get the godzilla v king kong film to look hyper realistic
I loved Iceland when I visited in October, 2019. Doesn’t look so icy now…
Here in Hawaii we call this type of lava pahoehoe (pa-ho-eh-ho-eh). When cooled its smooth and easy to walk on. Unlike ‘a’ā (ah-ah) which is sharp, spiky and rubble like which makes it slow and tough to walk on when cooled.
Wow.... No words
Why is it that when it comes to news it’s never really in full HD.
0:01 FFS 2021.🤯
It's actually beautiful tho
At least they can bask in the warmth 🤗. Hope everyone is safe though.
This is why I wouldn’t built a house near a volcano.
@Ryan McRae ..I hope the plan works.
Are all the planes getting grounded again like last time there was an eruption.
Mother Earth is changing her dress.
Whoah
The whole thing kinda looks like an arm reaching out.
It's Magnus Magma-sson...."I've started so I'll finish"
Cool
How bad is that The Guardian had no footage so spliced together old volcano footage from Iceland - Shameful to be the British Press. Rekjavik Grapevine, real Journalism, has footage from today so you can see what it looks like close up.
I wonder if the loss of ice had any effect on the eruption?
So let me guess you are going to blame global warming?
It's probably the Icelandic plates entering a new age. It only started with warning signs at January. It was relatively calm before with 1,2 magnitudal quakes, at max 3 mag but now its hit three to 5, if rare seven mag with no sign of rest. Literally 20k quakes in a week.
After a comet hits planet earth, Fauci, will say we have found a new variant of Corona From Pluto
Looks like no holidays abroad
Oh wait.....
Has anyone ever noticed that when weather or natural occurrences are on the news, they’re almost always seen as bad and dangerous
Whenever anything is on the news, it's seems as if it's bad and dangerous lol
@Ryan McRae Recent Icelandic eruptions haven't caused huge loss of life. Go back 250 years and about a quarter of the population of Iceland were killed by the direct and indirect effects of one eruption (Laki).
It's unlikely that would happen again in the 21st century as we understand the hazards much better and can evacuate people much more effectively. That being said, it's unlikely we'll see a repeat of Laki from this current eruption.
@Ryan McRae Most of the human deaths were from famine, yes, which is an indirect effect, caused by half the livestock dying and almost all the crops failing.
Fortunately, a disaster of that scale would be unlikely to happen in modern Iceland.
should be named lavaland
It's 2021 the brother of 2020
You've got to ask yourself where Pogba was in all of this? Could he not have prevented it? I expect more from a £100 million player
Nothing new here see 2021, 2020 came and break our balls
Not this again, at least few people are flying anyway.
@Ryan McRae Oh! That's great news.
Footage dated 2014. OMG :)
How do you know that?

Ok that is funny.
It's biblical
Thankfully this does not contribute to C02 emissions.
Not at all. And nature does not contribute either only evil humans do that.
@@bighands69 Well, nature does contribute, it's just humans heavily increase the rate in which it contributes
@@bighands69What a relief, knowing that only mankind creates C02.

Eruption? more like leaking.....
Mother nature's orgasam Haha
Well it had to happen one day 🤷🏻♀️
Don't forget to tax car drivers for all the co2 produced by the volcano. Definitely our fault.
Noice
it it just me or does it look like a shotgun.
it's you, I see lava
@@user-bl4oq7fd8d I mean the shape of the lava. lol
