Excellent interview with a lot of important questions. I like how Carlos is helping others achieve good for the world with his experience and the internet is truly making it easy to do everything remotely, so I do not think this would impact him at all. Hopefully he wins the law suit too, well deserved compensation.
Always fascinating to hear Carlos speak. One of the most competent senior executives of our time. What is most shocking is how in Japan, a country I always thought respected human rights, that the notion you are innocent until proven guilty does not seem to apply. And a 99% conviction rate? He had no chance of a fair trial.

I like Carlos Ghosn. As for the charges against him, I am not in a position to judge the extent of their validity; However, I am sure that this person is a genius; And he performed clear services to the Japanese economy, in particular, after he raised a bankrupt company and turned it into profitability. This is not how he should have been treated and his freedom restricted like other criminals, as the accused is innocent until proven guilty.

According to him, and Japan has not disputed it, the initial charge was "not paying tax on income as yet undetermined and as yet not paid to Carlos". How absurd! The Japanese jsutice system needs a radical upgrade.
He was charged because he was a gaijin that tried to be a boss of Japanese people. It wasn't as if the police had been building a case against him, they never did. The Nissan Japanese executives attacked against the gaijin executives by just telling the police to arrest the foreigner. In Japan police listen to the executives and just do what they say (Confucianism). So the police arrested Ghosn even before they had looked at the evidence against him. They know that evidence doesn't matter when the accused in a gaijin. Why do you think only a gaijin was arrested, but later, Japanese executives were also charged (but not arrested).
I have always a good feeling about Carlos. I still remember how he made Renault and later Nissan a succes. A real good thinking businessman. As soon you have a succes in life they try to find something to hit you.

Ghosn is NOT guilty. I will never be able to make Nissan rich or be any possitice influence or carrier of their future prosperity. But from being an avid Nissan fan, after their clear malicious action against Ghost, I have gotten an extreme sour taste in my mind set towards them. And I know I am not the only one.

Hope justice is done for Ghosn. What a turn around he bought in particular to Nissan. I own both a Nissan 350Z and Alpine A110 - both only exist because of Ghosn. Looks like he has much more to offer .
I wouldn't worry about Renault now, as it's currently managed by a competent CEO.

His escape was indeed great and somewhat fortuitous considering that it was executed just a few months before the world turned upside down with COVID starting in March 2020. Whew!! Close call. He is certainly blessed with both business-growing acumen and grand luck!

Even though he started very early with BEVs, I have the impression that he interrupted the drive to develop more BEVs or a competitive new BEV platform for the group. By 2019, many other established car makers caught up and surpassed Renault Nissan with regards to BEVs.
The East is very different than the West ( in every sense), so one should keep that in mind if anyone is thinking about working/starting a life in the Asian countries.

I worked 8 years for a Japanese multinational. They don't like and don't allow non-japanese in management positions, with a few exceptions, and I think Ghosn was one of those exceptions, unfortunately it turned bad for him.
They use foregnirs only for face saving from international community but they dont like foregnirs espasily on the top of the compney as ceo

Japanese justice system is so old. They should really change it.Carlos was one of victims today. Japan and Nissan have to pay for what they did for him. If not they should really explain in public why they took such unrespected measure to someone who rescued Nissan from hell.

I still have a Renault Twizy from 2012. Not the best vehicle but at this time Renault was doing well. Also I remember the video "The Revenche of the Electric Car"

I loved Nissan. My first car, which I also rally preped and competed in, was a Nissan. When Ghson made Nissan back into a global superpower and presided over the return of the Z and the global GT-R, I was stoked. But when that entire plot happened I lost a lot of respect for the company and their focus on performance.
