    I'm not a "Corvette Guy", but the new C7 is without a doubt the best sports car bargain in the world. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either a hater, or in complete denial.

    "Corvette doesn't really feel like a sports car"
    What? I gotta admit, even as an American, I am not a fanboy of Corvette (Porsche is more my type) however, it just feels like American cars just can't catch a break. I feel like you have to look at the Corvette in context in order to truly appreciate it. It gives you 911 performance for almost half the money. In that light, I can't see how you cant look at a c7 and not see it as one of the best SPORTS cars on sale today.

      so in other words, you like to spend more (way more) and get less. if you really prefer a VW 911 over a Corvette, you are probably not the sportscar purist with the skills to handle something that actually needs to be driven, as opposed to do all the driving through filters for the "driver", or rather the passenger/occupant. greets from germany.

      Get more in which way? 911 has a far better interior, far better quality, its more comfortable, quieter, nicer to drive, and will last longer. And give me a break about the Corvette being a purist car that takes skill to handle...thats the 911 description.

  • @montanarealty83

    Why Europeans insist on just hating on American cars like the Vette is getting old. No matter how good it is, they'll claim another European car is better out of bias. And the cars they compare the Vette to are sometimes 2-3 times more expensive. Just a wee bit unfair? Nah. And why is the Vette's interior not nearly as good as an F-Type or a 911?! The 911's interior is drab and boring, the F-Type consistently has knocks against it for its flimsy interior. But while reviewing an American car those same interiors are then praised. Bias? Nah.

      It's not a cheap car in Europe. It's around £60,000 in the UK ($96,000), and for that money it just isn't good enough. At $35,000 to $40,000 in the US it brilliant. At Near;y $96,000 here it isn't.

    Not to mention the fact that it looks absolutely stunning. As far as bang for your buck, I don't think you can go wrong. If worrying about the price tag is of no concern to you, than certainly you probably will find better cars but comparing a 250-500 thousand dollar super car to a 90-110 thousand dollar super car is kind of unfair.

    • @inudude15
      @inudude15 Před 10 lety +1

      I'd be fun to conduct I'm sure, but really there's no comparison to be made here. I mean honestly, no one, I repeat, no one, is cross shopping these two.
      Corvettes are bought by balding, rounding, mid-life crisis sufferers who will keep their newly purchased Vette squeaky clean and concealed in the garage. They'll take it out once every six months to take it to the club meeting where they all gather around and look at each other's Vette's and talk about how fast their Vette's are, how much better they are than the 911, and then they'll drive home and back into the garage till next time.
      It's good news for us really, it just means the next generation of really clean, low mileage sports cars has just gotten a whole lot more capable, but let's be honest these cars aren't going to be driven in anger till their first owners become too arthritic to climb aboard any more.
      The F-type on the other hand, that's a fashion accessory, not a sports car. And I'm not insulting its credentials because apparently it's an epic fun drive. But in reality, it could have a C4 Corvette's interior, handle like a C3, and have the C1's Blue Flame six cylinder for motivation and it just wouldn't matter.
      The F-type is gorgeous, painfully pretty, and that's all it really needs to be. The E-type was a flawed car; the Moss gearbox was apparently a massive pain in the ass, they slightly fibbed the car's then world leading top speed, and they had to use lead shot in the roof to keep it from flapping at speed. But that didn't matter, because it was just breathtakingly beautiful.
      The Corvette is a great sports car, for the first time in decades it's no longer the cheap alternative. But the F-type, is a work of art

  • @deebee68
    @deebee68 Před 10 lety +14

    I could have taken the time to listen to the whole thing. It wasn't a horrible review and the fact the car was on winter tires might explain some of it. That being said the Vette is an amazing car for the money. Hands down best bang for the buck. Regarding fair reviews over seas... Almost never happens... Regarding an American car or any car for that matter getting judged fairly in the States I disagree. I've seen the latest Mustang GT500 and all of its power get absolutely shredded in the US. A car is judged by its merit here. Overseas it's pretty common to see the Vette get ripped. Some points are accurate but most are completely biased.

    • @TheQuebecerInFrance
      @TheQuebecerInFrance Před 10 lety +1

      Or maybe the car is just being judged for what is with any patriotism. Nice to see car reviews done on less than perfect roads.

    • @Dolby109
      @Dolby109 Před 10 lety

      I generally find that most people screaming "BIAS!!!!" are really just letting their own bias get in the way of reasoning. So maybe I am doing the same thing, but I do agree that a lot of European reviews of American cars (Corvette in particular) seem overly harsh.
      This one wasn't too bad, but testing anything built for performance in the cold an wet, let alone on winter tires is not really going to give a true impression. And also I'm not exactly sure what he was getting with the brakes. I've never heard anyone else say the same. Perhaps his problem was ABS kicking in sometimes and not others?

    • @deebee68
      @deebee68 Před 10 lety +2

      In my opinion international cars are judged for what they are in the States. I believe there is a genuine bias when it comes to the Vette in Europe. I'm a fan of most cars. I'm passionate predominately with Japanese cars so there is no bias on my part. I call it like I see it. The Vette is and has been the best bang for any form of currency. There's nothing on the market that can compete with it for the money and then some.
      And when you break it look at the difference in cost to repair it.
      There's not a European car that can compare and when the ZO6 comes out You'll be hard pressed to want to spend 10 to 100s of thousands more to get outperformed by the ZO6.
      Nissan is going to have to go back to the drawing board for the GTR when that car hits the streets.

      I actually test drove the last model of one of these when deciding weather to get a carrera 2s, it drove great and if it were just a track car it probably wouldve taken my money. but to be honest its unfair to compare it to a 911. its just not in the same league really in terms of transmission or build quality or just feeling of solidity. and the price is indicative of this. not to mention you have to realise in europe these cars look really very vulgar and in the end i felt very embarrassed to be driving it.
      also they are very different target markets. if you ever get the chance to test drive a 911 you should really try it you wil see what we are all on about

    Love the Corvette, and also love European cars, especially Porsche. One difference between the Corvette and those more expensive cars, though, is the fact that you can drive the absolute stink out of it, take it to the track, etc., and not worry about major breakdowns and repairs soaring in the thousands of dollars. It's not a status symbol, but a real driver's car that people aren't afraid of flogging for fear of breaking something and having huge repair bills. It is what it is, one hell of a bargain and a lot of fun to actually drive :)

    This car has been reviewed up and down as amazing, best bang for the buck, something the competition should be concerned about, so much better then the C6, etc...
    Leave it to this guy to come up with something negative... Maybe EVERYONE else is wrong...
    I don't think so. I'll just consider the source.
    I stopped watching midway through the video.
    The Europeans very rarely give the Vette an unbiased review.

    • @bliglum
      @bliglum Před 10 lety +7

      What are you talking about. I heard alot more positive than negative. Especially in the first half of the video. He said it was a great leap forward from the C6, had a sharper and more powerful engine, and an excellent supple chassis. Loved that it had a manual still, good steering, great noise, thought it was great value . Etc. etc...
      The only thing he had to knock about it was that it lacked a bit of precision in the body control for his taste. That's constructive criticism, and I think he's right. As in the videos I've seen of the C7, I've seen the undulations and wiggles over bumps and during braking.

      Ok. theres validity to both systems. If not F1 cars would still have manual shifting. That said IMO a manual makes the driver a direct part of the cars operation, and as thus makes the driver thoroughly part of the experience. Paddles are little more than oldschool automatics with shift levers. by design your not nearly as connected to the experience. the Reason why comapanies have made the switch to paddles is because it reduces cost in warranteed transmitions and clutch damage. Also the in increase in gears from 6 to 7 or soon to come 8 is not desired in terms of fatigue in manual form. lastly theres just tons of lame-drivers that prefer automatics.and thus paddles.

      No power loss or chassis imbalance.
      Clutch life is extended,trans and no over revving engine damage.
      Gm has a website on all features. The Zo6 will have a quick shifting auto with torque converter plus normal manual. Not like the GT3
      PDK only. Trans will be developed in house. It will have 8speeds not seven like the Porsche. The 8 gear for better gas mileage.

      Unless the demand from British and Australian markets dramatically increases, the investment needed for right hand steering retooling is not cost effective. But the rumors I been hearing from some in GM is that they may indeed take a chance and do it in the near future. The C7 was engineered with Europe in mind. I've talked to some engineers that wold love to see that.

    • @RyedaleAirsoft
      @RyedaleAirsoft Před 10 lety

      There isn't high demand for this car in RHD countries because it isn't special enough to be worth driving on what will be the wrong side of the car. Some cars like the McLaren P1 are only LHD (heck McLaren is a UK company) but that's okay because it's a 900hp supercar that can lap the nurburgring in under 7mins. But a Corvette? Considering it's main rival seems to be the Porsche 911, and Porsche make all their cars (except the 918) in RHD too. Even the new Mustang will be RHD. I would love to own a C7 one day. But if I had to choose between a LHD C7, and a RHD 911, well....

    • @MrDariolett
      @MrDariolett Před 10 lety

      They are only rumors and in the automotive industry rumors, tend to take a life of their own and the only reason worth mentioning this one is that unlike all other Corvettes, the C7 CO6 is a better automobile than any previous Corvette ever built. Many in the rest of the world may say that that's not saying a whole lot and I would be one of those myself. If we take into account that the C7 is only on it's first year of production then we are left to wonder what kind of performance is in store in let's say, five years of refinement. A RHD C7 is not in the future, but a real world class sports car, yes.

I say "starting" because it's not quite there yet...BUT this is a quantum leap better than the outgoing model by far. And that interior is finally starting to look the part too. Although those red accents are pretty funky, especially in the middle where the right accent doesn't really flow into the dash well. But I suppose this is the best GM can do, and it seems they found a better team for this project.
