- The Chevrolet Corvette has been America's true sports car since 1953. The C7 is the last of the front engine Corvettes. Under the hood is a 6.2L V8 that is pumping out 455HP & mated to a 7-speed gearbox. It's exterior has the classic Corvette lines. On the inside everything is driver focused and the fit and finish was really raised for the C7 generation. Is a 2016 C7 Corvette Stingray the BEST used sports car for under $40k?

@@matt33876 Yep these people are insane. The car in this video has 15k miles for 39K. That same car today would go for 55K+. Almost the price of a brand new Corvette!! Lol!!! So upsetting. I wish we’d have a glimmer of light as to when the market will crash, but as of right now I don’t see it happening anytime soon. :/
I'm guilty of the "need at least the Z06" mentality, but you are right: the C7 Stingray puts up impressive numbers that still exceeds many new performance cars sold today.
Thats why you can always supercharge or even turbo charge these engines!
i was the same way, waited some extra months to afford the z06, its such a different beast than the stingray, to me it was entirely worth the extra 15k ish

@@buddybestor that is the point of my comment. Some people will never experience owning a Corvette because they are "holding off" for the Z06 when they can get a very good package with a Stingray.

its slowly going down again. By next year def under 40 for a 2014, specially with gas prices rn. I mean tbh it's worth it
the only one i found was 46k, and it is actually not that bad

Vette Stingray is STUNNING!!!!! WOW!!!! LOVE IT!!! I have no other words to describe, A complete package - Awesome design, adequate room space and the ROARING sound when shifting gears gives me GOOSEBUMPS!!!

Funny how one year can change so much. There’s no way you can find a C7 Corvette on the market now for under $40k unless it’s salvage title or it has over a 100k miles on it.

I like how in the C7 Corvette they put the quad exhaust right snag dab in the center. Frankly I think it looks a bit more appealing than the exhaust setup in the C8 Corvette.

I know there are many reviews on CZcams and actually going out and doing it yourself is the most important. But if you did it I think it would get a lot of attention especially how well you speak and instruct us all about cars you review. Just an idea! :)

Hey Joe, I agree, I had a 1988 Z51 corvette with the L98. It was not a great performer, although it was torquey, but the engine looked great. I also had a 1991 ZR-1 which had the beautiful LT5. Mine was powder coated and looked awesome. I don't like all the plastic on the power plants these days. I own a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V, and although it's a great engine, it's hidden under plastic blah... Thanks for the vlog!

@@rianalee3138 Definitely go out there and test-drive one when you consider buying ;) I have mine for 2yrs. now and went on vacation to Italy a couple of times (I live in Germany), it's pretty versatile for a sports car, looks and sounds amazing obviously, very reasonable maintenance cost and very solid technique. Also the reception is great, only positive feedback. It's been a great journey.

With the used car market the way it is now, this car is 55k-60k. Just one year ago it was around 40k. Unreal man

Rented a C7 this past January when my so and I went to the Super Bowl. I’ve been driving since 1970 and never driven a Corvette. What’s up with that? What a blast! Didn’t handle like my GT350 but still a great, great car. Huge bang for buck.

I never thought that I would be a Corvette fan and only wanted a European exotic. I bought a 2019 GS with the manual, and it's a blast. I daily drive it and also have done track days with it. The Corvette is a great, usable sports car. I love the targa top. Agree that you really do only need a Stingray unless you're looking for bragging rights.

Yup! I had the base stingray and ND miata in my garage as my fun cars. Not to mention a cam/headers package makes it get close to Z06 power. A manual or auto stingray is A LOT of car for less than 40K. Ferris bueller quote "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

My 2017 Stingray with a manual gets 17 city / 39 fwy. awesome for 460 hp and 465 lbs torque and 3.8 seconds 0-60mph. A freebie removable roof and the upgraded NPP exhaust to hear that V8 roar.
I ride on lighter nonrunflat Michelin Pilot 4S for more responsiveness (accelerating, agility, braking, +10 wheel hp/torque) and wider rear 295 instead of stock 285.

*i bought my used corvette stingray 3LT about 5 months ago with 31k miles on it. Price was at $38k but after registration and license and tab fee it's $42k out the door the price. it have an aftermarket supercharger in it already and with a lot of aftermarket carbon fiber parts on the car too, the side mirrors is in carbon fiber and windows is tinted already. it was a steal especially for the supercharger since i didn't have to waste $5k for a supercharger kit plus the time to install it and because the price of the corvette was base on the resale value so i basically got that supercharger for free and a faster stingray and since its a manual i can hear the By Pass Valve releasing air sounding like a jet engine when the car is not in boost.*

not sure if you mentioned another cool thing with the manual c7s, there's a no lift shift when you're in sport or track mode. You just mash the throttle and stab the clutch when you shift without ever letting off the gas pedal, it's an amazing feature

I love Vettes. I grew up in them on the streets of Boston. If I was to buy a third car a Corvette would be it. I just need a bigger garage.
That is a deal. I bought a white 16 Stingray a year ago. I paid just over $40k with less than 10k miles. $38-39k is a great deal for a manual trans with a transparent roof option, exhaust and only 15k miles. I always see the armrest worn out on the used ones. They are great for the price. I prefer the standard Stingray brakes because they stop as well as the Grand Sport but you wont have to spend a fortune when you have to replace the pads and rotors.

holy shit that behind the screen thing is badass. I used to have a mustang convertible and it was hard to leave the top down when you go in the store because people could just walk by and grab shit out of your car. With that feature you could hide stuff behind the screen and i'm assuming the key is needed to get in, very nice.

I thought the C7 was over the top, till the C8 came along. The C6 was simple and somewhat under the radar, with plenty of power and brilliant handling. But because of the C6's age, l'd probably seriously consider this beauty at $40k.👍
My C3 had a 4-speed. My 4th Gen Z28 has a 6-speed. I want that Vette!

That transparent top option is over $2k from GM and has just been discontinued as well.
Ahhhh the TPI motors did have the wow factor in how they looked, that a bunch of low end torque, that's about it. Used to have an 89 gta with the L98 and t-tops. Miss that car sometimes.........

I bought a 17' Z51 car and added a Magnuson supercharger a few minor body mods...got 750 plus to the wheels. I'm still under 50K...barely. Worth every penny.

Holly heck there are so many trims and versions etc. I did see a guy buy a cheaper base version and swap- convert it into a ZR1. a lot of work but very doable because the base is similar shape and size. Still cost him less than buying a brand new or even used higher end trim Corvette. Forget the C8 generation, good grief did the price sky rocket from there.

I just bought a new, identical (minus red caliper option) for only 10 grand more. I absolutely love it and came from a 17 Mustang GT. It rides so much smoother then I ever thought it would. A bit high on the road noise would be my only complaint but it's a low to the ground sports car so that's to be expected.
They apparently had the dash mode set to track always cause it didn't change when you changed the modes. Also that's not stock exhaust apparently.
