I think the Aldean controversy is ... imagine a photo of a lynching and the song essentially saying "this is what happens to black people in a small town." Not their intention I'm sure.

Here’s my take about the Aldean controversy… basically his music video features some real footage of the protests and riots after the death of George Floyd and coupling that with the lyrics and that specific courthouse gives a very strong sense that he’s saying this in a response to the BLM movement because that is a very common rhetoric that was said during those protests by small towns that were notorious for having a racist history ( like sundown towns, lynchings etc.) when contextualizing all of this it’s basically like him saying (whether this was his honest intention or not) if these riots or behavior happened in small towns and not cities the people here would take matters into their own hands and deal with it how they see fit rather then allow the law to do its job. Which is exactly what lynchings were used as. Hope that makes sense to why people are upset. For a little historical context the last publicly conceived lynching happened in 1998 (James Boyd Jr) and I honestly believe that lynching is still used to this day and is now modernized to represent itself in the form of police brutality and the unlawful murdering of POC by police. Sorry if this is too political I just though it would help to understand this from the perspective of a POC

Oh Kati! You missed the whole baseball thing. It is like a chess game with players on the field. The managers (at least the good ones) are thinking 3-4 plays ahead, Someday, if we have a moment, I will explain some of those finer points which were pounded into my head by a GREAT baseball coach, my old man. He coached championship teams in Ontario and Québec. I wish you could have met him, you would walk away with a whole new attitude towards baseball.
Extra time in soccer/football is for unexpected delays. The time is added up by the referees for for example injury treatment or other interruptions. Sometimes time is added when a team is intentionally delaying the match. Extra minutes of playtime are added after each half. The referees will keep track of it and the fourth official (on the sideline) will show the board with how many minutes are added. That way the teams and spectators know what’s up.

As a fan, I'm very frustrated with your take on jason aldean. Katie please remember you are coming from a white perspective. Also please actually watch the video and listen and you might understand why people are upset. The lyrics are "try that in a small town, see how far you make it down the road". The video is black lives matter protests and hes in front of a historic place where race riots happened plus a very known lynching of a TEENAGE boy. Sure it "doesn't matter" to you but it matters very much to many black people. And please think about the lyrics "we take care of our own (white people???), see how far you make it down the road (if your black???)". It's not hard to see a threat in that especially tword black people.
It's the mixture of the vaguely threatening lyrics, the video with the black lives matter protests and that courthouse that makes is just horrible.
If miley Cyrus films a Hannah Montana show there guess why no one cares, because shes not filming something political!!

Referring to the people in the town as "good ol' boys" and the promoting gun violence and patriotic crap is all I needed to hear. The whole thing stinks of subtly expressed hate, and if you don't see that... 😳
But then again, you defend trophy hunting, and have expressed disdain toward black people protesting because that is their only effective voice against murdering and oppression of their people, even though damaging protests have been an essential and effective part of heralding change by groups who do not have power throughout history.
