    👉🏻 Vintage Selenium Light Meter: selenium metal has a remarkable property- when exposed to light it will generate a small electric current. This General Electric light meter, made in 1930 with classic Bakelite case, still works and needs no battery. The selenium metal cell is directly connected to an ammeter which is calibrated to read out illuminance in units of footcandles (1 lumin per square foot).
    👉🏻 Mystery Orbiter UFO
    👉🏻 Hoberman Actuator with Sphere
    👉🏻 Laser Fog Light Show: making the invisible visible
    👉🏻 Chil Balance Sculpture: No magnets!
    👉🏻 Mirror Anamorphic Lenticular Cup & Saucer
    👉🏻 Mirror Anamorphosis: this famous print by artist István Orosz has a hidden anamorphic image revealed by placing a mirrored cylinder over the depiction of the moon in the image.
    👉🏻 Sodium Fluorescein
    👉🏻 The Klein Bottle
    👉🏻 Tree and Mushroom Top Set
    👉🏻 Dual Axes Thaumatrope
    👉🏻 3D Print Planetary Gearset: amazingly this gear set is printed assembled, with interlocking herringbone teeth. The gears will not come apart, in fact this design can only be accomplished by 3D printing the gears interlocked with each other. Designed and first printed by Emmett Lalish in 2013, and this version with refined precision and honeycomb by Don Stewart. ➡ Visit physicsfun website to get the .stl files and/or printed versions of this gear set.

    • @zusdokatotengimure3180
      @zusdokatotengimure3180 Před 4 lety +3

      i don't really remember the correct name but it's pretty clear that it's a mix of the rotation from the tiny rings + the area of contact caused by the continuous movement of the iron ring + the gravity itself that keep the tiny rings descending.
      im bad at english.

    • @endermat99-9
      @endermat99-9 Před 4 lety +5

      @@zusdokatotengimure3180 the rotation of the big ring keeps the rings from falling while the gravity keeps them from rising.
      When you spin the rings and start rotating the big one the internal surface of the rings that makes contact with the big one is so longer at the same "point" : this makes the rings staying in the same position and spinning.
      I can't explain it better with words.
      So: there are gravitational force, your force (on the big ring), and the spinning one (centrifugal and centripetal) that makes the rings change point of contact with the big ring.

Geometry was the only thing I was ever any good at in school; I loved it and played with it; in fact I used to try to construct proofs I couldn't prove and I got 100 on the final without studying. I always have a Mobius strip hanging in the bathroom. My father taught me that one. At age 63 I still get out my compass and fool around with it. And angles changed my way of seeing the physical world. I still have to look at buildings over and over. Once I even rented an apartment bc there was a very good factory across the street. I'll shut up now, and I thank anyone who read this.

    the rotation of the big ring keeps the rings from falling while the gravity keeps them from rising.
