    Awesome video Daniel! I did not even think about using opacity for scaling roughness and metallic properties, thank you very much!

    awesome run down dude, I don't use photoshop either, I've used Paint Shop Pro for years. This spec mapping is pretty sweet , I had no idea it was just variations on Pure Green and Pure Reds to get these effects. thanks again!

      Yeah, not sure if it works for paint. It's just the grey shades weren't working for me when I was messing around with it so I was like.. Hmm, I wonder if just solid red and green would work and whalla lol

    if you don’t use single window mode,u can just drag and drop folders from the template to the car paint etc. or from paint to paint

    Trading paints asks for a decal layer after uploading a .mip file. I haven't tried it yet.. but I think it will stamp it over the spec map.

    • @dan1elhalas
      @dan1elhalas  Před 4 lety

      That would make life so much easier. I still haven't tried messing with uploading to trading paints. Spent 4 hrs trying to get this figured out since we dont have all the options that photoshop does. Thanks for the input.

    I have a question. When I saved the first step to, car_spec_(number) I couldn't open it again in gimp, or Trading Paints. Where do I find the MIP file and where do I save it?

    • @dan1elhalas
      @dan1elhalas  Před 4 lety +1

      I saved it on the computer in the specific folder. As a tga file. To my knowledge it has to be a tga file and the iracing program converts it to the mip file. Computer-documents-iracing-paint-caryouwant-export as

    Thanks for the tutorial. Why are the parts layers white, but you used red or green?

    • @dan1elhalas
      @dan1elhalas  Před 3 lety

      I've never dove deep enough into the parts. I've done them with and without showing on the tga upload and never noticed any difference, mainly just worry about the body.

    • @briankennedy9040
      @briankennedy9040 Před 3 lety

      I think I found out that iRacing uses black and white in the templates, but it only uses the one color channel. So white works but I like your method better. Only use the color channel for that layer.

    BTW putting the logos above the layer works...they don't appear as chrome.

      Delete the spec map out of your paint folder.

    My car comes out either matte red or chrome red. Cant change the color of the car to a different color. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

      @@ryanwilson5301 I know this is two years old now, but if anyone ends up here with the same problem (as I did) then you fix it by going into layer attributes (double click on your red square next to Base Paint #1) and change RGB from "perceptual" to "linear". Same for the Green channel.

    I gotta be doing something wrong... cuz my paint doesn't load. it reverts back to the default paint. I don't understand how following directions could give me the wrong result... of course it's now 2021 so there's that.....
