21:26 Funny thing here is that you can tell Kabru is utterly uninterested in orcs because he thinks of them as monsters and asked Laios about their taste just to humor him. I bet the moment he recognizes them as another race of humans (like elves, dwarves, etc), he would be legitimately curious.
He doesn't seem to have any of the common prejudice against demi-humans considering he's fine partying with a kobold, so you're probably right.

Kabru is such an interesting character to me. It really speaks to the writer on how much he understands implicit social situations. At this point, there is absolutely nothing he did that makes you not trust him. The only thing that we noticed that makes us dislike him is that he sounds like he is not showing his real emotions. But for this entire story he has helped cared for and befriended everyone.
He contrast heavily with Laos, a guy who shows his emotions despite how it might be misinterpreted. High social awareness vs no social awareness.
She... the author is female, but yeah each of the parties in the series are well written, laios and kabru are made to be mirrors to one another, both in manner and how they're designed.
Also known as, the ability to be fluidly two-faced vs the inability for such.
Kabru actually has earned distrust, I would say. He is flexible in dealing with people but utterly inflexible in his way of thinking, ie, he is going with the flow in conversation with Laios, making him talk so he can learn, but he knows everything about everyone's business (knowledge is power), he killed the corpse collectors and deliberately sank them into the water where they would be eaten and never found, and he dismisses the very idea of doing anything other than killing the orcs out of hand. Now he has dirt on Laios, and he's giddy about it. Oh, and he fully intends to conquer the dungeon *and* take over the island, ousting the current lord. And when a man can scare one of his companions so bad with a glance, that speaks volumes to me.
@@merlinsmusings yeah kabru's not EVIL, but he's not a totally good person. he has his own biases and prejudices, and seems to be a petty bitch who's giddy about having something to actually dislike about laios.

one thing we haven't seen or been told though is how Falin feels. We only know Shuro likes her and wants to propose to her but we haven't seen flashbacks of either of them together.
Funny thing is Shuro isn't his real name. That's just what Laios heard, and Shuro rolled with it cause he is too restrained/shy to correct him.
Maybe it's rude of me to say it on this particular comment, but god everything I learn about Shuro makes me hate him more
@@andrewstephenson5825| Don't be so harsh on Shuro. He grew up in the upper-class of an _extremely_ repressive society. For context, he fell in love with Falin because he secretly shares her fascination with insects, but had been taught that expressing any unusual interests was improper.

It sucks that that happened to him, truly I wouldn't wish having to live that way upon my worst enemy, but that doesn't not excuse his behavior, nor does it invalidate how Laios and Shuro's confrontation made me feel. As for Shuro and Falin, if this is the case with Shuro's status and culture, I can only hope she has enough good sense to turn down his proposal. That's no way for anyone to live.
@@andrewstephenson5825 | Hey, I getcha. I'm on the same spectrum and felt the same exact way when Shuro confronted Laios, but hating the fellow for having extremely basic, extremely human flaws is unfair.
Remember, he didn't snap at Laios until he was exhausted, half-starved, and had just witnessed the woman he loved murder the woman who raised him. Then, after he'd cooled off from their fight, he immediately offered to let Laios crash at his place to hide from the fantasy cops. In other words: he doesn't ACTUALLY hate Laios. He was just hurting, and lashed out.
Hell, some bonus material directly states if Laios was female and Falin was male, Shuro would've fallen in love with Laios.
Feelings are complicated. People are complicated. Both Laios and Shuro are good people, and could've been great friends. They simply failed to connect due to external circumstances.
It's not really a spoiler because it's only mentioned in manga's bonus chapters, but the woman who basically raised Shuro is also his father's mistress. Shuro was quite upset when he found that out, as you may imagine

Yeah, in episode 9 Namari directly said that Shuro liked Falin enough to propose so he was probably looking for her or something along those lines. That dude didn't know what he was talking about, but decided to start yapping all the same...

Just to add to the affirmation: they absolutely stated outright with no subtleties whatsoever that Shuro is in love with Falin. It doesn't get more un-subtle.

So, as an autistic person, I want to point out that how Kabru acts at 20:13 is literally my greatest fear. Or rather, that everyone I know is acting that way. Maybe not purposely to be manipulative, but even just to be polite. Laios is oversharing in this scene, or at least sharing details about the thing he's interested in that others find weird and offputting (Laios loves everything about monsters, up to and including how they taste, which everyone else in the series except Senshi sees as disgusting). And how Kabru responds is what my insecurities insist "normal" people always do when I overshare. Politely try and pretend they're unbothered while secretly wishing I would just shut up. Don't get me wrong, I still really like Kabru as a character, but this scene and similar ones like it have always made me very uncomfortable.

It's impossible for me to know if the person I'm talking to is really interested or if they're just being polite and I'm bothering them.
@@JavoZier The easiest way to know is to see if you're the only person talking. If you've been talking for half an hour with hardly any response other than "I see", "Interesting" or a "Hmm", you're probably overdoing it. If someone excuses themselves to the bathroom it's also a polite way of cutting off the rambling so don't continue about that subject when they come back unless they ask for it. One way to gauge the situation is to veer slightly off the main topic and see if they become more engaged in the conversation. Another way is to ask for their opinion on something that you're talking about and if they have a hard time answering, it'll probably indicate that they're not very interested. If you find that you're constantly veering off topic from what you want to talk about probably means the other person is trying to steer the conversation in another direction.
I was taking a walk with a friend while we smoked some weed and he talked at me for 2 hours about wargame and TTRPG rules (not an interest of mine). At the time he was trying to get a diagnosis, but that whole thing confirmed it for me. It was a bit awkward but also a little funny because I was high and didn't really know what to say at the time and at some point he had been going on for so long that I became fascinated by how oblivious he was. I didn't really mind in the end because it is how he is and I think he enjoyed talking to someone about it. It was also his weed so the least I could do was to listen to the man talk. I don't think your friends and family care that much if you get a little carried away sometimes because they like you for you and everyone comes with annoying character traits. Some of the best conversations I've had were with the same guy when our interests were aligned. Strangers on the other hand will probably signal in the ways mentioned above. The worst thing to do is to follow someone who just up and leaves and try to keep talking. That'll really peeve people. I've worked with some of those types before where you're trying to work and they just follow you around while talking at you and it's equally baffling and annoying. Especially when they follow you to the bathroom and keep talking to you through the stall door.
Same fear here, but idk if I'm on the spectrum or not. That's why whenever I sense someone is oversharing, I don't put up a front. Good thing is though that I'm interested in a lot of things.
I almost have this same worry, except instead of oversharing im always too worried and will instead under-share, because i also don't want to explain things to anyone if they're not interested, which leads me into not talking much about stuff

I just want to point out she called that Falin was gonna turn into a chicken or something. I don’t remember the actual quote but I remember getting annoyed Alicia called another stupid thing AGAIN. I think it was two or three episodes back. Also that anime was Overlord and that should be the next anime to watch.

Sorry Alicia even a fantastic writer like Ryoko Kui can't fit "giving a fuck about your master" and "being a cat" into the same character.
In the manga side stories its mentioned that Shuro out right proposed to Falin. But since he was new to the party and the two had never dated or really spoke to each other Falin was a bit taken aback by the out of no-where proposal.
But she was a bit worried about her own marriage prospects as she is an adventurer who was cast out of her own village by her own father and had 'strange' ghost magic that she didn't refuse the proposal. She just didn't accept and asked Shuro to hold off until they could get to know each other better.
And then she was eaten by a dragon.
24:26 well, as you'll come to find out "Asebi" has fairly good reasons to NOT give a f about her master and her modus operandi is throwing a wrench in the gears at every opportunity.
She is also one of my favorite characters in this series.

i definitely recommend watching Overlord (the anime at the end), its grusome with some comedy and some black comedy and the openings are kick ass
What makes Chilchuck's decision funnier is that compared to Laios, Senshi doesn't really lean on the fact he's cooking monsters. He treats them like anyone else would treat animals and ingredients. So when he and the lady were talking it was about cooking because *cooking is Senshi's passion, it's Laios who's excited about the monster stuff.*

He would be the one having an affair because he is married not because of status. Affair and adultery are terms relating to marriage so only someone married can have an affair/commit adultery.
She wouldn’t technically be having an affair because as far as I have heard she isn’t married. She would still be an accomplice to/complicit in the affair. There would be any number of terms for her homewrecker, side chick, mistress, etc. but as it relates to affair the more accurate term would probably be Fornicator because that just means sex between people who aren’t married.

Edit: that anime that was auto recommended to you is Overlord. Basically an Edgy RP guild leader got isekai-ed as his character, complete with the entire guild hall, and now he's playing more like Civilizaiton with kingdom building.
Imagine thinking shuro doesn't like falin even after Namari's like "dude totally has a crush on falin". Like, what kind of media blindness ass (or whatever the terms is I forgot) completely misses the fact that shuro's whole thing is he cares more about falin than literally anyone else to the point of stupidity, and even outright miss a character, explicitly, in no unceertain terms, saying outloud to everyone "shuro wants to kiss falin" and just....still thinking shuro's feelings are purely platonic.

Does any one know why the heck Falin turned into a chicken? Why is she so feathery? Did the ancestral bird genes of the dragon somehow show up during the transformation or something? Is this a spoiler? If so I don't wanna know, but I'm so confused....WHY IS SHE A GIANT CHICKEN?

The feet are the same as the original Red Dragon, so it looks like the Mad Mage just introduced a new monster into the mix. My guess is a harpy, since harpies are birds with the faces of women so it's something a Mad Mage would think of. But it could also be something else, like a cherub, griffon, or hippogriff.
I got some guesses about that. Maybe the mage just wants a mom. Birds tend to have lil brood patches on their front to keep the babies warm. Feathers could also help with temperature regulation. Since I'm not 100 percent sure she even has a flame sac or can use it the way the dragon could.
