    I own a 2018 XD King Cab and my decision to buy it was the 2,500 lb payload. I tow a 38’ Keystone Outback that is nose heavy at 1,400 lbs. I now have almost 50,000 miles on the XD and have had zero issues with it. The most underrated truck in the market.

    Titan is absolutely the most underrated truck on the market and sadly will probably be discontinued. I actually blame the consumers who ignorance on this truck and also believing that buying one of the big 2 was actually helping America. Yes I said big 2 because Ram is a foreign owned brand and is absolutely not an American company.
    Titan and Tundra have just as much if not more American made content then any other brand truck.

    I am considering a 1/2 ton truck and I am not loyal to any brand and I think they all make good trucks. I want a truck to tow a small camper (3,500 lb GVWR); however, I may get a larger camper with a 7,000 lb GVWR at some point. I would like a truck with about an 11,000 pound tow capacity. Equally important, I would like a truck that has at least 1,800 to 2,000 lbs of payload so that I have the capacity for a topper and a bed slide to carry camping gear for full-time living on the road. Many 1/2 tons are low on payload given my needs. I think the Titan XD would be an excellent choice. My only reservation is its size! But, that is the price given the capabilities that I want. Ben, another great video!

    • @7thkev519
      @7thkev519 Před 2 lety +4

      Not worth it the titan XD is a weak ass HD truck the big 3 have almost identical payload as the Nissan Titan XD but the f-150 has 3,000 pounds of payload. Ram 2500 with the 6.4 or a F-250 with the 7.3 is a better choice for you and both will outperform the Nissan Titan XD in capabilities by a huge margin.

    • @arod7130
      @arod7130 Před 2 lety +2

      You can definitely achieve that payload range and more in a half ton. Example some F-150 supercrews in ford forums can get north of 2,600 while mine only is 1,500. What will boil down to is the trim and amenities that will take a hit on payload. That’s where I messed up lol
      As far as the Titan XD… ehhhh. I think there’s newer options/ better options at this point.

      To the op, the XD will do fine for your application, if your hesitant, get a 3/4 ton ram with gas engine.
      Also remember, the 5 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on the Titan and XD.
      No other truck is even close on that.

      @deanmay338 Před 2 lety

      @@7thkev519 agreed that the Big 3 have more capable gasers than the Nissan, but I don’t need that much capability. We currently have a Casita 17 Freedom Deluxe camper that weighs 2,900 lbs (loaded). The largest camper we will ever own is 24 feet long and has a GVWR of 7,000 lbs. I don’t need a full blown 3/4 ton truck. The Nissan would be more than enough. However, that Ford F-250 Tremor with the 7.3L Godzilla V8 would be sweet!

    • @deanmay338
      @deanmay338 Před 2 lety

      @@arod7130 I do not need a fancy trim level truck. In terms of the Ford, I would opt for an XL with the STX package. I also don’t need/want the SuperCrew cab. I am fine with the SuperCab. I want a 6’ truck bed for camping gear. Despite liking V8s, I am impressed with the Ford F-150 PowerBoost with the Pro Power 7.2kw on-board generator. I would be interested in comparing the payload of the XL V8 vs. the XL PowerBoost with the Pro Power 7.2 kw generator. I don’t think the PowerBoost engine is currently available in the SuperCab, though. I am hoping the PowerBoost and Pro Power options will be more available across the F-150 line in 2023. I also like the new Tundra, but payload will be less on the Toyota than the Ford.

And once I spent about 2k to get rid of all the emissions garbage that had me in the shop every 2 months, it screams like I never would have imagined and feels like a Mustang GT on the highway. We have a ‘17 F-150 SCREW short bed and it’s horrible pulling our 30’ TT. Even with tons of mods the truck sways like crazy in the wind. We’ve been looking at 3/4 ton diesels but this truck looks like a great middle ground.

    • @spankymagee
      @spankymagee Před 2 lety +5

      @@jjsemperfi yeah and I learned that the hard way too with a 2012 F150 to pull this camper. Thats why I bought this truck. Its not about how much power or springs you have.....its about How Heavy is the truck pulling said trailer. Because the huge size of those campers puts so much wind resistance on them that you need something a couple thousand more pounds to hold it down. Power and enhancements are great, but it all comes down to the weight. And the length of a truck plays a big role too.
      My f150 had enough power but was roughly 5500 lbs I think. This beast is about 7800, so it won't let that trailer have nearly the effect on your drive. Plus it can hold about 1500 lbs more on the truck itself than the F150 so you can have a bunch of other stuff in the bed making it more stable of a ride with just the truck weight being over 10k lbs. Shorter trucks like what you have compounds that trouble trouble too. That trailer has more leverage on your short truck than one like this which is I want to say at least 18" longer than my Ford crew was. I never drove my Ford over 60 mph when I was pulling because yeah, it threw it around and my knuckles were clenching hard. So we only camped close to home for the first couple of months until I got this one. I honestly don't feel much different with or without the 9800 pound trailer behind me with this one, other than the muffler is much louder and the fuel stations want me to come on by twice as much as usual.

    Nissan should scrap the titan xd and just make a Titan XD package (payload and towing increases) for the regular Titan. This would be a smarter move.
    Edit: my point was to say that if Nissan could make some changes to make their trucks more competitive, such as the ones I listed to create an XD heavy duty towing/payload package, and yes I know about the dimensional differences of frames between the two titans, then they would drive interest/sales/profits then discontinue the XD truck, this saving cost. The big 3 have packages like this especially Ford. It would suit Nissan well. I also think they should kinda make the titan like a Frankenstein truck, even more so since they are behind in releases and updates, taking ideas and success from others and adding them into one truck.

      @HalfShell yes but for those who don't need the capabilities of a 3/4 ton but want the stability without the rough ride it fits the bill quite well. Ive towed my 9k enclosed trailer with my XD, an F150 and a Tundra and there is absolutely no comparison whem it comes to stability and braking performance, especially when its windy. For those of us who tow on the heavier side but don't need a 3/4 ton this XD beats a half ton everytime when it comes to handling the weight better. Sure, you can spec an f150 to tow more if you get a stripped down base model single cab 2wd XL model with no options with the max tow package, but it still dpesnt habe the stability of an XD. If they didn't have an XD I'd definitely be in a 3/4 ton. But that XD will last longer tlwing heavy than any half ton because the frame and other components come straight from a 3/4 ton van. Honestly that truck is rated well below what it could really handle. I think Nissan under rated it so it wouldn't be compared to the 3/4 tons from the big 3 because theres no way it wpuld compete with the capabilities of them. For my needs the XD fits perfectly.

I love my Titan, but you compare my 2017 XD SV diesel with My brothers f-250 Mid range truck and he has Autolocking doors, push button unlock, automatic lights, back up camera, backup sensors. Look at the Sema Builds for Nissan, Carbon fiber trim, Plastic highlights in the interior that are Red/orange, Really Carbon Fiber, stupid lighting accents? That went out of style like 8 years ago, if you are going to light the wheel wells make sure they are actual usable rock lights not some stupid embedded led that barely lights up the wheel well, and the colored highlights, didn't Toyota try that on the Tacomas for what 1 or 2 years. And, for fucks sake make some actual usable skid plates for the XD. You want me to buy a Pro 4x, which you try to compare to something like a raptor, and then I have to hope that those crappy paper thin skid plates protect my truck. No Thanks. You have a good looking truck with bad tech choices, no after market deals or interest, and nothing to set it apart from the other brands. Why would any one buy your vehicle over an f-150/250, Tundra, Silverado 1500, Ram 1500/2500? My XD good looking, it could use better MPG but that can be said for most 4x4 full size trucks, but it lacks in basic tech and noone has ever said, I am going to make a crawler or a mud truck or an overlander, I think I will get a Nissan, because unless you are buying off the shelf one size fits all products, there is nothing available for it. Nissan XD's make good Mall Crawlers, throw some huge useless wheels and a non-existant tire on them a monster useless lift, a shitload of useless lights, paint match and you are ready to cruise the streets and malls in your area

    I have a Titan XD 2018 engine was replaced at 25K and new motor now at 29K is making a lot of noise and timing is bad. Nissan said that if check engine light is not lit then nothing is wrong with it.
    Waiting for lemon law to make them buy it back. Nissan dealers are horrible. Don't Buy one!

      I bought a 2021 Titan Platinum Reserve 4x4 in April, now have 7000 miles and averaging 18-19 mpg. That’s great for a V8. Does good off road , smooth on road. Built well.

      Hey Big your ignorance is showing ..
      Nissan is made in America ...
      Ford's are complete POS ..
      Many Silverados are made in Mexico and Rams is a foreign company.
      Get your facts straight lol.

    Well with what Toyota has just created in the new tundra every other full-size pickup truck will be obsolete and the Toyota's will have a waiting list with down payments.

    If you have to ask the question, the answer must be "No". When Nissan dropped the Cummins turbo-diesel, the XD became irrelevant. That was the only reason Carlos G. created it. Now he is an international criminal. Great move, Nissan.
