The 2022 Nissan Titan XD S is the Most Overlooked Heavy Duty Truck on the Market!

  • For the money these are selling for (mid-$40k) you just can't beat the crew cab 4x4 version of the Titan XD in "S" trim. It's a true shame that so many guys overlook these trucks, and Nissan may pull the plug on these soon. #nissantitan #titanxd #trucks

    The fact the word “inexpensive” is used on a 50k truck, blows my mind.

    It is a 3/4 ton truck per GVWR which is what determines classifications, its a class 2b truck, aka 2500, aka 3/4 ton. 👍

    According to the Highway Administration, the Titan XD is considered a 3/4 ton truck based on is GVWR.

    I have a 2018 s xd with the cummins. Really a good truck. I got mine, 4 door, 4wheel drive just under $40k. Sad the cummins went bye bye, and the aisin transmision is awesome. Same manufacture as Toyota.

    I want that because it has a front bench, column selector, 6ft bed at least, sliding rear window that I can pass through it I put a camper shell on it. Then I’ll live in it!!!

    Nice review! I agree with you 100% on this truck. I could live with this truck. 95% of the stuff people think they "need" they don't. I want a truck to be a truck! I adjust the mirrors how many times? Yup... Once. Plus... that MPG is low because the computer is still averaging all that idle time and around town stuff. It's fine for a big truck like this. Highly underrated "simple" truck that makes me sad that it's stopping production. I'd take one in a second.

    I have a 21 pro4x with luxury package. I tried to get the sv xd but my wife didn't like it so we went with pro4x. They are amazing trucks. This is my 4th nissan 2nd titan and in 2024 b4 they stop making them im gonna look at getting a new xd. FYI the rear seat u have to push in and then pull the lever to get the seat down.

    I'm in the market for the first time in 10 years and the prices are astonishing. I've zeroed in on a late model 2020-2022 low mile Nissan Titan. The new Fords are great but this is darn close for a lot less money. At 51 years old I'm far more interested in not being played for a chump than looking cool.

    Thanks for the video! For me it always comes back to reliability. Ever since Renault got their fingers in the pie, Nissan quality seems spotty at best. The Titan's reliability has been disappointing. The shining star in Nissan's stable was the Frontier...that truck has had a near bulletproof track record because it was "the old Nissan" (a good thing). The recent recall of all 2022 Frontiers for a transmission issue isn't a great start. I genuinely like Nissan but their roller coaster reliability record is a real sore spot.

    • @elonsus9747
      @elonsus9747 Před rokem

      The recall is for the parking pawl and not the transmission itself thankfully. I will agree the Frontier was and still is the shining star in Nissans lineup even compared to the Titan. The Frontier is using basically the same chassis albeit modified slightly for better NVH. The 3.8 V6 is essentially the old 4.0 but more refined with DI. I have a 22 and I love it.

  • @duncdunc76

    Huh, 15 mpg is what my 2008 Nissan Frontier is averaging these days with its 33" tires 2" lift and 382,000 miles on the odo lol. I do like that S trim Titan, but I agree just about everyone would want power mirrors. And heated mirrors would be some nice icing on the cake. My guess as to why the S trim doesn't have power mirrors is that they're much cheaper to replace when it's a work truck. You know those mirrors are getting torn off when guys are out their working hard and maybe occasionally working a little to fast lol.

  • @przemeksledziewski1973
    @przemeksledziewski1973 Před 2 lety +1

    One thing I always appreciated about every nissan I've owned or driven is that there is no obnoxious chime or sound forcing you to wear a seat belt. This makes a huge difference when driving and not being annoyed to death to buckle up.
    Is this still true in the case of this titan xd and the new frontier? Also, is the tailgate dampened? If so that's another positive.
    More things I like is that even the lowest trim of the xd, the S has a rear fold down arm rest and a rear sliding power window, provided you get the crew cab version. Other manufacturers seem reluctant to include that on their basic work trucks. Little things that make a significant difference.
    Not sure why the lack of power mirrors bothers so many people. Just set them once and forget it. I'd be more bothered that the S doesn't have big tow mirrors or heated mirrors.

    Great truck but it’s a 1/2 ton truck. A heavy half ton.
    It has 6 lug wheels and a semi floating axle. A true HD has 8 lugs and a full floater.
    Also pretty sure all SV’s have 18 inch alloy wheels.
    Add-in power mirrors, remote start, rear power outlets and rear climate vents a few other things and that’s where the extra 5k goes.
    Love my 13 Titan.

    • @4-LOW
      @4-LOW  Před 2 lety

      So we're rating trucks based upon axle hub design rather than by how much weight they are rated to haul and tow? And the SV next to this one on the lot had the exact same steel wheels. The differences were extremely minor inside and out.

    • @AB-coyote
      @AB-coyote Před 2 lety +1

      @@4-LOW I know the truck will perform but YES true HD trucks have 8 lug wheels and full floating axles. The semi float won’t hold up as well if used To the max every single day. Yes the base model XD has a high payload but it’s towing on paper is still below the true Gas HD trucks that have in excess of 15,000 lbs of towing In some configurations.
      The frame is definitely HD. It’s straight from Nissans now discontinued 3500 NV van. That NV van did have a full floating axle and 8 lug wheels.

    I had a 21 Pro-4x (non xd). I loved it a lot until I got my 2022 Tundra. It made my Pro-4x seem boring and old school. Titans are great trucks, but they don't have many options at all..Sad that they will be gone next year. It's a very underated truck

    • @CarsTechWood
      @CarsTechWood Před rokem +1

      I’m curious what made the tundra so much better?

    • @TheZiggZaggShow
      @TheZiggZaggShow Před rokem

      @@CarsTechWood IMO, The Titan really has a lot of potential if designed a little better because it's a great truck that needed just a little bit more to accommodate it. Owning both Titan and Tundra in MY comparison, The Tundra has more interior space, but lacks interior storage like the Titan. The Tundra has better safety functions that react more effectively. The Titan also have good safety functions, but are more of a old school tech scale. Although the Titan has a naturally aspirated V8, The Tundra's TTV6 /10 speed Trans. setup outperforms it in Tourge, HP, speed, and Towing. The infotainment in the Tundra, although behind a little on the big 3, is light-years ahead of the Titan. The Tundra is way more fun to drive and it keeps you on your toes. The Titan is a great truck, but gets boring really quick. Fuel mileage on both are close, so no comparison there. Now please understand that Both are great trucks, but this is just my opinion. Many others may think differently. But that's why we all have choices
