Your comments about the oil hole in the gasket brought back a memory. We were investigating stuck valves on the engine of one of our old tractors. When we took the valve train apart, we discovered that two of the supports had been swapped, blocking off the passage that supplied oil to the rockers...

You win the scary-ass huge weight overhead prize dude. Worst I had was a 1500 pound power grid rated current transformer over my head supported by a forklift, also fastened to our 5 ton crane in case the forklift let go. And it was not an enclosed space but gravity works faster than I can duck. But we also have a ladder down into a 16 foot deep pit that has plenty of room to walk around the scaffolding supporting steel tank holding 5 tons of transformer oil. We put power transformer bushings in there for electrical tests, walking around 4 huge steep plates that if they ever do let go it's a sudden drop and it's not the fall that hurts, its the landing. Love my job!

You being under the turbine reminds me of when i'm waay too far up in a dead tree and rigging off of it.

the width of the gasket between the oil tube hole and the outer circumference seems unreasonably narrow. at least hopefully that oil tube hole gets filled with a copper or brass press fit nipple so there's not a lot of oil pressure there. hopefully you maximized the surface area of the gasket. love the view of the access!

I used to do this sort of work. Never enjoyed the confined space thing, tank mixers, distributers and stuff like you have there. Not fun, but I always figured, 2 tons or 200 tons, it's all pretty disconcerting. I frequently put my own safety gear on, and rarely had any of my customers object, in fact, they usually would do the backup rigging any I wanted.
Kudos for filming it. The install will have you in there for a while. After the 1st hour or so, you start to forget where you are.

Could be worse, you could have been like me, swinging up attached to a crane, driven by GI Joe, and holding in the one hand the air drill, in the other the pack of safety signs, and with one pocket filled with pop rivets, the drill chuck key and 5 spare 5mm drill bits. The other pocket with the rivet gun in it. going to to replace safety signs, and yes I was doing it safely, I brought in my safety harness (actually my fathers, seeing as he was the one who used to do inspection up top of structures) to use, instead of what GI Joe wanted, which was to use a sling alone.
You can bet that as soon as i was up there by the old signage, I attached myself to the steel frame fast, then started to do the drill, drop the remains down, and replace the signs with new intact ones. Good thing the wind was not blowing too much, and the breeze did help a lot with the heat.

No danger of it falling but my confined space fun time was hella fun...back when I was like 70 pounds lighter and in the Navy, my job was to wiggle my skinny ass into the maybe 8 inch gap between the bottom of one of the ship's generators and the big oil sump beneath it and mop up the oil. Big mofo Detroit 16V149TIB engine and I think a 1MW generator on the spinny end of it. Being a Detroit there was always oil.
