This hit the top of the charts in the 70s when it dropped. This was the return of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons after a dry spell in their career as a group. They were doing falsetto long before the Bee Gees. "Who Loves You" is another banger of this period.

The Four Freshman, The Platters, Little Anthony, The Beachboys, and a few others had hits before or at the same time as Frankie/Four seasons. Falsetto was very popular before Frankie.
Oh What a Night hit the top 10 in the early 90s again as a dance song.

I always interpreted the song as being about a young man losing his virginity to a prostitute. This would explain why (1) he didn't know her name, (2) he got the butterflies as soon as she walked in, and (3) it was over almost as soon as it started.

The guy with the headphones to his ear is Frankie Valli, there is a great movie about him and the band called Jersey Boys, definitely worth watching. Frankie was also in a bunch of episodes of the Sopranos later in his career.

This song is the perfect combination of Doo Wop and disco. During the 1970s, there was a lot of nostalgia for all things from the Doo Wop era (roughly 1955-1963). Frankie Valli and the 4 seasons came out of the Doo Wop era but had a resurgence in the 1970s. And this song combines both aesthetics.
Frankie Valli is on the very short list of greatest vocalists ever. Outstanding voice.
I agree but he not really featured as he only sings the chorus on this song. I always thought he sang the high vocals on this song until I saw this video a few years ago.

No guys it's not love at first sight, it's hooking up at first sight. It was a one-time thing that changed his life. Sometimes those are the best encounters, magical encounters back in the 1960s. This song has nothing to do with a relationship but a magical one night encounter.

Actually, the song was written by a band member about the first time he saw his future wife, love st first sight but he didn’t meet her, just his feelings about herhence the ‘ it ended too soon’

Seeing this again has me laughing (and in touch) with Lexi's impulses. They are adorable.
I had a scheduled c-section for 9/30/2007…I went to a wedding the night before and couldn’t eat after midnight due to the surgery/c-section the next morning….i went into natural labor around 12:01 AM…9 hours before my c-section. We went to the hospital and had to make the best of the contractions and both at the hospital before my doctor was there for the surgery. Because it wasn’t a super emergency, the surgery room was an amazing place!!! The doctors had music playing loud while they performed my c-section, took care of my baby, and sewed me back up! This song was blaring while they cut my stomach open and took her out. Such a fun and relaxing experience. My next daughter had a similar c-section and Girls Just Want to Have Fun was playing when they removed her from my belly via c-section! Great memories!!!

Frankie Valli is a legend. Ya just got to go back into the early 60’s with him. Walk Like a Man, Rag Doll, Sherry….the list goes on. Classic. Another one from the 70’s you might want to explore is Who Loves You.

You should check out "Who loves you?" next. Actually, you should start at the beginning of their library and follow their evolution. It's impressive how they managed to adapt to each period of music and stay relevant for so long.

OMG this take me be to mid 90's in a neighborhood bar, even though i was under age but i walked in with an off duty cop that i was friends with every Saturday!!!! The entire bar would sing along so many good memories!!!!!!
Frankie didn't take the lead for this album because he was having serious ear issues at the time. That's why he only did the pre chorus. Wait till you hear them in their mid 60s form. Frankie is STILL rocking his voice even today.
