Not one other woman on this planet can sing like Barbra Streisand
There was one and then she just disappeared. She did a great Barbara S.
Exquisite clarity.
the best
I consider Celine Dion to be the only woman in Streisand's class. But I would still give Babs in her prime the edge.
@@danieldickson8591 agree
When Barbra sings. You don't hear her sing. You feel her sing.
Exactly ❤

Absolutely!
Yes! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
❤❤❤
No woman exceeds Barbra. She is THE ORIGINAL GOAT. You can see why she was Celine Dion’s idol and many other great singers also.
Celine Dion's Idol is Canadian singer Ginette Reno, not Streisand. Not sure where your getting that from ?
Celine stated in an interview that her idol is her mom and her professional idol is Barbra Streisand.
@@mickdenis6630 Hear it in Celine Dion’s own words. czcams.com/video/DfI8zcYyeqM/video.htmlsi=hv9FCUr1I-Jn-sdy
Absolutely!!!!!! My FAV ❤️❤️❤️
@@mickdenis6630 From Celine herself
Barbara Streisand is an EGOT. She's one of the few entertainers who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Award, and her voice is undescribably stunning
Technically, Barbra doesn't have an EGOT. Her Tony is non-competitive.
@bruw5640 No. Richard Rogers was the 1st person to achieve EGOT. Helen Hayes was the first performer (actor and/ or singer) to achieve EGOT.
@@kirkreid743 Thank you for the correction. Streisand was the YOUNGEST at age 27 to receive every major award! (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) 🙂
@@kirkreid743 sad but true. Now they’re saying that an EGOTis someone who has been awarded the four categories not won.
She's a fine director, too.
Jay & Amber, you'll Love Barbra's "People" and "The Way We Were" !!!! She is one of the greatest singers of the 20th century!!!
"My Heart Belongs To Me" is her best song!!!

@@BillGraper Oh yes Siree, that is one of my all time Barbra songs, it so encompasses my soul!!!🥰 I wish someone would react to "Left In The Dark". I feel that is one of her greatest songs, and sadly in the world of reactions, it gets well, left in the dark. 🥹
Agree, she’s the best
A must!!!!🎉
Somewhere (West Side Story) was from the Broadway album. It won Barbra a record 5th Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Female and a standing ovation from her peers.
Now Alicia Keys and Beyonce have more than 20 each. They have so many categories now.
First of all, the Grammys reduced they categories in 2012, there is no long male/female/group....just a singular category. Beyonce won the Grammy for Pop once, Alicia has never won it. No one has much interested for the Grammys anymore they give the same person 5/6 awards with regularity since the mid 2000s.
I hear it as I write this. the song is so moving there’s no way you cannot be touched. And then there’s the high notes….
@@mickdenis6630 And back in the day they rarely gave Grammys to Rock bands, especially the edgier ones. Even The Beatles only won 5 while they were together.
For me, it's Streisand and Karen Carpenter, two very different vocalists, apples and oranges, but both are THEE experts on how they sang their songs and their storytelling ability...Karen Carpenter, always said that Streisand was the best and Streisand told karen that she had a "marvelous instrument"....
🙏🏼🙏🏼yes!
You ARE CORRECT. IMHO. BARBARA AND KAREN ARE #1 AND #2 NOT, that either is really better than the other. Different styles. Beautiful voices.
A Scottish girl called Chloe Foston has a Carpenters Tribute band and also sings "Evergreen" so so well..I got shivers!

@@lizzylaronde2234 Cool. Barbra was Billboard 's greatest Billboard 200 female artist of all time.
@@chrisvanderhoof9990Billboard is an American company. Americans aren't the center of the universe though we like to think we are. 😆
@@blackblake3658 I'm well aware of that fact, but as Americans, that's what we go by. It would be great if there was a publication that monitored worldwide sales, number 1 albums and singles for artists and groups. We might be surprised, pleasantly or unpleasantly!!
You've just heard a master musician with her instrument. Babs isn't just a singer, that voice is an instrument, and she plays it like the virtuoso she is.
Just in case you didn't know, Barbra Streisand is regarded as one of the greatest singers in American history. When she started out performing onstage around 1960, and then in movies, she created a fan base that was huge and still is. My Aunt who lives in Chicago bought tickets to see her in New York. She took a flight out there just to hear Barbra Streisand sing. She's that popular!
I was shocked, SHOCKED recently to realize when she recorded/released The Broadway Album, she was only 42/43 years old!!! And just think about alllllll the different successes she had leading up to then!!! I think its safe to say that Barbra Streisand CREATED the concept of ERAs for a modern artist/entertainer!!
"Evergreen": Barbra not only sings it, she won an Oscar for writing it. Her co-author/composer was Paul Williams. He also wrote songs by The Carpenters, The Temptations, and The Muppets! Like Barbra, Paul is also an actor and singer. Barbra started her career on Broadway -- and it shows. A savvy business as well as artistic/creative performer, she made deals where she accepted less money in exchange for retaining control of her work. A practice that has profited her.
One of the songs I had performed at my wedding in 1979
Hey you guys need to do Barbra Streisand’s video from the 1968 movie Funny Girl where she sings the song Don’t Rain on My Parade. It is probably her most famous song and she won the Oscar for that movie for best actress that year. The video is available on CZcams and it is a true tour de force. Many singers have since tried to cover that song but nobody has ever done it like Barbra. I highly recommend it and I’m sure any true Barbra fan will tell you the exact same thing. You guys will not regret watching that video. Her voice is so powerful and she just lives that role! Great job, love you 2
Watch the movie!
Funny girl.
I love all her songs.
Roller Skates and "Second Hand Rose"!.
Totally agree my favorite from funny girl is the song that ends the movie my man that’s when I fell in love with Barbra and 55 years later I’m still in a trance
@@user-ii4zf5iq3t yes!! The I’m the greatest star medley on roller skates is awesome, I love it!
And not to forget the song "People", which is my absolute favourite of hers.
They have the movie, I sent it to them two years ago
I know Celine has a great voice but... Barbara is and will always be the original as far as phenomenal voices!! She was way before Celine .A great movie is " The mirror has two faces"
Great Movie 👏
Remember back when Barbra was recording they didn’t have the technology that we have today. Her voice is so pure and spot on and nobody I say nobody even comes close.
Barbra Streisand is a National Treasure!
"Yentl" (1983) was the first film in Hollywood history that was written directed, produced, and starred in by the same talented woman-- BARBARA STREISAND. A period piece film, Eastern Europe 1904, story of a young Jewish woman not conforming to her religion's restrictions-- she wants to read and book learn. Nominated for a number of awards, Streisand won a Golden Globe for directing. Good for your movie channel.
I really loved the movie Yentl. Highly recommend it. No kids while you're cwatching. You want to focus!
Loved that movie!
Please react to "Father, Can You Hear Me?" from this movie.
@@cunningdeb3129 it’s Papa can you hear me!
Many people were astonished that Yentl didn't get the recognition it deserved....and many more astonished that Barbra Streisand didn't get the awards she deserved to get for that film. The green glow of jealously rearing it's ugly head is what that was all about.
Barbra Streisand has the honor of having the greatest & most amazing female voice EVER! It’s 100% Barbra, all natural & all her own, no formal voice training ever! She’s a true once in a lifetime treasure!!!
No formal training, but she was in HS Choir with Neil Diamond, that might give you reason to try harder to perfect you voice.
The natural Olivia Newton John also comes to mind. Barbra's song "Evergreen" use to often make me cry. Her voice with the amazing production, wow.
@@garyarnett1220 She didn't like singing lessons at all. Streisand once said that she took one singing lesson. The teacher tried to get her to pronounce her vowels a certain way - she said she has to sing like she's talking and never took another lesson.
@@garyarnett1220 the fact that they sang You Don’t Bring me Flowers’ on the Grammys speaks to Divine intervention.
There’s something about Barbra’s voice that puts me in a trance, too. I love this song, and Evergreen, especially.
For me without a doubt the best female voice
There are singers, and then there is BARBRA. Truly in a class of her very own.
If its movie night, " The Way We Were." Streisand and Redford and a great song. Memories.
🇬🇧 No-one, but no-one sings like Barbara. The power she can project is immense. Have loved her since my teens (im 60 next week). 🎼💕
Oh welcome to the 60's club happy birthday 😊❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

@@jackieburchell2187 thank you. 👍
I’m in my 70’s and I agree
100% agree with you on her power. Her ability with the softer and smaller moments of a song too are masterful and well phrased and controlled.
Greatest Female Singer of her Generation. Peerless.
Barbra’s voice is like fine crystal. Strong yet delicate and very clear.
Definitely "rings"
I love her. She did a musical called. Funny Girl. She was young. At the end she sings. My Man. Omg. I can’t find the words

"Funny Girl"

It’s the song that I came out to❤
My Man from that film is my favorite song that she sings. It’s a very short song…she doesn’t sing all the verses in that song….but it makes me cry Everytime I hear her sing it! You FEEL her sing that song!
Speaking of Celine Dion, she and Barbra Streisand had a nice one called "Tell Him".
I believe they reacted to that one.
I don’t they did. I searched. I think they’d loooove Tell Him!!
"Tell Him" has to be one of the greatest duets ever recorded"
Anything by Barbra Streisand is great. Go back to the 1960s.
Greatest voice of the past 60 years; hands down. No one has the silky smooth range like Barbra.
Need to watch the Barbara Streisand and Judy Garland duet (Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz) singing "Happy Days are Here Again " from 1963. It was early in her career when she was 21. Barbara's voice was so powerful, the normally calm and amazing Judy Garland seemed frightened at times (She recognized the great talent in front of her and was her greatest advocate)
I 100% agree! A fantastic duet by two legends.
This was on her 1985 album "The Broadway Album". "Somewhere" was from "West Side Story".
an outstanding album.
The song - People who need people - is another great Streisand song
Makes me cry every time!
An absolute must!
"Somewhere" is my favorite Barbra Streisand song. I'm so glad you reacted to it. This is one of many songs she recorded that really showcases her incredible voice. This song was originally in the classic Broadway Musical West Side Story. When Barbra Streisand does a cover version of any song, she owns it. No other version can compare.
She is one of few who has perfect pitch. Her voice is phenomenal.
Simply one of the greatest female voices of the 20th century. Check out "The Way We Were" by Miss Streisand next.
Oh…..for heavens sake, watch the video of Streisand singing “My Man, from the close of the musical Funny Girl. A tour de force performance, full of the deepest emotion. Acting and singing in equal measure. Breathtaking.
No one can match Barbra’s voice. You guys should do a movie reaction to “Funny Girl.”
This song is from the movie, West Side Story 1961 ~ which I highly recommend if you haven't already seen it! This song is so beautiful ~ she does the best version of this, ever! The music was written by the iconic composer Leonard Bernstein and the lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim. West Side Story is a musical conceived by Jerome Robbins, and a book by Arthur Laurents. (1957 Washington, D.C.)
And it’s a retelling of Romeo & Juliet.
And with music and lyrics by two Gay men, Bernstein & Sondheim, the song is as much about the love that can’t be name as it is star crossed straight lovers.
West Side Story is first and foremost a musical, performed on stage. Then they also made some movie adaptions.
Damn ! Barbara just brought tears to this salty old rock drummers eyes.
She is and was just spectacular
Her rendition of that gives me the chills and just all the feels every single time. Definitely top 3 female vocal of all time.
Barbra Streisand is Celine Dion’s idol. Seriously. When she had the opportunity to sing with her, she cried.
Their duet is awesome
LOL, Ginette Reno is Celine Dion's idol.
Barbra IS the SUPREME VOICE. That's it.
THE Supreme voice ... and Miss Ross would agree.
One of the greatest voices of all time. If this is debated I would have to suspect the person debating it was simply stupid.
I chuckled when they were thinking the Barbra they heard with Barry was the "Barbra!" "She's right in there with Celine, lol. Ms Streisand is simply the GOAT. She's the one your favorite female singers look up to. Hit that rabbit hole. ❤❤
Barbra is hands down the greatest female singer of all time!!
Barbra's fabulous, but Maria Callas might want us to hold her beer on this one. 😉
@@fairgreen42 Maria was a stereotypical opera singer whose voice was trained and contrived, sorry. She wasn’t a born singer like Streisand.
Barbra Streisand is a living legend. Singer, actor, producer, director, writer. You guys have got to dig into her music catalog, as well as, her movies. Starting with her debut movie musical FUNNY GIRL. This woman is a tour de force, like no other. Welcome to the Wonderful World Of Streisand💃👏💖
I suggested others, but you're right, they should probably start at the beginning with Funny Girl. :)
Well said 👏
"Somewhere" was written by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim for the musical West Side Story, a retelling of the Romeo and Juliet story set in New York in the 1950s. Romeo was Tony, a white kid, and Juliet was Maria, a Puerto Rican beauty. The "Montague" faction was the American gang, The Jets, and the "Capulets" were the Puerto Rican gang, The Sharks. "Somewhere" is about trying to find a place of peace in a crazy world, a place of love...specifically for the star-crossed lovers, Tony and Maria.
The show was known for its amazing choreography by choreographer and director Jerome Robbins, who also co-directed the first film version with Robert Wise in 1961. The first film starred Natalie Wood as Maria, Richard Beymer as Tony, Rita Moreno (who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress as Anita), George Chakiris (who won an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor as Bernardo, head of the Sharks, and Maria's brother). The film is a classic and won 11 Oscars.
There was a second version in 2021, directed by Steven Spielberg. Rita Moreno co-produced the film and appeared in it in a different role. Tony was played by Ansel Elgort (The Fault In Our Stars), Maria by Rachel Zegler in her film debut, and Anita was played by Ariana DeBose who also won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The film was completed in time for Stephen Sondheim, the lyricist of the show, to see it. Sondheim died at age 91 in November 26, 2021. Spielberg's film opened on December 10, 2021. Sondheim loved the Spielberg film, but it still tanked at the box office.
I am not a huge fan of the show, but both film versions are solid excellence, if different visions. Seeing them should be on the list, if not for the movie reaction channel, then for yourselves.
As for Barbra Streisand...You must watch these films:
- Funny Girl: Barbra's film debut, based on her breakthrough Broadway performance, she won the Oscar for Best Actress (actually sharing the award for the only time in Oscar history with Katherine Hepburn for The Lion In Winter). The best songs: The Greatest Star, People, Don't Rain On My Parade, and My Man.
- Hello Dolly: Another Broadway musical adaptation. There are songs that will be familiar if you have seen Wall-E with the kids. The songs Put On Your Sunday Clothes and It Only Takes a Moment featured in Wall-E are from Hello Dolly, and specifically from the film version. It co-stars Walter Matthau (Max in the Grumpy Old Men movies).
- The Way We Were - An Oscar-winning love story, with only the main theme song sung by Barbra...but it's also an Oscar winner. Robert Redford and Barbra are magic together.
- A Star Is Born (1976) - One of the 4 versions of this story since the 1930s, this is the third. Barbra won an Oscar for Best Song for Evergreen. Co-starring Kris Kristofferson.
- Yentl - Barbra's directorial debut, many wonderful songs, set in turn of the 20th Century Poland about a Jewish woman who disguises herself as a man to learn Talmudic law, against the traditions of her faith and community. Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride) co-stars.
- The Prince of Tides - My favorite film of Barbra's. Based on Pat Conroy's novel, Barbra directed Nick Nolte to an Oscar nomination as a Southern man confronting family secrets in order to help save his twin sister. She has a role in the film as the sister's psychiatrist and love interest to Nolte's character, but it is not a huge lead. Unfortunately, Nick Nolte lost the Oscar to Anthony Hopkins for The Silence of the Lambs. Beautiful story, visuals, and score.
This is also one of the best Broadway show tunes of all time. She sang it perfectly.
This song is just the tiniest little smidgin of Barbra Streisand’s portfolio of music. Look her up folks. Most of her biggest hits happened a long time ago. She was a gigantic star on Broadway by the time she was 22 years old in 1964 and had already started winning Grammies and Emmys. You should watch the movie Funny Girl. It started her career as a Broadway play in 64 and then was a movie in 1967 I believe and was a big hit and she got the Oscar for that. She’s been making records and movies ever since. She is a true GOAT. She runs circles around Celine and all the others. They bow to her.
You should watch “Funny Girl”. Every song is memorable. Truly one of a kind singer and actress.
Great reaction. How any music lover could listen to this and not get multiple chills…. is beyond me. It took me a while to appreciate her, but Barbra Streisand is the female GOAT vocalist, hands down.
Her very early in her career version of “My Man” is something I believe you two will really appreciate. She’s young with a very crystal clear, big voice.
I’m glad you got there cause she is definitely the best there ever was. Good for you!
Just about the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. She touches the soul.

Our choir teacher always said Barbra is the epitome to strive for.

I can’t watch that video without sobbing every single time.
EPIC!
The overwhelming majority of singers today will never be in the same universe as Babs. She is just as great singing live and does not need computers in a studio for creating the illusion that she can sing like many in recent years must have.
That opening (soo over the top) was quintessential Barbara Streisand. She's known for being full of herself - - but she DOES pull it off. She can back it up.
She definitely can. It's not self aggrandizing when you can do what she can! Flawless and soaring. Her voice mesmerizes me every time!
You guys should see " Funny Girl " her first ever movie and that put her on the map x
Evergreen is a beautiful song by Barbara what a amazing voice.
She was singing that with her whole heart and soul. I hope someday we find the peace she is singing about.
She can sing the phone book and it would be beautiful!
Barbara Streisand's mother had been a soprano in her youth, and her mother's father had been a cantor. She has a stunning voice, I remember first hearing her when I was a kid in the 70's I remember thinking her voice was so beautiful then, the sort of voice that can bring you to tears
Barbara Streisand is the best all time female singer. Her range in her vocals and all types of music she songs is amazing. So much control
I’m sure others have said it but her voice was “Like Butter “. She absolutely had a superbly trained voice , she colored, emoted and she can belt
One of the most beautiful songs of all time sung by one of the greatest talents of all time❤❤❤😊😊😊
Streisand was the best voice of her generation. Check out Don’t Rain on My Parade. It’s from Funny Girl, the Broadway show that launched her to stardom. It’s unbelievable. Also, if you’re in a Broadway chantreuse groove, check out Edina Menzel who originated the role of Elphaba in Wicked (the one who’s all green). Try Defying Gravity from that show. She’s the Streisand of a later generation: power, control, enormous range and enormous heart. Enjoy!
Barbara Streisand is a legend! There is no other voice like hers. I was so privileged to be able to go see her sing at Madison Square Garden, later into her career. She was pure magic! One of the greatest singers of all time. She’s mesmerizing!
Barbra has the most beautiful singing voice of the last 100 years and she’s been using it for more than 60 of them. For something decidedly different and more upbeat, I encourage you to listen to her rocking Stoney End and The Main Event, which has quite a beat!
Barbra Streisand defied the trends of the times, defied categorization, and created her own unique pathway to stardom. She knew what was possible inside her. If you want a comedy movie with her as the female lead, check out "What's Up Doc?"
So true! I remember her talking about how studios wanted her to change her name and "fix" her nose but she said she wasn't going to do any of that. Really inspired me to trust believe in the validity of my self worth as an individual .
@randybass8842- omg What's Up Doc is probably my favorite comedy. It's got everything! Streisand and Ryan O'Neal are so great/funny together along with an amazing cast of characters, notably Madeline Kahn. The chase scene is ICONIC!
Barbra Streisand . . . try "Piece of Sky" - "He Touched Me" and "Don't Rain on My Parade" "Papa Can You Hear Me?" "The Way We Were" and "People".
Yes, yes, yes, and don’t forget People! She is phenomenal.
She sings "people" from the first movie she made, which she won an academy award for. The movie is "Funny Girl". My favorite movie by her, and she's had many, is Prince of Tides. A must watch. And, "People" a must.
************************
She is a trained and experienced Broadway singer. From the days before body mics.
She was trained to project to the last row of the biggest theaters!
That’s why she has so much control in her voice.
So much depth, animation and overall quality.
She can truly tell a story through song because that’s how musical theatre performers are trained.
Studio pop music is child’s play for Barbra!
She has more training, control and raw quality to her voice than any studio singer could ever hope to have.
This was the perfect song for her to sing because although it was done in a studio with a “popish” sound to it, it was written for the Broadway stage.
************************
Barbra Streisand has NEVER had formal training for her voice. Maybe she learned alot from personal experience on Broadway, but she’s never had voice lessons or professional training. Her voice and how she uses it is a natural andGod-given gift.
The 1st time I heard Barbra’s voice, I was a little girl, and we had her Christmas album. I decided to become a singer because of her. I am 67 years old and still singing. She is my magic! Funny thing about her, I heard she suffers from stage fright before she sings.
She actually stopped performing live for 27 years, although she did make a surprise appearance at the 1980 Grammy Awards to sing “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” with Neil Diamond. Now that was a memorable performance!
OMGosh! It's the same for me with the Christmas album! We had several that were collections if various artists that included her.
@@brt5273 Same here. There was some great Christmas music in the sixties and early seventies.
The build up towards the end of this always gives me goosebumps. There is not another voice like hers.

My absolute favourite Barbra Streisand song. Flawless.
How does that not make you wanna tear up?? She really does have one of the most gorgeous voices.
Babs is EVERYTHING!! Y'all don't even know. You need to check out Don't Rain on My Parade from the movie Funny Girl and Before the Parade Passes By from Hello, Dolly. You should REALLY check out her duet with Judy Garland Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy. Her voice isn't the powerhouse it used to be but it's still effortless. She has a few duet albums. The last one is one you should definitely checkout. My favorites are with actors, Chris Pine, Antonio Banderas and Patrick Wilson. While you're at it, check out the duet she does with her son, Jason. His voice is beautiful just like his mom's.
She makes singing look as easy as breathing. Magnificent! Great reaction you guys!!
Barbra is the best living singer in the world IMO, truly legendary for decades and decades, and a truly legendary actress at the same time. She was my mother’s favorite singer of all time, when she sings you see why!
She is unique. You cannot define what Barbra Streisand is.
I agree with the folks who have called out "the way we were" beautiful song. For many people it has a special meaning and will bring tears if you attach it to a real memory.
Babs is a vocal beast! One of the greatest ever.
This is one of the great vocal performances of the 20th century. Music historians will be analyzing this 500 years from now.
She's got the best vibrato.... this song always gives me chills
Barbara Streisand had a one of a kind voice. You always have those singers who soon as they sing one or two notes. You know exactly who they are and Barbara was definitely one of them!
Is, not was. She's still with us, and she hasn't lost her singing chops either.
@@lindazee I know that don't do semantics
Nobody can sing like her
@@kimj1741 You are so right. I just love her voice.
i agree, no female singer in today's music industry can compare to Barbra!
No one is right!
Have you heard of Lara Fabian? She is a big fan of Barbara Streisand and a fantastic vocalist in her own right. Check her out.
Barbara one of the greatest voices in music ever 🔥🔥🔥
If you want to put Streisand up there with Celine Dion, then you’ll enjoy their duet “Tell Him”
Utterly gorgeous duet. Unbelievably perfect voices.
