He says, "you know just once, us guys want to be right! So, I recorded it to show her it wasn't any good, and it became one of my number 1 hits!"

He has never stopped writing or recording and many of his songs have been hits for other major artists. His own stuff remains at a very high level of quality, and he still has the pipes! Saw him a couple of times at The Royal Albert Hall back in the day.

I much preferred his up-tempo songs to his ballads, but this one was something else entirely. The lyrics... the tempo...the instrumentation... just something we hadn't heard from him before. We all loved it back then! I think it's held up well over the decades.
