    The story behind this song is Steven Tyler was at a bar with his band mates, and he saw a beautiful, blonde from behind sitting at the bar. He went over to talk to her, and when the blonde turned around it was Vince Neal of Mötley Crew. Steven Tyler’s bandmates made fun of him, joking about how the "dude looked like a lady".

      On a business trip with a group of us attending a trade show in N'awlins. Of course we're walking down Bourbon street taking in the sights and getting drunker by the minute or so.
      Out of no where I find myself checking out a vertical rectangle and the picture of 6 scantily clad babes. One was kinda, meh. The other 5 a solid 8.5 to 9.
      Turns out it's a cross dresser show. I guarantee there's not a single straight guy in the world wouldn't be hoppin' on them if he didn't know about the plumbing. I mean SMOKIN' HOT!!!!!😎

      The first single was actually "Hangman Jury" before this one. Permanent Vacation (1987) was released in the same year as Appetite for Destruction by Guns N' Roses, The Joshua Tree by U2, Hysteria by Def Leppard, Whitesnake's self-titled album, Tango in the Night by Fleetwood Mac, Kick by INXS, etc... Though Slippery When Wet (1986) by Bon Jovi ultimately became the best-selling album of '87 in the USA.

    • @thundernels
      @thundernels Před rokem +2

      @@timothyryan3031 We can say that looking back in retrospect that, most everything on Permanent Vacation forward was in some ways fundamentally different than what had preceded it, we can’t underestimate how much in the wilderness Aerosmith was before these albums. Without folks such as Child, the Walk This Way collab notwithstanding, there may not have been an Aerosmith second act at all. Now, by Get A Grip, the formula was starting to show, but on Permanent Vacation and Pump, song doctors like Child gave a little direction to the directionless.

    I've seen Aerosmith multiple times; for a while they were my favorite band ever... and even after he got clean, Steven, without the aid of drugs, was galloping around on that stage on his mic like a glorious maniac, and making out with every girl in the front rows, and being his general manic self... and let me tell you. He has more charisma than you can possibly imagine.
    I love to say this, because it's my big flex, but my first kiss was Steven. I was at my first concert (which was August 3rd, 1993 at 7:30 p.m. at the now-defunct BSU Pavilion in Boise), it was the Get a Grip tour, and I was 14 (the experience 100% turned me into a concert junkie, and I have since been to scores). My mom took me to the show; she knew i loved them, so she threw me in the back of a pickup truck with a bottle of Kahlua (because that's what I liked when I did drink anything, which was seldom), and she dressed me up so I looked like I was 17, and when we got to the show, I was about three rows back on one of the side wings of the stage, and Steven was making out with everybody female in the front rows... so Mom and her friend Judy picked me up and literally threw me over three rows of people so I could be up front to get my first kiss from Steven Tyler. Because my mom was a badass old Hippie who grew up going to concerts, and she knew about making memories. I'm just saying... Steven Tyler's whole presence is RIDICULOUSLY intense, & his energy was unparalleled until probably his 70s, before he finally probably chilled out a little bit. As far as my sexuality, it changed a lot since then, and now I think it's too bad his daughters don't have as much charisma as him, because good lord, look how beautiful they are. But that goes without saying. I will still always have my flex.

    Amber is just precious and adorable. 😂❤ What a fun reaction to such a fun song. I can’t believe I was only 10 when this song came out. I guess we were still jamming to it when I was a teenager. I mean they ARE pretty timeless. 😊

    Also, Stevens "rack yak yak yak YOW!" sound is practically patented, he's the only one who can really pull it off. He's a past master at scatting anyway, so he just kind of made that one his own, and it's extremely iconic.

    Rather prophetic in the light of current issues. Tyler was always a madman onstage. Never walked away from their shows feeling like I didn't get their best. A really classy move Tyler did on concert was the way he introduced his newfound daughter to the world. In the show he'd have a feather boa that was used in one of the videos. He'd look offstage and ask who's that. A young lady, Liv Tyler, would walk onstage and hand him the boa. He said, "Oh, hey look everyone. It's my daughter, Liv Tyler." When you know their story, you can see how very cool that was.

    Here's some trivia for you. This song is about Vince Neil the singer from Motley Crue. Steve Tyler was in a club and saw a "woman" when she turned around it was Vince Neil and Steven Tyler said "Dude looks like a lady", then wrote this song.
