r/Maliciouscompliance I Make $10,000/Month By Obeying My Narcissistic Mom

- Äas pĆidĂĄn 3. 08. 2024
- r/Maliciouscompliance In today's episode, OP lives with her narcissistic parents, who try to control her every move. They attempt to punish OP by forcing her to stay in her room. OP happily complies and spends that time working on artwork, which becomes incredibly popular on Patreon. Her Patreon grows and grows, and eventually she starts making $10,000/month! Once her parents learn that she's rolling in cash, they suddenly start singing a different tune with her.

A note for RSlash:
Fire academy is for firefighters, and typically involves building sets(like movies), where theyâll train clearing a building, putting out fires, etc
The Fire Nation from Avatar didn't have a Dresscode, but hey if some Micromanager told me to obey a Dresscode i'd get creative too
I thought it was for firefighters because for police is police academy
The Academy in the Fire Nation involves burning buildings to the ground

Man...that pretty much shows Op's parrents just expect her to be sad and miserable all the time. Garbage people. >:(
To the vodka story: When OP's mom asked "Is that weed?", OP should have said "Yep, just felt like smoking some. Any problems?". It would probably be the incorrect choice to do so, but rubbing it in that they have no longer any control over OP must be very satisfying...
True but she doesn't want to rock the cradle too much since she still needs them for college and that 60k would vanish fast. Use them until she gets her degree move out with the money she's saved up from her writing and cut contact.

Oh, and its so funny how they want OP to apologize for something THEY started, thats a VERY strong classic with delusionals who cant admit fault.
I literally thought you said âbag of forgivenessâ I really need more sleep omg
@@ramenbomberdeluxe4958 I'm glad OP didn't give her mom what she wants, which is to beg. Kudos to OP for having massive self-control. OP didn't just make a lot of money, she even destroyed her psychologically.

If only I could do the same to my mother, my situation isn't quite as easy.
"If they came to hear me beg, they will be disappointed."
Anyone wana bet that when OP actually DOES move out her parents will whine and cry and ask why she doesnât love them?đ
No. I value my money. : )
Yeah, but not because they feel unloved or anything. They might feel embarrassed around people they know, but they probably just think that their daughter is stupid and soft enough to fall for stuff like that.
I had a similar situation growing up. My parents were abusive. I cut them out of my life once my mom started getting worse after my dad died. Don't really care what they think anymore.
In reality, they don't love OP, they love her money because she makes a lot.
Absolutely had that happen with my mother when I left as soon as I could around 19, a charity helping young people from broken homes helped me escape, I then went very low contact and she constantly whined, asked for money, asked why I didnât love her, continued to gaslight me, and continued to enable my brothers abuse. Sheâd ask âwhy donât you love meâ and Iâd tell her âbecause you let my brother constantly beat me upâ, âbecause you laughed when my brother knocked me unconscious and told me I was being dramaticâ, âbecause you forced me to bring my brother up because you didnât want to be a responsible parentâ, and sheâd constantly brush all this off.
I eventually got fed up of her and went no contact, and the only time she ever tried to contact me was to send abuse, until threatened with police action for harassment, where I had a friend in police Scotland helping me with restraining orders should they be needed. She is terrified of being held actually responsible and the cops knew how terrible she was (but social work wouldnât do anything and their hands were tied) so theyâd send the community beat officer every week to pop by for a cup of tea and check in, strangely my mother would always mysteriously vanish because she didnât want asked any questions such as âwhy do you constantly supply your 14 year old son with alcoholâ, âhave you considered your daughter has PTSDâ, âdid you know your son stole money from the elderlyâ, âare you aware itâs illegal to be supplying teenagers alcoholâ, âare you aware itâs illegal to be buying teenagers cigarettesâ (yes, sheâd buy kids aged 13-16 alcohol and smokes).
They were aware she played favourites and chose my brother as the golden child and me as the scapegoat so they kept an eye on me, so they tried to keep an eye on me when possible. Sheâd act all nicey with the cops, like she was a struggling single mother with an âungratefulâ daughter, whereas they knew I was being abused by my mother and brother, acting out because of the sheer amount of abuse, struggling mentally and had undiagnosed PTSD (thankfully diagnosed as an adult), and she was very jealous of the father-like relationship I had with one cop, who I still speak to today, as Iâd hug him when I saw him âshe never gives me hugs WTFâ, as soon as he left Iâd get more psychological abuse âwhy donât you give me hugs, why donât you love me, you just want me to kill myself donât you? Youâre the reason I want to kill myselfâ.
Parents like that always whine and cry after we leave and cut them from our lives, she always posts on my birthday and sends friends to contact me, and every single year I have to tell them she abused me, Iâve cut her out my life for a reason, and I donât care about her attention seeking FB posts on my birthday because she ALWAYS words it like âhappy birthday to my ungrateful, spiteful daughter who refuses to talk to meâ so she can get attention, so every year I send a copy paste with public FB posts detailing the abuse over the years, most never respond, some tell me âbut sheâs your mother, you need to forgive herâ (no thanks), and some tell me to get over myself. She constantly whinges online and crying for attention, yet still canât face that she is the reason I cut all contact. Sheâs in her 50âs, she wonât ever accept that she was responsible and this is on her.
As a fellow writer who considers to do what OP did with her parents, all I want to know is what book she's writing because her story had definitely got me curious

the airport security thing reminds me of an experience i had in london. Because i had a lot of makeup/beauty products that was concidered liquids and you are limited to 100ml per product but also everything has to fit in those 1L plastic bags i took solid shampoo, conditionner and a shower jelly all from lush... the agent made a big deal about the shower jelly, saying " it kinda counts as liquids, also your bag is too full because when i grabbed it it opens so please leave your perfume as well.. i could see she just wanted the stuff. Luckily someone above her in rank passed by and hear me arguing and said: "yeah no showe jelly is not a liquid, and even if the bag opens from the weight when being picked up she clearly made the effort to pack every single makeup item like mascara when we're usually leniant about those. so let her pass"

TSA STORY: My dad and little brother weâre going on a hike in the Rockyâs with our Boy Scout troop a couple years ago. One of the items they packed were a couple 1L water bottles. When they reached base camp, they filled them up and used them for the week long hike. Afterwards, arriving at the airport, one bottle still had some water in it. When they reached TSA, when they tried to confiscate it, my dad chugged the water in an attempt to save it. It didnât work and we loss the bottle. He probably wouldâve argued with them if he wasnât in a strange airport and not relying on his friend who was walking away oblivious of the situation for directions. We considered it our trip sacrifice to the TSA gods.
This wasn't a TSA story. This happened in Varadero which is in Cuba. The only thing I was thinking is that the OP is being an entitled brat and all for a silly water bottle that was likely purchased from Amazon. The OP was making a scene, holding up a very long line through customs in a third world country all because he/she wanted to keep a glass water bottle that was declared to be over the volume limit.
OP just needed to stop. That water bottle likely cost more than what that customs official made in a week. And if you argue with custom officials enough, you might find your stay in Cuba to be a bit longer and a bit less pleasant than what you had originally intended. The only thing you need in your luggage bag is clothing.
@@superdave8248 Dave, I'm sure that your comment was incredibly helpful for OP. It's nice to see how people on the interwebs like to dictate what other people say, do, and how much their personal property costs or means to them, of course without any background information or seeing it. Good for you Dave. We need more people like you, trying to force your own ideas and morals onto others. Nice work!
@@H-to-O Corrupt or not, arguing with an authoritative figure in a third world country is never something you should do. She was lucky it played out the way it did. Other alternatives? Get pulled out of line for interfering with a public official in their duties. Get interviewed by agents. Get strip searched by agents. All of the above. Regardless you still end up with the same thing missing out on your flight and possibly paying additional fees as your missed flight was a direct result of your actions of not following legally given instructions. Not to mention you have an army of angry passengers behind you who also need to get through security and you are holding them up. And from their point of view? This is all because of a glass jar.
At the end of the day it still played out the same way. The bottle didn't leave with the OP on the flight. That bottle stayed in Cuba. And that look the custom official gave the OP ... it was interpreted as a look of disbelief because the OP thought the agent wanted the bottle. I'd argue that if the agent wanted the bottle he would not have asked the OP if they wanted the top off the bottle. I'd argue that look was nothing more than a custom official wondering why on earth a person would want a bottle top he/she couldn't use. And it had nothing to do with whether the agent actually wanted the bottle. I mean seriously think about it. Would you want a used glass bottle form a complete stranger?
@@superdave8248 Ok. So no one in the world should ever visit Cuba because Corruption is a ok. How about corruption is never ok and people should not steal because their life is shit.

Wait wait wait. So the bottle thing. Airport security can just destroy your belongings? Isn't that against the law? Am I missing something?
When traveling, since you aren't allowed to take it and they cannot hold items, they have them destroyed. For example, fruits and veggies, nuts, ect that are considered "illegal" or "not allowed through" all go into a grinder at the end of the night/start of the day. Not sure what they call the machines to crush the plastic/makeup, ect, but yes. Your items are either destroyed or given to police to search and after that, you're just shit outta luck my friend. (Have a cousin who works for American Airlines and SouthWest so she's told me a few of their methods for doing a lot of different things. Knives, sharp objects, and even alcohol go directly to the police for "evidence" in case something happens on your flight after passing through)
If they are confiscating it that's what they should do as usually it's taken off you because they is potential for it to be dangerous in some way. Glass can be used as a weapon. Liquid used to make bombs or something. Food can be a bio hazard etc.
That's technically destruction of property isn't it? Like what about things like phones? Or medicine that they could see as drugs?
It is quite simple. The airport security gives people a choice. Eater you freely surrender prohibited items, or you can't not go true the security check and you will miss your flight, the choice is yours. And after people freely surrenders prohibited items, the airport can either discard them or keep the items in storage for ever.
@@the_puppeteer2136 Thete are rules about medicine and phones. Prohibited items section spells out some of this. My experience with TSA has been pretty good, and I keep up with their requirements. Once I spaced out that I had a pocket knife on my person and they let me leave the line to put it back in my vehicle. They didn't have to do that.
Reminder, the TSA has never stopped a terror attack and serveno purpose but security theater.
It's always the flight marshells or cabin crew that do the real work.

While flying in a US Airforce flight from Afghanistan to The US we passed through Germany. I was carrying some combat equipment and had a liter of OJ when the TSA stopped me from going through the checkpoint not because of the eight cell phones in my pocket or my pistol but the OJ was over the size limit. So I chugged it got through security and then immediately vomited all over the trash can on the other side.
Must have been a commercial flight chartered by the Air Force. My experience flying on US military aircraft is that custom agents aren't even remotely allowed to get close to them. usually the pilots will use "US government sovereign property" or "you lack the proper security clearance to board" to get custom agents to turn right around and go about their business.
But most of the time the military aircraft are landing on military bases. So there is no custom checks to begin with. The one exception I remember is Diego Garcia. A military base on an island in the Indian Ocean. It is owned by the Brits, managed by the US military, and kept functional by a Philippino work force. But customs is strictly British personnel. They check anybody and everybody coming through the island. I once witnessed them check bags for a group of civilian workers heading back to PI for vacation and the pile of contraband they confiscated from them would have over flowed a dumpster.

I had a TSA agent in Chicago O'Hare confiscate and throw away my medicine several years ago. It did not meet the criteria for an item that could be confiscated. I asked his supervisor to please return it to me as I was following all the rules. He told me that the TSA agents had broad discretion over what they confiscate and that his decision was final. You do have to follow the rules of that place where you live. You have your own place then you can set the rules and if someone break them you can insist that while they are in your home they cease and desist with that behavior. And if they refuse you can kick them the hell out. By the same token if you choose to ignore the rules of the house where you are living they have the right to kick you the hell out. But the fact that it was OP's parents, that's not good, that's not at all good. No one should be gaslighting their children, that itself is a power trip. But she did turn the tables on them with her writing income and that warmed the cockles of my heart.
The empty glass water bottle is allowed on the plane, if it meets the size requirements. They must of really liked that bottle enough they're probably going to steal it.
That vodka story smells.. worse than her weed does. How is 10k Patreon income not a secure thing? Especially since she allegedly went from hundreds to 10k in only a few months.
it is very likely that story didn't happen in the US
Itâs more about what she did to earn that income than it does the income itself. Writing as an income is very hard to pull off because you constantly have to be thinking about the story youâre writing, and believe me, it takes a toll on your brain rather quickly. You also need some way to have proof of your work because with that kind of money, someoneâs going to try to steal it. At least with a copyright you can sue the thief, but if itâs not published, they can just claim OPâs work for themselves and even sue them out of the money already made.
I do agree with the other commenter that this could be something that took place outside the US, but even stateside where you live varies. Places like New York City and San Francisco are so expensive that you could have a salary of $200k a year and STILL just be scraping by. Hawaiiâs bad too, being the most expensive state in the country. In those places, 10k a month is not enough to allow financial independence, though in NYC you can at least just work there while living elsewhere for cheaper prices because of how interconnected their transportation system is.
Writing can be a great source of income if you are really good, but it should NEVER be looked at as a stable source of income because nothing about it is stable.
If the story ends, if op loses motivation, if their audience doesn't like certain decisions they make, their income could be severely cut or even dry up entirely. Writing as an income source, most any creative venture as an income source, is not stable.
Not letting money go to your head is great advice! People who win the lottery would be a lot better off if they'd heeded it.
I lost it when Rslash said âFlameio Hotmanâ đâ€ïž
I cannot put into words the joy I got from hearing RSlash make an A:TLA reference. Flameo Hotman indeed
16:10 I can see that, but the fact of the matter is, that's there's always at least one, ONE teacher, instructor, principal, etc. in every school who only exists there to oppress the student body
The tsa stories reminded me of the fact that my grandpa, a sculptor, got flagged with a bomb threat over a wood planer in the 70s (you know, very pre 9/11). We suspect it was due to the fact he was very much a hippie at the time so they just didnt like him
"Said I choose to be a bad girl and do this shit when there are girls who don't"
And there are parents who choose to be abusive when there are parents who don't.
I Really hope OP in the Writer Story can leave that environment. Look into getting an appartment for themself.
When I was a kid, I LOVED taking a big suitcase full of books on trips. As I got older, baggage fees skyrocketed and I started having to take my books in my carryon. I also loved arcade games. When I was 12, we went on vacation to a beach resort with kids arcade room and I packed my school backpack as full as possible with about 20 library books. I had just enough space in the front pocket for a big ziplock bag of coins and my little Vera Bradley purse.
TSA got mad because they couldnât see past all the coins and thought I was hiding something, so they painstakingly removed EVERY SINGLE ITEM from my bookbag.
After clearing me it became apparent that they didnât know how to make everything fit again.
It took SO long for them to frisk me, check my belongings, empty my bag, clear me, repack my bag, and quiz me about travel plans that my family MISSED OUR FLIGHT.
Worse still, it later turned out that they kept one of my library books and I had to pay fines to replace it.
How long can someone abuse their power before they're surrounded by so many people calling out their bullshit
"Learned your Lesson?"
Yep. Hence why I have made 60K with in the Year. Now, what have we learned here?
"O.O"
Moral of the Story - Do not eff with someone who will one day be a Golden Goose. They'll never forget what you did and you would be lucky to be allowed to still have a roof over your head.
I brought a wood plane through TSA in a carry-on one time. I looked up the the regs and it was just about in the allowable size range for a metal object.. and I took out the blade and mailed it home (Of course,.. got lost in the mail :-(. ) so there was nothing sharp on it.
The annoying and potentially scary thing was.. the TSA guards didn't seem to know whether or not they should let it through. I rattled off the appropriate rule to them, and they choose to trust me. I felt like I could have talked through any questionable item because I was a clean-cut middle-aged white guy.
About the first story The rule is about the SIZE OF THE CONTAINER (check tsa site) even though these days MANY countries and airports do allow the bottles, there is a reason why there is the size (of the bottle) limit. To make a long story short, a terrorist group planned a few hijacks but did not succeed, the few of them were supposed to each bring inoffensive liquids but, when mixed together it would become a bomb, but to mix it they had to take a bigger bottle, if you do not have where to mix discretely it's that much more difficult!!! (P.S.: 10 years working airport security!!)
First story: That Guard should've been called out.

The first time I flew since the establishment of the liquid rules, I had my pricey beauty products in my carry on. Instead of throwing away (or letting TSA have) 100s of dollars of my stuff. I got out of line, went to the FedEx down the way and mailed my stuff back to me.
OH MY GOD the beginning of the Vodka story made me so goddamn ANGRY. In my case it was only my mom in my family who absolutely flipped her sh*t over any amount of alcohol in my room, and it also sort of happened overnight for some reason. I decided to hold on for like half a year and save money and then move out. I had once even ordered some special liquor with cherry flavor but found the empty bottle in the trash later the same day I should have got it delivered in an unmarked package. Right after moving out I went low-contact for a bit. Only now I'm beginning to have a decent convo with her
Fire academy girl: "I know the requirements, but won't meet them. Pls let me do what I want tho"
I used to work for TSA. Breast milk was never an issue and was always allowed, no question.
A fire academy is like a police academy, but for firemen, not cops.
"Fire Academy 2: Burning Desire" was the best of the series.
first story: even if it's only to f*cking mess with the guy, don't return the bottle and ask to talk to his supervisor or I would sue the airport. since he sounded insecure, and probably was new, he would sh*t his pants at that threat and run to find somebody to take care of the problem because everybody knows that a company would never take the blame if they can blame you. my uncle did something similar at a bank. they tried to pull a similar sh*t and he just said "do you know to who you are speaking? I'm thinking about cancelling my company's account" the employee broke the speed of light to apologize.
Alright, finally something i can comment with knowledge. The past 3 months i worked on the airport and yes, the guards sometimes confiscate things just because they like it or just cause they feel grumpy, even to other guards cause they are levels. If you travel, make sure you fulfill the regulations cause they enjoy their power. Also, dont carry valuable things on the check in bag.
I remember a trip with my friends where one of them were carrying a deodorant spray which was above the legal limit. When they were stopped, they gave every passenger passing through a free spray before finishing check-in đ
7:49 that story is fucking disgusting. People like that should never have children.
That avatar reference made me smile. Always break the dress code in fire nation school.
Fire Academy is for teaching the people who qualify how to become firefighters. As a female who went through Fire Academy back in 1987, before they had male/female standards (I was the only female in 3 of my 4 stations) I just cut my hair short. I managed to Ace all three Fire Academies that I attended. My Ex was in the Navy and before I was forced to retire due to a medical condition, I was a fire fighter for 12 years on 4 different fire departments literally from coast to coast. It's a combination of book learning and practical application.
I went to the Varadero airport a few months after the first story happened (I checked the reddit post, and it's from 2019). That story brought back some staunch memories of how much I hated that airport. It felt like all the employees there were placed there after a natural disaster or something. There was no organization, and took like 5 hours to get through the line. Ugh
As a airport employee I can say that no matter how stupid the rules are and Iâm sure every employee at any international airport probably agrees with me they have to enforce it and the backlash and danger every employee has to go through we must follow every single rule to the letter unless otherwise notified
The writer story, I'd hang out for as long as possible, then try to buy the house, or the land at least, kick the parents out, then sell the land and house to someone else for more money and go live elsewhere
This is why I hate airports. Iâm so paranoid that they will find something I care about and is ânotâ allowed only to steal it.
Fire academy = where fire fighters learn to be fire fighters/EMTs/dispatchers. Theyâre all over the west coast of the USA because, well, the entire west Coast burns down once a year.
That writer story is absolute BS.
Making 11k in a month and living with your admittedly abusive parents?
Having a Patreon and not actually revealing what it is?
No way.
Fire academy is for firefighter training :) itâs super strenuous and demanding but ultimately itâs pretty cool
Best part is that we totally know he's a zuko fan đ
5:27 I'm not surprised. Someone lost their perfume while coming back to India. Shit was expensive.
Remember: You can carry more than 100ml of liquid on a plane as long as there's a living fish swimming in it.
Your content is the best part of my day
Big facts
She just destroyed that instructors honor. Now the instructor must capture the avatar.
TSA is an effing joke and their rules about liquids are absurd
not really. glass can be used as a weapon (break it in the toilets use it to attack the crew etc) the liquids can start a fire (it only takes two minutes for smoke to fill the air in a plane). Well the rules say you can take on glass bottles (as long as its empty) the rules about liquids are there for a reason
Ah yes, the slippery slope from vodka to crack đđđ
I actually write fanfics in Wattpad and I never actually thought about making money off of it using patreon. So that story made me think I could try to do that. I probably wont make much money though or at all but who knows.
Be careful with it with fanfics, cause that can get you in legal trouble.
Was flying through Moscow airport to Japan, and for some reason they had extra check-up in between flights (keep in mind, we never left the airport, barely even switched to next gate). I had bought a tax-free bottle of water after check-up because I get easily thirsty in the dry airplane air, and it was half-empty at the time we landed. Person checking our luggage picked up the bottle from my backpack, and threw it in the thrash without even asking if it was mine or anything. Just threw it in with all the other nasty "confiscated" stuff like smashed fruits, half-eaten doughnut and whole bunch of used tissues.
I just angrily proceeded to next worker on the airport, and asked what was their ruling on liquids that were bought on-flight, and pointed out their co-worker. I never got the bottle back, but I did hear angry russian shouting a few minutes later.
Iâm just wondering how itâs not obvious what the fire academy is. Itâs like the police academy but for⊠firefighters.
It is 100% obvious, I think his brain is just glitching
I'm receiving my semester report tomorrow, hope i don't get mad at.
Goodluck yo..
@@thetruth1816 thanks
Best of luck!
That book worm story was beautiful.
What a success story
I wear hard contacts over night that correct my vision for the day. On a flight back from London, security tried to confiscate the contact solution because it was a bottle over the limit (despite the amount of liquid left being under), we didn't empty it because the airports regulations stated that contact solution was exempt of the limit. The guard didn't care, and tried to throw away the bag with both my solution and the contacts, which are worth a lot of money. Airport Security that insist they're right when they're not is infuriating
To Dad: Mom hits me again, I'm gonna hit her back. Dad: Well, it's time for you to move out.
A security guard at the airport threw all of the contents of my small backpack out in search of my yarn scissors... The yarn scissors are very tiny (think about the size of nail scissors). In the process, damaged my brand new copy of The last wish which was in the backpack. The small backpack was in a bigger bag which was mostly empty, aside from the backpack and a couple of random items. He proceeded to carelessly stuff the contents of the backpack back in it, despite me asking several times if he could just leave them be for me to pack it myself so the book doesn't get damaged. But nope, he had to stuff it all back, damaging the cover on the brand new book in the process. The cover has creases and a bit of the cover is torn now. I know this damage would be made by use after a while, but I like to put a clear book cover (the foil stuff that sticks to the book) on my softcover books to prevent this kind of damage or at least make it last longer before that happens. I was going to do that when I got home. I actually bought the book on my trip since they're unavailable in my home country (I guess they just never got popular enough to have a demand big enough for book stores to stock it). I'm still very salty about that.
oh, and edit to say: right after the bag got confiscated for the check and I was told there's a ponty object in my backpack, I remembered I had my yarn scissors there and I told the guard exactly where they are. He still proceeded to throw everything out of my backpack, even though they were in a small pocket that he could easily access without taking anything out. Not sure if that's a procedure they have to do or something, or maybe he was just a butthole. He did the same thing to the woman next to me who forgot she had a small bottle (less than 100ml) of hand sanitizer in her bag. She straight up told him what it is and where it is, but she had all of the contents of her bag thrown out, too. There was a Polish Karen next to us who skipped the entire line and demanded to be let through even though she failed to clear the security check, so maybe that's why he was such a butthole to us. But then again, if he was in a bad mood, he should take it out on the Karen that put him in that mood, not the rest of the passengers. We almost missed our flight, too.
